  1. FMD.

There hasnt. We are plain rubbish. We have struggled over 2 development teams and beat one side who treated us a bye and week off.

I find hard to think of a worse year. And apart from half a dozen individual players (one of whom we recruited in), I reckon we have gone backwards.

Neeld will be under the gun next year. So should the MFC senior mgmt.

Yes, this pretty much sums up my feelings. And as WYL said, this season was over before our round one match was even completed. Very depressing.

I'm prepared to give Neeld more time, though I think a failure to show genuine improvement in the first half of next year will trigger calls for his head that will be difficult to resist. I expect to see some heat on Cameron Schwab, too. Melbourne could really do with a top CEO, worth investing the money there I reckon. But I don't want to open up that debate again.

But I feel pretty let down as a supporter, and as I said the football we produce is close to unwatchable.

  2. Disappointing Ned. Will you then get back on board when things turn around? (A big assumption, I know). We need all the members we can get. Remember the black hole we were in a few years ago. Some hard work was put in behind the scenes so that we can now talk about football, and not finances or mergers. Up to the footy department and players now. But we need to support them and membership is a must.

I will of course. I am and always will be a Demon supporter.

  3. I stopped listening to Neeld early in the season. I don't care what a losing coach says. I did read today he said there were good signs in the GWS game. Reinforced why I don't listen to him. Haven't written him off. Just want to see on-field do the talking.

  4. I love Jones and enjoy watching Blease. Almost everything else about Melbourne is painful to see and reflected on the scoreboard. Still no goals and we're in the second quarter.

  5. Dead set, these bozos are unbelievable.

The show started tonight with the Matthew Primus/Port Adelaide issue. Fair enough - it's a current and interesting issue.

BUT, within less than a nano second, the MFC then became the issue. I find it genuinely bizarre how hard they go at our club. Healy, in particular, is one very vain, yet increasingly anti intellectual, media peanut.

I also enjoyed the very contrived disclaimer they spun about last week's Brock interview as though it was a complete shot out of the blue.

Well, in short fellas - you can't have it both ways. Either you're completely naive amateurs with absolutely no useful insights into the game, or you're experienced AFL commentators who knew exactly what Brock McLean would have to say about his former club if fed some Dorothy Dix questions.

Given the way they have conducted themselves lately, I can't believe these dudes have the arrogance to question the integrity of the MFC.

And it's also stunning how basic their analysis has become. To think, I used to like this programme - and Paul Roos in particular.

    Disappointing stuff.

Paul Roos is pathetic. I used to like the show too but it has just degenerated. Roos is a mealy-mouthed joke whose sole purpose, it seems is to agree with any proposition that spud Sheahan puts up. I don't have any problem with Melbourne copping a pounding. I feel ashamed of our performances and believe we're fair game. But I just find the rest of the program light-weight. Sheahan is a good reporter but provides little insight on on-field matters -- yet he drives the discussion and Roos just nods in agreement. Then there's the Swans love-in. Seriously, it should be called ``in the pond'' not on the couch. Oh the Swans this, oh the Swans that -- it totally inverts the idea Sydney doesn't get enough coverage. I've basically stopped watching it. On the Couch is a joke.

  6. We can't get rid of him as it would begin a total death spiral for our club. Just have to hope he can turn things around. But I'm pretty disappointed, I admit. No matter how much you're changing a club, one win by late July (GWS don't count) is just terrible. Hardwick got a string of wins in the second half of his first year.

I didn't bother voting because voting to oust Neeld at this stage is voting to destroy our club.

  7. Pea-hearted frontrunner. I was shouted down for saying that after the Gold Coast game early last year. I can't stand him. But what would be the point of the trade table. A draft pick? We have plenty already. As the poster above said, he can do simecritical stuff and is a mature body. He's contracted. So we keep him and [censored] him on the track until he cracks and starts to do his job.

I don't see the trade win now. Pick 18 from Sydney?

  8. And they haven't been absolutely [censored] anilhilated on may occasions this year, as well as playing a watchable brand of footy.

So please, don't get on these forums and kid yourselves that we are not much worse off than the Tigers. They are waayyyyyyyyy ahead of us.

    We suck. They don't.

It is a very competetive season, so there is not much between 6th and 12th, but light years between 6th and 16th.

    Yep, exactly.

  9. I get bored watching us dish up the same stuff week on week, so I turn the TV off. Then I can't bear to not know what's happening, so I turn it back on again. That's been my last few weeks. It's probably different for people who go each week.

I think what keeps me going is not loyalty, but the fear that when the "happiness train" arrives that it will leave without me. I could withdraw my emotional investment, but I choose not to, because I want to be able to truly enjoy the moment when it comes and I don't think I could if I dumped the club during the hard times. Every bit of pain is a credit in the bank that I intend to reclaim when success comes.

    It better bloody come.

Yep, I turn on and off. What I struggle with is that in Hardwick's first year, when Richmond took ages to get a win, they really showed something in the second half of the season. We just haven't shown anything for supporters to cling to. I like watching Richmond. They can't quite nail it but jeez they try. Remember how we laughed at them for winning in 2009 so we got the priority pick?

  10. Honestly, as a Demon supporter for 60+ years, and yet again a current member, this has turned into the very first season (yes, including the 70s and early 80s) ever that I just cannot bear to watch them play. I had always made every effort to optimistically get to games when family and work allows, but today I just could not bring myself to watch or even follow the scores more than two or three times.

I will sign up again 2013, and no doubt be "optimistic" about the forthcoming season, but I really think I can take it only one more time.

I have become genuinely depressed about our future and actually feel like crying when I read about our lack of progress.

Yep, I understand. I'm really struggling to tune in to watch us. Just pathetic frankly. Ugly footy and flogged week in, week out. Heightens my respect for Nate Jones though, how he just keeps going.

But frankly, injuries or not, we're a miserable team and I'm struggling for optimism on 2013. I don't see any light.

  11. Scully lost nothing leaving Melbourne. One win the difference and no scrutiny and stacks of cash in Sydney. Thread title just silly.

I really fear for our club right now. Little to get excited about.
