  1. Geelong/Pies at Simonds. Obviously trying to keep the crowd numbers under control, it's on at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.
  2. Next week, we get GC up in Qld it seems: Patrick Keane ‏@AFL_PKeane Saturday March 16 Suns/Melb at Southport, 11.30am
  3. Before people start getting carried away, maybe we should just check how many of those frees were because of the NAB cup boundary and OOB rules.
  4. You were there? Didn't get that impression from your posts.
  5. On the basis of one NAB cup game? If all that happens is Pedersen keeps Sellar honest, it's worth it. Seems to be working so far.
  6. If the stats show that we had more I50's, then that negates any argument that "we couldn't get it inside 50". The stats re clearances did not support the original proposition that we were "killed in the clearances". We actually won the centre clearances 11 7. Against that, Disposal Efficiency of the likes of Magner, Jones and Sylvia was a lot lower than that of the likes of Montagna and Dal Santo, which says something about what was happening coming out of the clearances. But then, that's another stat as well. People here use stats when it supports their argument, and trot out the "stats don't tell the whole story" line when they don't.
  7. Here .... http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/nab-cup/2013/3/melb-v-stk Clearances 25 29 to them. Yep, we were killed ...
  8. Leave it Roost it, you're just going round in circles, banging on about whatever it is you're banging on about. There's no story here, move along.
  9. Dawes has done most of the fitness-based PS, just less match practice, drills etc. Trengove had over 2 months of basic build before Xmas, not to mention the work that he would have done before official training started. As mentioned elsewhere, all would have been on the bikes, in the gym etc. etc. It's not as if any of them have been sitting round with their legs up.
  10. You think there won't have been calls made this morning along the lines of "why didn't we think of that?". Nice work from CS and the boys. No stone unturned etc. etc. Proactive, especially in the wake of the tanking saga.
  11. Also because of the interchange infringement that cost us a 50m penalty and goal last weekend (I seem to recall ...)??
  12. Renmark wasn't streamed, it was archived and put online the following day.
  13. Perhaps also, not so much about leadership, but taking responsibility. When Jones, Grimes etc. are there, they tend to direct the traffic somewhat (and Dawes now down forward it seems), so without them, the players onfield were left to their own devices more. One of the comments after the game was that we managed to keep our shape, so it seemed to have worked.
  14. Exactly. NAB cup form doesn't count.
  15. Lucky you don't follow Hawthorn or Sydney then, their seasons are obviously shot. It's NAB OD, so it's basically just tanking: playing players out of position, resting key players, experimenting where possible, getting games into young players, trialling setups etc. etc. Given that it's not about winning, hard to take anything from it based on that. Not to mention, Clark, Trengove, Blease and probably Sylvia and Tom McDonald rested/injured ... we're not yet a top 4 side, so take those 5 out and it's going to hurt.
  16. Actually 73.7 disposal efficiency. On the other hand, the ones that went astray, REALLY went astray, which perhaps makes it all look worse than it is.
  17. Lack of leadership perhaps?? ... needed some calmer and wiser heads to steady the ship. Not to mention, some more mature bodies who could run the game out a bit better than a bunch of kids and/or older players but who have yet to complete a full AFL pre-season.
  18. Well poop. Must be something to do with me being OS ... same on the various Macs we have around the place, iPhone, iPad etc. etc. I can't watch anything from the AFL site or which comes through AFL/Bigpond.
  19. http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/nab-cup/2013/2/port-v-melb Click on Full-Time Stats (half way down page, in the middle), and then Advanced Stats. There for every game, NAB plus Home and Away, and updates live during the game.
  20. Anyone on a Mac getting this to work decently? Even with quality on "Low", having to constantly wait - and this with a decent/fast internet connection, fast Mac, and across different browsers. FWIW, find most AFL-sourced/linked video almost unwatchable because of the above. Don't have probs with any other video either ...
  21. And clearances. Some interesting stats amongst the stats: Jetta 20 possessions at 90% efficiency, with Terlich not far behind. Strauss and Evans also seem to be able to hit targets. On the other hand ... Magner, 41% disposal efficiency, including 5 clangers? OK, under pressure around the clearances, but is undoing a lot of his good work.
  22. Absolutely. Pity that that's not the question that was asked.
  23. Who's doing the bullying? The OPer was deliberately provocative, as he usually is. The OP didn't invite a discussion re Tapscott at all, it invited a discussion around whether or not Tapscott was a(nother) dud. Very different. And polarising.
  24. You've obviously never done any of the Wattbike sessions that they do. Try it sometime, and see how you go! It's not for nothing that gyms have stationary bikes. Clark has been working since before Christmas, and is now running alongside one of the best (if not the best?) runners at MFC. Not really fair on Mitch to compare, and would be interesting to see what happened if any of the other big guys on the team were put in the same position. I don't know that there will be issues with Clark's base fitness by the time Round 1 comes around. On the other hand, getting up to playing speed and playing and kicking with confidence are something else.
