  1. Tompas's response to the loss, as reported by Neeld, isn't to be scoffed at either. Someone who takes his responsibilities seriously, and cares about the result. Depressing that it has to come from players such as these as opposed to the senior players, but if it's all we got, it's all we got.
  2. Sorry to hear of your loss, but appreciate that you could share it on here. I lost my dad not that long ago as well, and the last evening we spent together was passed watching his beloved Carlton take on Richmond. The last time I heard him laugh out loud - though you had to pay attention, he could hardly make a sound by that stage - was when Brock McClean wobbled through that kick to win the game in the dying moments. Football. Only a game, but so much more than a game as well. Go Dees.
  3. And for a second time: "A loaded question is a question that assumes facts, usually unflattering, that are not in evidence, with the intent of trapping the other person into admitting those facts. The classic loaded-question example is "When did you stop beating your wife?"" Included here, note perhaps the heading: http://www.conservapedia.com/Logical_fallacy One of the joys of Demonland. You learn something every day. (I've learnt a lot about alpacas for example.)
  4. Exactly. To return things to the status quo, you just follow the trail of droppings.
  5. Ah, I see that you as well haven't stopped beating your wife ...
  6. Because we can easily replace them with, um ....??? We will ALWAYS have at least one of Pedersen or Sellar as backup and pinch-hitters. Unless Fitzpatrick suddenly finds his feet ... Gillies has to stay as well, especially with Dunn out. Essendon have tall forwards.
  7. Neal Craig was specifically asked that last year, and denied that it was happening or was an issue. Non-event, nothing to discuss here, move along. CEO has just been given a new contract, obviously the Board - who would know more than any of us here about what Cam's role is and how he's performing - are happy with him.
  8. Care to provide evidence of that? After all, it was "clearly stated" and all ...
  9. Not been on the site much of late I see ...
  10. I ceased being amazed on that score some time back ...
  11. Meanwhile, and just to take our minds of the sad state of affairs, another sad state of affairs: http://www.alicespringsnews.com.au/2013/04/02/court-told-liam-jurrah-kicked-woman-in-the-head-is-denied-bail/
  12. You're always your own topic RR, you're always about you.
  13. Video up on club site. The Craig Report.
  14. If you still think that OD, might I suggest you weren't paying attention. Reopen the various tanking threads if it's worth discussing. We tanked. We got off lightly. Move on. Not the cause of any of our current problems, nor a reflection.
  15. I'm also in the position where my son is rapidly losing interest, not just in Melbourne ("our" club around the house), but in footy per se. The kids who we lose as future supporters are not just lost to Melbourne, they're lost to the game as a whole. Unfortunate events.
  16. ... when he was played permanently as a KPD and pinch-hitter in the ruck. Perhaps not surprising that having found a position, he's having trouble in another? Gillies is a) young, b) shouldn't have to be taking first or second KPF's and c) was on the receiving end of 62 (count 'em) Inside 50's. Not saying he was great on Sunday, clearly he wasn't, but I wouldn't be writing him off on the basis of one game where the whole team underwhelmed and we were cut to ribbons in the mids. As for Pedersen, see Gillies. Though in any case, we need he and Sellar, Jamar can't ruck by himself all game. Perhaps when/if Gawn gets going we'll be able to play our talls by ability rather than necessity.
  17. "influence the future of your existance". Big call. It's a football match.
  18. It starts and ends with the mids. We can rotate the deck chairs in the back line all we want, but when Boak, Ebert, Cornes, Wines and Hartlett are managing 31 I50's, we're on a hiding to nothing. They had 6 players with more than 5 I50's. We had one (Jones). Terlich, McDonald and probably Dawes would be walk up starters for mine. Personally, I'd add Jetta to that, based on reports of his pre-season form (continued yesterday at Casey apparently). Then add Blease for a full game. But only one of those are a mid, so hard to see that (m)any of these changes are going to address the underlying problem - in terms of player personnel in any case.
  19. I realise that it's hard at the moment, but a) we don't know what happened in the rooms, and b) we don't know the context for what happened. Even on the info available, it's clear that Jack wasn't the only player to speak, and if they were in there for 30 minutes it obviously went a bit further than "OK boys, bad day today, but here's the planning for next week".
  20. Out of all the posts, and all the threads, this sums it up best for me.
  21. Don't understand the Neeld comments ... as above, this is just about poor work rate, too many spectators. Haven't minded Matt Jones for a first game, doesn't look out of his depth.
  22. ... by one poster. Give it a rest RR.
