Did we trade in Easton Wood last year without me knowing?
-
I might nominate for the AFLW draft if that happens.
-
If that day happens, Wise, I'd prefer not to wake up.

I woke up with twig and both giggleberries still in tact, so I can now ignore this thread.

Preseason Training - Week commencing 12/03/18
The Chazz replied to Earl Hood's topic in Melbourne Demons
As long as they force their way in, as opposed to the game/s Joel was gifted last year (especially upon his return from injury). If there's a game NOT to be concerned about our big men stock, it's the one in Round 1. Geelong a very short down back - only Harry the "true" KPD. They have to go with a makeshift backline, but I think our makeshift forward line (if that's what it turns out to be), will be better. This game will be won in the guts. Plain and simple. -
Please don't tell me part of your counter argument to DMMA is that because Gawn is one of the tallest ruck men, that he should win the majority of taps? Please tell me I'm interpreting this wrong.

Post Match Discussion: JLT #2 vs St. Kilda
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Stop listening to the external noise, and take a look at where he is getting his possessions. If you do this, you will soon realise that he is using the appropriate method of getting rid of it under the circumstances. -
SWYL, there is some truth in what Diamond Jim wrote, but not everything there is fact. How can it be fact that we'd "probably" have an extra 5k members if we made finals last year? How can it be fact that we would "probably" have a better draw? How can it be fact that merely making the top 8 isn't a great thing?

Ha, you continually prove you're a troll. In this post, you say "you can see AFL clubs diversifying income streams and Educational Institutions are a great source..." You have not once hinted in this thread that you feel this way. I even planted the seed early in the thread that this was an avenue to tap in to. Crickets from you. Then, when it was announced about our partnership with Chisolm, you think we are "copying" Richmond. No criticism of Essendon doing the same. And also, you are supporting the Educational Institutes to generate income streams, yet criticise our club my club for copying when we do it!

The game against Brisbane hurt us more than the Collingwood game in my view. Lions had nothing to play for, we were 6 goals up early in the last quarter, and limped over the line by 7 points or whatever it was. That was the game that cost us percentage. Collingwood were always going to come at us hard, that's just who they are. They had the chance to end our season, and did just that (with a combination of our own doings too). I will assess where we are at for 2018 after Round 3. Two games there that we should win, and another against a false flag favourite. We start the year 3-0 and I will believe that Top 4 is ours to lose. Get to 2-1 (losing to Geelong), and I think we will make the bottom part of the Top 8. Lose one of North or Brisbane, I will be back on the phone to my psych, cancelling my Dan Murphy's account, and will be looking forward to holidays in early September. Yes, it's a long season, but the first 3 games will show which Melbourne we are.

I think the biggest problem with JKH is that he has been playing a lot of inside mid minutes at Casey, which as we know, is a tough position to crack in to at senior level. It does appear to me that the days of playing someone in a certain position at Casey, then picking them in a totally different position in the senior are over. This is a good thing, but also can show how far off a player is, even if they are performing well at Casey. Goody is after flexibility/adaptability in each player. That said, the primary focus for all of his players is contested ball, so if they can't get it at senior level, they will spend plenty of time at Casey. It takes someone that is excellent in their role to be excused (ie Jeffy).

10 years ago, yes, but I don't see it as a list clogger these days (given the state of our list). I see him more the type of player we need on our list at season's end, so that the compulsory list management decisions are made easier.

Our alignment with Casey, and the work that we do in that region is where we are gunning for the "AFL undecided", et al, that you talked about. Partnering with an education provider is more about what I said than what you said. Yes, we will be happy to pick up a few extra members here and there, but the primary purpose of this partnership is to provide an additional generation of income.

Without sighting the MOU, I'd imagine that Chisolm can now promote their Dip Sport Development/Dip Sport and Rec Management course to have an element of it delivered at the MFC. By having access to top class facilities such as what an AFL club can offer, they (Chisolm) would be hoping for an increase in student enrolments. They could also have access to the Casey facilities, given the course is offered at the Cranbourne campus. In return for the MFC, for opening their doors to these students, I'd imagine there will be a financial incentive for the club. With the course costing around $20k, we could charge something like $5,000 per student to learn in our facilities. If we can build the program to get around 100 students per year enrolled (it's only a 12 month course), there's a potential $500k income stream for not doing a huge amount. For Chisolm, linking with any AFL club will be a big selling point for students. It's also something students wouldn't tend to walk away from depending on what club. Just having the chance to work with any club is a big drawcard. That's only rough guess of what could be the agreement.

Said it before, and will say it again, he's a rich man's Jeremy Howe.

I raised the idea of linking with an education provider, similar to what Richmond has done. Essential services is where you will generate an income stream, either by creating something yourself, or a strategic partnership. A few months later, we announce our alliance with Chisolm. The only feedback I've heard from DaveyDee has been how we "copied" Richmond. No communication acknowledging that my idea had merit, and definitely no follow up when the club made the announcement. DaveyDee picks and chooses who/what they respond to. It's rarely when there is a chance of a decent discussion, and they would much prefer to dismiss the views of others, take pot shots at the club, or just being a sarcastic poster that comes in and tries to flex their muscles by trying to convince us that they know best.

So they are going back to something that wasn't broken? I seriously don't know what your issue is.
-
Well, why are you whinging that they are changing it back then?
-
The players didn't warm up on the ground until late 90's/early 00's. Prior to that, it was warm ups in the dressing room, that's it. Did you complain about them changing something back then that wasn't broken? I suspect not.

Family Day 2018 Returns to the 'G (Sunday 4/3/18)
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Are these the 2018 "guns pics". -
A very good post, which I'm sure will get lost with DaveyDee. From what i have seen/read of it, the report is quite poor, for many of the reasons that you listed above. The author is trying to link a 3.5% difference in domestic violence cases between different LGAs from the same region, with the fact that an AFL club/s have a venue with gaming machines in these areas. Nowhere in the report have I seen information on the amount of gaming machines in each area, or further to that, how many bottle shops there are. Given the geographical location of our venues, I Can't believe we are being dragged in to this argument...

I remember a couple of years ago Casey were playing at Punt Rd on the same day we were playing at the MCG. It was just before our game (in the traditional reserves time slot), so they broadcasted the game on the big screen. Would've been better if it was payed at the G, but some telecast was better than nothing!

The pregame warm up was a sure way of telling if our players were on or not. Meant I could go to the game, and potentially leave before the opening bounce if I didn't like what I saw. Was a very accurate reflection of how we'd go that game. The positive is that if we are warming up less, we might actually run out a full game. Would love to see the return of curtain-raisers.
