  1. Where do you play him?

Great hands, booming kick - i thought he was better out of goal today, but he is wary of Miller, who likes to play 70 - 80 metres out.

I thought he had a shocker today, maybe he needs a spell at Casey?

He has had a shocking past couple of years. He does none of the things Bailey is trying to instill into our players. He does not chase, doesn't tackle and he does not attack the ball with authority. I watched him close yesterday as I have been calling for his head all year and on at least three occasians he was within 10-15 mtrs of the ball with hands on hips ball watching !!!!

All this from a number 10 draft pick. He needs a extended spell at Casey and if no inprovement is seen he must be traded

  2. Great to see the jack in the box back. Can you believe people have been posting he will be no good or offer little to our forward line !!! I can't wait to see him. He can only bring others in into the game. Go RUUUUUUSSSSSSSSEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!

  3. WTF? If u don't like the post, don't read it and if u haven't anything constructive to say, then [censored] off. The only embarrassment here is u mate.

Spent months putting tossers in their place for pissing all over my team and fellow supporters in the h-sun footy but to see it here when we're all supposed 2 b on the same side, is a disgrace. Try an tell other people what to talk about- who the [censored] do u think u are?...

ANYWAY, back to topic... The young VINEY is built like a brick poophouse already, geezus! Good to know that while the gold coast are skimming the cream off the draft brew in a couple of years that we may have a good, young player waiting in the wings that they can't touch.

Very timely if it works out that way.

    Hey demon3 have a read !!

  4. Robbo selected this week.

My son watched Casey v Dolphins last week. Said Robbo still has defensive deficiences.

Robbo was brilliant at contested pack marks. Once ball hit the ground, Robbo stagnant. Game does not allow for this these days.

If we are working on this theory we can leave out Bate & Newton aswell. Robbo will bring others into the game aswell as freeing up others to play in more preferred positions.

  5. They are young and dont need desperate fools like you putting pressure on them. In fact i find this whole thread just a bit unsavoury.

I'm a desperate fool who hasn't seen a flag in my lifetime and wondering if I ever will. I will put all the pressure I like !!!! I'd take take Jamie duursma's son if he could play. If you don't like the thread read something else.

  6. the priority pick would make my year. its our last chance for decent picks before gold coast comes in. theres no point in winning more than 4 games. if we do, i'll be so [censored] off

I agree, We need these picks before the draft is comprimised. Three more wins for the year would be nice though. My choices would be in order 1. Collingwood, 2.Essendon and 3.Carlton

  7. COBURG TIGERS

    Backs Raines Silvester Morgan

    Half Backs Connors Thursfield Oakley-Nicholls

    Centreline Clarke Coughlan Collins

    Half Forwards Cousins Vickery Pettifer

    Forwards Nahas Schulz Edwards

    Followers Simmonds Thomson Cotchin

Interchange (from) Allan Browne Caruso Carrick Gourdis Hislop Hislop Horne Jordon King Liddle Putt

That Coburg side looks better than the Richmond side !!!!

Maybe this is what Dean has in mind, maybe its not but it seems more than a coincidence that he is suddenly moving toward youth. With the whisper that Mcnamara may play on the weekend is this the case? Seems there are only a few spaces to fill here for what might be a good team going forward.

    Thoughts please

A couple of priority draft pick this year and I think we have something to work with. Before I get shouted down about draft picks, We can't rest our forward line on one kid.

  9. We need to start playing attractive Hard Footy, then the prospect of a good crowd at the 'G will not be a problem.

I hate the concept of "the Boutique" stadium" its too much like separating the A sides from the B sides. "Toss the Demons the scraps & they can play at Princess Park or whatever toy ground they have in mind.

Fu@#$%ck Princess Park there is no parking, the sun is in your eyes all day, & worst of all Carltank get Paid.

Last Sunday was a disgraceful fixturing decision. But the 'G is our HOME

Great post !!!! I couldn't agree more. If more of our members and supporters (14,000 pathetic) showed up the 'G' we would getbetter returns. The main reason I live in Melbourne is to go and watch my beloved DEES, If we start moving games from the 'G' we disillusion the people that matter most THE MELBOURNE MEMBER !!!! As Chris Connelly said ' THE MCG IS OUR HOME GROUND, EVERY BODY ELSE ARE JUST TENANTS'.

TURN UP ON SATURDAY AND SHOW THEM WHAT WE GOT !!!!! GO DEES

  10. Stats are one thing, What they don't show is his lack of pressure when he doesn't have the ball. This guy does not chase, he manages to find that spot on the ground call NO MANS LAND all the time and on more than one occasion on Sunday he took short steps to avoid contact NOT GOOD ENOUGH !!!! I can't understand how this guy still gets a game.

  11. What exactly is Robbo going to teach the forwards. Newton has limited if any upside, Miller plays to the best of his ability. Watts doesn't need lessons from Robbo and if he does he was a poor pickup. Bate just needs to learn to play to his strengths which don't include high marking. Although I have enjoyed Robbo's career he isn't part of the future. The current AFL team is built around just that, the "team" Robbo is an individual and that's fine but his day's are numbered. Playing him will have little to no benefit. In his day he was an average player in a relatively stong forward line, those day's are gone.

Come on Roost it, For the last 16 games I have watched two of the most inept players run around our forward line in Bate & Newton. I would love to go to this weeks game and watch Robbo tear it up !! I agree he is not the future but to say he can't teach our young guys a thing or two is ridiculous. At least this week we might see a bit of forward structure and free up the likes of Petterd to play in more familiar roles thus improving their development, Not to mention our hard working midfield and backline might get some reward for their efforts !!!!

  12. I gotta say, it just didn't feel like a footy match to me, almost eerie. The time slot/weather is obviously no excuse from a hardcore fan analysis, but there's no question it comes into play for a large chunk of our fanbase (the more casual fan and families). I was only in Level 2 Reserved Area and 2A, but the lack of kids and families was quite glaring. We can't get carried away with these admittedly impressive membership numbers. Clubs are doing wonders padding numbers with small game packs/junior packs/our MCC/MFC option. The fact is that we are struggling side playing the future card, exciting for the 'faithful', possibly not as enticing for the more casual/fairweather fan who would be just as happy to watch at home. Fact remains that we will struggle to pull crowds for the interstate matchups at the G on our regular crappy Sunday arvo timeslot. 4.40pm + weather was always going to compound the problem (though even I thought we could push 20,000 given the win last week).

Well said !! Spot on with everything.

  13. At least Michael Newton tries, He is simply not blessed with ability. I feel sorry for Bailey who has no option but to play this guy. I implore all Melbourne supporters to watch Matthew Bate closely for just one game and take note how much of a pretend footballer he is, This guy does not chase, Consistently finds that spot on the ground called NO MANS LAND and on numerous occasions takes short steps to avoid contact. NOT GOOD ENOUGH !!!!
