Thought the difference was ball use, we butchered it far too often, turnovers after all the hard work to get it. Losing Brayshaw so early was a blow, but I thought Neal Bullen had a good game. The dropped chest marks and undisciplined free kicks gifting them goals didn't help either. Another pre season and we will be better equipped to tackle these top sides.

I'd also lock in Garlett and possibly Kent and Vandenberg. Also you don't think Lumumba and Dunn are part of our plans going forward?

Yes he does, and Ive always thought he is a dead ringer for a young Brian Dixon, Melbournes premiership hero. -

Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)
DeeZee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
This group of youngsters reminds of 1987 where we had a great list of players coming through like Stynes, Lyon, Schwarz,Neitz,Viney etc... Gawn, Hogan Brayshaw, Stretch, Neil Bullen, Vandenberg,Petracca,Kent ,McDonald etc.. Are the future, and it's happening now. No looking back now, believe in this team, they want success. We have a game plan and some good players to implement it. We also have some experience and leadership now with Jones, Vince,Cross,Lumumba,Dawes,Dunn ec. , and some good coaches who provide a consisitent message and stability. -
Absolutely brilliant stuff......if Jesse says we will be unstoppable in four years he must be planning to stay.
-
I have no doubt that errors in match day coaching, firstly in allowing Oxley to be the loose man for so long, and not getting instructions out to defend our lead and get numbers back yesterday had a hand in both losses.

We have played some pretty exciting footy over the last two weeks, and even though we didn't come away with the win in the end , I really don't think we are that far way from being a good side. A young developing side like us can't really afford to have four or five injuries to first 18 players like Kent, Vandenberg,JKH,Salem, Garland, Petracca, Dawes Trengove etc.. But as our depth Improves and we add four or five quality players to our list each year we will start to rise no doubt. I know it's been frustrating but we are on the precipice and really not too far away from some real success.

Still feel gutted today....this loss really shook to the bone.
-
That loss was hard to take....never seen my son so upset over footy. When are ever going to have some bloody joy?
-
True but not everybody fits that mould , they are pretty rare, which is why I think we have a beauty in Petracca.
-
I see Bullen as a Sammy Mitchell type, who will perfectly compliment Brayshaw a Selwood type and Petracca a big bodied midfielder in the Fyfe mould....recruiting for specific needs.

In a day where our midfield had a great game, the forwards and backs were beaten. Oxley and Cloke were the difference, and Fitzpatrick and Dunns gift goals cost us any chance of winning.
-
Thought we lost a bit when Vandenberg went off, and loose man Oxley probably won the game for them in the end. Saw the future of our midfield there with Brayshaw and Viney having great games, bring on Petracca.

It is something to note that Watts hasn't improved and Howe has gone backwards under Roos.
-
Kent is best 22 Salem is best 22 JKH is best 22 Tyson is best 22 Dawes when fit is best 22 Petracca will be best 22 when he comes in Trengove is worth another shot. Matt Jones , Mckenzie , Jamar and Bail, possibly Michie have their papers stamped already. The hard calls are Watts, Howe and Grimes, who typify our problems with lack of leadership and consistency. One or all may be traded end of year if they don't show some real grit. I get the feeling that the next four weeks will make or break careers.

King is right about constantly bringing up the past, but we haven't been terrible in all games this year, it's just that he prefers to focus on the negatives. Any fool can see see we are a better side this year than last , just have to do it more consistently. I'm not huge on Nate Jones comparing our young stars to Jonno Brown and Selwood either, you wouldn't see a Hodge say something like that. Come on fellas, let's create our own identity ...our own history , shall we?

By car, but he has to pick up Jeffy Garlett now as he has lost his licence .

Apart from taking a hanger every two or three weeks Howe has been absolutely useless this year. He had only six touches last week, must be dropped.

The fact that Lynden Dunn is our vice captain says it all really.
