  1. Sorry, I missed this at the end of last week. Just had a bit of a teary at this video. What an inspirational person. Love Nev. Great little video. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2017-04-29/100-games-neville-jetta
  2. Apparently so, mate. Him trailing in his opponent a couple of times really annoyed me. His first half in particular lacked intensity IMO, but let's agree to disagree. I'll take 4 goals any week from him as well, but I felt his stats were misleading.
  3. Got nothing to do with the blunders. I don't care if Jack makes the occasional error by foot, because it's pretty rare. I do care if he doesn't bring the required intensity. He didn't IMO. I'm sorry. No, I was genuinely disappointed with his intensity. I don't sit here bagging Watts every week.
  4. How was I wrong here? I said he wouldn't go out...
  5. Interesting hearing Tom get the votes. Also interesting that Dom was cleaner in the wet on Monday night. Maybe it was the 5 day break? And thanks for the well wishes, mate.
  6. Indeed, mate. I had to watch the replay before sleep time and naturally had to read the post match thread. She's good like that.
  7. His mark today reminded me of his contested mark on the wing in his first game. It was taken on the GWS captain, Ward. Very Michael Voss too.
  8. This issue is, mate, where does he go when he's not in the midfield. We can't play him there the whole game. Maybe on a wing, but I can't see him playing forward. I think his cliff is coming up still. He lost his feet a number of times today and he just looks old to me. We'll see though. Hopefully he can recapture some of his 2015 form. Helps when you dominate the opposition for possession. Haha, thanks mate.
  9. Thought it was pretty ordinary too, mate. Only the ring accompanied me today. Loved Jack's shout out to Jesse though. Great to hear. Jones used the ball poorly today, but I think we underestimated just how much better Viney, Tyson and Jones are with Lewis in the side. Reminds me so much of an in form Jake Stringer. That's right. And as Watts said, he's a calming influence. Amazing a player can have that much impact in such a short time at the club. Brilliant stuff!
  10. Bloody brilliant, mate. Don't really care if we win ugly like that for the rest of our marriage. Thanks, mate! And get to go along with her to watch her Hawks get smashed by some other toffy mob next week. First time we've been together since 2009. I'm quite loud...
  11. Just watched the replay and the commentators got stuck into him as well. He undoes so much of his good work with horrible decision making and dreadful kicking. He was really important last week with his intercept marking, but this week he was a bit of a liability. 10-15,000. There were 44,000 there. They had 30,000-35,000. Agreed. His kicking actually seems to be getting worse. Won't get dropped after collecting 29, but as soon as he fails to gather a lot of it, I'd send him back to Casey to work on his kicking. He did kick a perfect pass to Trac for his last goal - kicked it goalside for once. But yeah, really struggling with his kicking.
  12. Well, a terrific weekend. Got a bit loosy goosy on Saturday night and got married to the Hawthorn missus (still haven't converted her). And then enjoyed the all important four points against those floggy Bombers. They looked tired and slow, whereas we were energetic, switched on and fierce. The kicking for two quarters was terrible, but our effort closed that gap. A great game from Viney, Oliver, Petracca, Lewis, Pedersen, Hibberd and Frost. Hunt had his moments (but kicked poorly), Dom (also kicked poorly again - WTF is going on? I can't recall him hitting a target by foot) and Bernie looks better in the midfield - get him out of defence, he's hopeless there. Thought Hannan played a nice game too. If Viney's game is a sign of things to come in the next few weeks, our midfield will start to look scary. Oliver keeps going about his business. We say that every week. But 18 possies going into the last. Was glad to see him get above 30 again. What a star. Frost's kicking has really improved, while Hibberd and Lewis make our backline look very, very good. Handy game from Pedo. Let's see what his consistency is like. From an intensity perspective, Jack Watts was very, very ordinary. He played from behind, failed to tackle stronger and probably went at about 10% all day. But he's a clever, skilful player and things went his way today. Happy wedding present and a bit unexpected, as was the St Kilda win. Unlike my confidence going in to the Freo and Richmond games. Maybe I should keep expecting to lose? Finally, a little thing I noticed was Petracca slapping Hurley on the arse and vice versa. Does anyone know if they're mates?
  13. He's a bit like Rex Hunt. Just gets really excitable and that's entertaining to some people.
  14. Agreed, mate. I think often people feel like they have to point out an area of focus to work on, but I think this is misplaced.
  15. I've seen enough of Gus in the midfield (the back end of last year) and Greene in the midfield to compare them. That's not to say neither one can improve on their deficiencies, but right now Greene struggles in the midfield. He's an AA forward, not a midfielder. GWS were ready to give him up for 'a bag of crisps' as a midfielder.
  16. The back six is the most experienced back 6 I can recall in recent years. All of Hibberd, McDonald, Jetta, Lewis and Vince have played 85+ games. Only Frost (42 games) has played less. The problem is they haven't played a lot of football together, but given a bit of continuity, I reckon we'll start to see lower scores kicked against us and these guys form a miserly defensive unit. Staggering. It really is. Except not everyone tackles, mate. Against Freo Hannan, Kent, Weideman, Watts and Harmes laid 5 tackes between them (FTR, Watts laid 2 of those). It was not a surprise to see Hannan and Kent out of the team the week after. It was the first week that we failed to take the game on and Goodwin noted that we didn't play the way we wanted to play. There was clearly a focus between the Freo loss and the Richmond game on tackling and ANB (9), Harmes (8), Frost (7), JKH (7), Oliver (7) etc. The only two to not lay a tackle were the ex-Don boys. Harmes was absolutely cooked in the final quarter against the Tigers. Not surprised to see him out.
  17. I'm not saying unforced errors are acceptable. I'm saying, IMO, Gus is a way better footballer in traffic than Toby Greene.
  18. This is what I was saying, mate. His errors are more unforced, whereas Greene, IMO, doesn't like the hot stuff. He did have the fumbles this year, but that's more a form thing, than an implied pressure thing IMO.
  19. There's a difference between pressured turnovers and unforced errors. Brayshaw delivers the latter, whereas Greene shits himself when midfield pressure comes his way.
  20. I'm surprised by Stretch and Harmes out. Stretch did look tired last week, but he hasn't been rested, he's been specifically omitted. Their pace would have been handy through the midfield.
  21. Because Brayshaw doesn't turn it over in the midfield or panic, whereas Greene panics and turns it over in the midfield.
  22. Our midfield only looks incredible if Jones, Viney and Tyson can all find form.
  23. Pedersen and Watts were the only two who seemed to be rucking today. Expect some chop outs from others very occasionally. Not really sure where the 'play Tom McDonald in the ruck' came from, but it doesn't seem likely, unless it's for a moment or two during the match.
  24. Given the game is at Etihad, if it came down to these 5, Tyson and Bugg are the slowest, so may well miss out. I think Pedersen should ruck the majority of the game as he's too slow to play another position for the majority of the game. Pedersen to ruck 60-70% of the game, with chop outs from Melksham, Lewis, no one, Watts and TMac. Would keep Frost down back on Daniher and he's not the greatest ruckman anyway.
