  1. shot number 4 in transition from defence for them. this smells like the bulldogs game so far.
  2. What's it like inside? I haven't seen a single Melbourne or Collingwood scarf on my walk from CBD. Very weird.
  3. Still lots of tickets on level 1 of AFL Members. A dead giveaway of a small crowd for a Collingwood game. I reckon 55k. Tops.
  4. Kolt worked his way into.
  5. Would Petracca have even gotten a game in this side?
  6. Jesus... Stay safe!
  7. Who were our line coaches in 2021?
  8. West Coast loss.
  9. The idea of a "rebuild" in the traditional sense is in my view flawed. You need to be in constant "build" mode ala Geelong, Sydney and even Hawthorn to an extent. You fail quickly and go all in to make your list better. Otherwise you risk bottoming out for too long like North and West Coast. Richmond is in for a world of pain. We have plugged holes with bandaid solutions, and the one long term solution to improve our list in Grundy we gave up on after 10 rounds despite us having played the best football we've played across two seasons during that period. In the span of 24 months we'll have lost Jackson, Grundy, Bedford, Brayshaw, Harmes, Jordon, Neal Bullen, and Hibberd. That's a combination of walk-up 22 and emergency depth. The depth we've replaced them with outside of Windsor just hasn't been sufficient. You win some and you lose some but we are on a one-way ticket to being perennial run-withs like Adelaide; plenty of talent but a dip in quality below your top 22 the size of the grand canyon. Goodwin can't afford to rebuild and I am sure he is aware of that. He wants to win now. They need to be far more aggressive but also patient. I still can't get over the Grundy fiasco. It's honestly making me question Gawn's place in our current predicament especially after Jordon Lewis' comments last night about certain players running their own agenda. None of it makes sense when you really think of it. Some here have an aneurysm whenever Grundy is brought up but I can't ignore the obvious alignment with just bizarre list and cultural abnormalities that persist. Now Houston doesn't want to come here. Who would the way we treated Grundy? And now ANB is leaving, plus your best player is disillusioned.... I'm sure players are lining up to come here... Goodwin and the football department need to start taking big risks now or he needs to step aside. And please stop bringing in plodders that can barely get a game at non-finals teams. If a player isn't best 22 at a bottom team then they shouldn't even be considered.
  10. Well yes that's the point I was (probably) trying to make. I am battling daycare sick and piled with original codral so forgive my crypticness. If it's mistaken for hyperbole it's because it is. But I should be clearer in my hysteria.
  11. Phew well that puts me at ease.
  12. I don't disagree. I have two kids. Like I said i am sure his reason is genuine. I just can't escape the timing of it all.
  13. He signed on for three more years in April 2023. He'd have known a baby was on the way. I know a lot can happen in a year and half, hell I was excited to start my new job in June 2023 and now I'm looking for the door. But he'd had ten years on the place prior to signing. Sorry but somethink stinks. I'm sure his reason is genuine but seems like a "may as well at this point" scenario.
  14. Port, GWS, Carlton, Brisbane. Four games we lose through just dumb football. Like why are you hanging back defensively with 1 minute left? Push up! Put pressure on them. Anyway, good riddance this season. Let us never talk about it again.
  15. Peak Billings snap on goal.
  16. lol subbing JVR out.
  17. Late season game against Sydney rings a bell. Similar vibes tonight. Had beaten them earlier in the season. Then got pumped.
  18. night games against non-vic clubs just don't work for us.
  19. We aren't winning the Collingwood game. We never looked like winning. Yes we had a million more inside 50s but we were basically playing marker's up. Arguing losing Brayshaw lost us legs doesn't make sense because we dominated possession. We never looking like winning even when Brayshaw was playing. Against Carlton we were the better team for probably 70% of the game and had a chance to put it away probably 6-7 times in the last. Shocking coaching, poor player management and poor selection cost us that. Combined with poor onfield leadership from Viney, Petracca and Oliver who all made poor decisions in that last quarter. We badly choked and it had nothing to do with losing Brayshaw. Honestly if your argument is that we didn't win the flag because we lost one player, then we are in serious trouble. I totally respect the spiritual and cultural impact losing Brayshaw had, but I strongly recommend going back and watching the Carlton semi again if you dare. Our gameplan, finishing, rotations... *we* lost that and it had nothing to do with losing Brayshaw.
  20. I mean, we've lost 4 straight finals all at the MCG after two top 4 finishes. That's not just rare. It's glorious in its ineptness. 2024 isn't the only blemish in all of this. We've been working towards this for a while.
  21. He doesn't say anything new but nothing he says is wrong. Controversially he says that offering Brayshaw, a player only one concussion away from retirement, a six year contract was a mistake. He's not wrong. He also alludes to the club knowing about Oliver's issues but still offering him an eye watering contract. He says trading Grundy was a mistake. As was gifting them to Sydney. He says letting Jordon walk was a mistake. He says we risk doing a Tim Taranto-like mistake by giving up too much for Houston. Some here dare not admit it but nothing he said was wrong. He also said that Goodwin's coaching is predictable and boring, and that it'll cost us prime time spots and crowds next season. Again, not wrong.
  22. Last year's finals really broke me. I hope this crop can recover and bounce back next year.
  23. Problem with clubs like Melbourne and St Kilda is they lack pride. They don't have large enough fan bases to feel the scrutiny. So if the finals is out of the equation, they put the cue in the rack. You can tell based on effort. There are occasions when they're just genuinely not very good. But I remember 99, 2001, 2003, 2019 and now 2024. Good teams that have bad seasons and they just limp over the finish line. Saints ain't that good but they're better than this. They were awful today. They've given up.
  24. I'd be very surprised if McAdam plays another game for the club this year, perhaps ever.
  25. They won't market a night game in the middle of winter to families. It's a waste of time. Best option is probably international students with free tickets.
