Financially devastating. Our opening home game is at 1pm on a Sunday. Our next home game is almost a month later, against Brisbane on a Thursday night. Solid 33k in attendance. Anzac Eve is an away game. Geelong at the MCG might pull in 50k but depends on how both teams are going. vs Carlton is an away game. St Kilda on a Sunday at 3:20 might pull a decent crowd. Maybe 50k. King's Bday is away. vs North on a Saturday night. 25k. vs WC, finally a home game against them. 25k. vs Essendon, finally a home game at the MCG against them. 60k. vs GWS. 25K. vs Port. 30k. vs Pies. 70k. Only two of our home games will require reserve seat upgrades for GA members: Essendon and Collingwood. For the general fan attending games it's great because we have 8 of our 10 MCG home games are against non-MCG tenants. Financially, the club would surely be livid with this draw. It's a disaster.

Jakovich, Lyon, Schwartz, Neitz, Charles, Lovell, Lovett, Viney, White, Pike, Tingay... we just couldn't stay healthy.

This is going to get ugly.

Sydney-focused Split Round to Open 2024 Floated
praha replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't mind it especially if it means we get Round 24 at the MCG. Collingwood will no doubt throw the toys out of the cot. -
Nothing. Whattsa meta with you?
-
Riiiiiiiiight. Very meta.

Melbourne's media department is seriously amateur. They posted an Instagram story of a screenshot of their browser... without cropping out the browser.

My thoughts exactly. We should have stuck with him. No idea what happened or what the real reasoning was. We were playing better than people realised with him in the squad. Would love a deep dive of how we did holistically with him playing vs not. I'd hazard a guess our performances with him and Max in the squad were better than the two performances we put in the QF and SF. We win both with Grundy playing in either imv.

Anyone know why Kozzie wasn't there?

sorry wrong thread.

Goodwin still thinks it's 2017 and that we can't defend.

Big challenge for Goodwin and co. This essentially means mini-rebuild. No more gifting games to plodders. Still can't get over McDonald playing in finals, no Woewodin in finals, and JVR being dropped for Brown. Have to start backing in recruitment eventually. Something tells me losing Bedford has hit home hard this finals series and they realise that talent isn't just going to stick around. Banking on Tomlinson, Woewodin, Turner, Laurie at least to all be common place in the 22 next year. Could be a year out of the 8 but needs to happen.

I actually don't know how to feel. I like *something* about Collingwood but I don't know what. They are just superbly coached. McRae is a very special get for them. Everyone here bangs on about our forward line but you cannot convince me they have more talent up forward than we do. It is 100% strategic. They set themselves up to succeed deep and quickly. We win long in defense and hope going to the well enough times will suffice. Never has a team been both so uninspiring yet so inspiring at the same time. They are either gifted wins through the opposition's own choking/incompetence, or they just *find a way*. They are undoubtedly the best in a very tight core of 4-5 teams that encompasses Melbourne, Brisbane, Carlton, Sydney and GWS. I am just shocked that they have won and won the way they did. Just truly shocked. Some here probably don't realise it bit we have absolutely thrown away a premiership this year with our choke in the QF. Good on Collingwood. Once they beat us they absolutely knew it was right there for them.

Gotta be the worst Grand Final winner ever. Just always find a way to win. We have [censored] away two seasons.
-
Bobby Hill doing what we need of Kozzie.

McRae leans into the 19th man. They are doing this "for the fans". We won a flag in Perth while we were all at home in our underwear. In 2022 our own players were criticising us for not turning up. Then we choke in 4 finals in a row at the MCG. McRae is a superb coach and their fans are fully bought in. They take them for the ride. I don't feel like I'm on the "journey" that Goodwin talks about. I feel like just an observer. That's the difference between clubs like Melbourne and Collingwood and it's why they've played in like 35% of all Grand Finals.
-
No. He was a disaster.
-
There's never been a team like them. They keep getting away with it. It's astounding. Brisbane was really the only team this year that really beat up on them. Melbourne kept them in it on King's Birthday, and gifted them a win in the QF. I feel like team's go into their shell when they play them.

Clarry Act of Sportsmanship against Carlton
praha replied to KysaiahMessiah's topic in Melbourne Demons
HIV has been pretty much eradicated in Australia. Further, the chances of getting HIV from simply touching infected blood is close to 0%. It is 0% if the person is on treatment. An AFL player would know they have HIV given they undertake medicals. Thus they'd be on treatment which is eradication in practice insofar as they don't stop treatment. The blood rule has way more to do with protecting the person bleeding, than it does protecting those around them. -
You think missing goals from the pocket and under pressure has less to do with strategy and more to do with "kicking". Cute.
