CASEY: Semi Final vs Frankston
We have maintained the same number of AFL-listed players (15) as last week, with Charlie Spargo being sidelined due to what is likely a season-ending shoulder injury, while Will Verrall has recovered from illness and returns to the side. Casey listed Tooradin youngster Jesse Craven has been included at the expense of Tyson Sruk.

CASEY: Semi Final vs Frankston
Preview from afl.com.au FIRST SEMI FINALFrankston (4th) vs Casey Demons (5th) Kinetic Stadium Saturday 6 September at 7:35pm Broadcaster: afl.com.auAFL - News, Videos, Fixtures, Scores & Results - AFL.com.auAustralian Football League. All the latest AFL news, AFL video, results, scores and information + AFL Live Official App A huge contest awaits at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night as Frankston host Casey Demons for the chance to meet Southport in a preliminary final. The Dolphins were no match for a dominant Footscray last Saturday in their first Melbourne final in 17 years, scoring just three goals as their eight-game unbeaten run came to an end. The heavy defeat was soured further by a suspension to star playmaker George Grey which will see him miss the remainder of the season. After an injury-interrupted start to the season, Grey had begun hitting his straps across the final three home and away games, where he kicked six goals and averaged more than 20 disposals. Despite last weekโs forgettable performance, it would come as no surprise to see this proud Dolphins outfit bounce back in front of a big home crowd on Saturday night. Frankston holds an 8-1-1 record at home this year, with all wins coming under lights. Their opponents Casey boast an impressive 3-0 record in night games this year, but havenโt played under lights since beating Werribee at Mission Whitten Oval in Round 16. Taine Barlow and Tyson Milne were two shining lights in defence for Frankston during the heavy loss to the Bulldogs and will play key roles in limiting Caseyโs high scoring ability. Corey Ellison, Noah Gown and Matt Johnson have combined for 112 majors this year and will be looking to atoned for a quite day last week, where the trio was contained to a combined tally of 18 disposals and one major. Meanwhile captain Trent Mynott made a successful return from injury last week in his first game since Round 14 and was one of his sideโs three goalkickers. He has kicked majors in eight of his 13 games in 2025 and his leadership will be crucial in such an important game. It will be no easy feat to get past the most in-form side of the competition outside of Footscray, with Casey making a statement in its 76-point thrashing of Williamstown in last weekโs elimination final. The victory came off a scintillating seven-goal effort from youngster Noah Yze, who will be one to watch again come Saturday night following a breakout performance against the Seagulls. Heโd previously only kicked eight VFL games before the elimination final. The midfield battle will be pivotal if the Demons are to prevail over the Dolphins for the first time since Round 3, 2023. Bailey Laurie, Blake Howes and Mitch Hardie all had north of 25 disposals last week, while Tom Campbell continues to dominate in the ruck and has recorded 22 clearances in his past two matches. Last weekโs win was Caseyโs first finals victory since the 2022 Grand Final triumph and there is no question the past two months have been the clubโs most impressive since their premiership victory. While it will be a tough task to silence Frankston and its passionate home faithful, Casey has every reason to feel confident it can bank consecutive finals victories to set up a clash next week against the team it beat in the 2022 premiership decider. CASEY: Semi Final vs Frankston
There are six teams remaining in the race for the VFL premiership with the Casey Demons emerging as a major challenger after their commanding victory over Williamstown on Saturday. The two flag favourites are Footscray and Southport who earned a weekโs rest and move into the preliminary finals with their wins. Their first hurdle for Casey to over come in order to remain in the fight for the flag is their semi final rival and neighbour in Frankston who have emerged from the wilderness of late. Details of the time and venue will be announced shortly.

CASEY: Elimination Final vs Williamstown
Out for the remainder of the season as per the team selection thread above. I have an engagement tomorrow so I won't be able to post regularly on this thread. Will sneak away as often as I can without making it obvious to catch the game and post scores but I'm sure the regular Casey watchers will fill in :)

CASEY: Elimination Final vs Williamstown
The Seagulls have been a plucky outfit and appeared to be in big trouble when they lost to Collingwood on their home turf at DSV Stadium, their windswept home ground at Point Gellibrand. They dropped out of the top ten and had to win there against Richmond in the final round to make the finals. They got up against the Tigers, then reversed the result against the Magpies at Victoria Park yesterday to face up to Casey next Saturday in the Elimination Final. Glad that this week's game is at Casey Fields and not DSV Stadium.

VFL Finals Wildcard Round
Going by the criteria posted above, Charlie Spargo appears to be ineligible because according to my records, he played an AFL game after July 1 and only 5 VFL games during the season. Harry Sharp played only 3 VFL games this season.

VFL Finals Wildcard Round
๏ปฟ I ran your question through an AI program and got the following response:- The selection criteria for Victorian Football League (VFL) finals matches regarding players from AFL-affiliated clubs depend on several factors: 1. Eligibility: AFL-listed players can play for their VFL affiliate if they're not selected in the AFL team. However, if an AFL club is not playing finals, players who have played with an AFL Senior team after July 1 of the season are ineligible to play in VFL finals unless they've played at least six senior VFL or AFL Victoria Development League matches that season. 2. AFL Club Involvement: If an AFL club is involved in AFL finals and its VFL affiliate is also in VFL finals, players not selected in the AFL team can play with the VFL affiliate. 3. Game Experience: VFL finals are considered different from the home-and-away season, and AFL clubs often allow young players to gain experience in the increased intensity of VFL finals. 4. Selection Panel Criteria: Selection panels consider factors such as: * Past Performance: A player's performance in previous matches, including club football and regional representative teams. * Potential: A player's potential to perform well in the competition and play in the AFL. * Attitude and Commitment: A player's attitude to training and commitment to team rules and principles. * Football Skills: A player's ability to perform football skills to a high level. * Fitness and Athleticism: A player's fitness and athleticism, including meeting specific levels of fitness shown by testing and indicators. * Versatility: A player's ability to play in multiple positions. It's worth noting that each club has its own selection panel, which includes the Region Manager, Coach, and other appointed persons with experience in player selection and coaching. Based on the above criteria, the following MFC-listed players are eligible to play in the finals for Casey: Jed Adams, Jack Billings, Kynan Brown, Tom Campbell, Jai Culley, Tom Fullarton, Jack Henderson, Marty Hore, Blake Howes, Matthew Jefferson, Aidan Johnson, Luker Kentfield ,Bailey Laurie, Ricky Mentha Jnr, Oliver Sestan, Koltyn Tholstrup, Will Verrell and Taj Woewodin Hore, Jefferson and possibly Henderson are in the doubtful category due to injury while Shane McAdam and Andy Moniz-Wakefield who technically qualify, have been on the inactive list all season.

VFL Finals Wildcard Round
Itโs Wildcard Weekend in the VFL with the Casey Demons taking a well earned rest after the heroics of last week against Box Hill. Richmond VFL take on UWS Giants at Port Melbourne on Saturday with Collingwood playing host to Williamstown at Victoria Park. Casey will enter the finals next weekend under a complex system that will determine which team plays which going forward. In other VFL news, the future of the standalone Northern Bullants, who have recently reverted to their original name, the Preston Bullants, is under threat. Appeals are being made for financial support to ensure the financially strained club remains viable.
