  1. To answer a few of your questions. Dawes kicked the first goal & moved ok in the first quarter. Starved a bit against the wind. Spencer is playing and doing well in the ruck. Strauss who was also named an emergency for the Demons, is playing well again and is pushing for promotion. Would be good if he could get the call up for the Carlton game, the club that he had that bad break against 2 years ago. Nicholson is the emergency who flew to Brisbane with the Melbourne team.
  2. Relax folks. Apparently nothing more than a bad corkie. Off for the night anyway. NOw, where do I find a hot dog in this darkness?
  3. Fitzpatrick goal makes it a 2 point game at half time. Casey Scorpions 6.5.41 to 6.7.43 Massive possession stats to Dunn: Dunn 21, Couch 14, Magner 14 and Strauss 12 Goals Dawes Dunn Fitzpatrick Hogan Kent Taggert
  4. Into time on and Willy hit the front 6.5.41 to 5.5.35. The last two goals from free kicks.
  5. Fightback by the Scorps who lead by a goal. Nice running goal from Kent.
  6. Lead now down to a point with Willy dominating.
  7. Seagulls get the first two goals of the second term, the first from a turnover from a kick in.
  8. Great start but restricted in the second half of the term. Casey Scorpions 4.4.28 to Williamstown 0.2.2. The wind advantage is at least that so the Scorps have the task ahead of them in the next term. Goals: Dawes Dunn Hogan Taggert
  9. Goal to Taggert and the lead goes out to 4.2.26 to 0.1.1.
  10. Meanwhile, the Casey Scorpions development league team lost the curtain raiser by 69 points. 2013 AFL Victoria Development League Casey Scorpions 2.4.16 3.5.23 7.12.54 7.12.54 Williamstown 2.1.13 10.4.64 11.4.70 19.9.123 Goals Casey Scorpions Hughes 2 Barry McInnes McPhie Pollard Smith Williamstown Ball Coneay Deery 3 Anastasio Burgess 2 Giles Hetherington McConnon Norton Polizzi Williams Best Casey Scorpions Tynan Hill Troutman Pollard Hughes Lindsay Williamstown Hoghton Hetherington Giles Dorgan Deery Casley The Casey Scorpions are supporting the White Ribbon Campaign tonight - it's the campaign against violence on women and congratulations for supporting a very worthy cause.
  11. Dawes, Hogan & Dunn with early goals give Casey a three goal lead in blowy conditions at Casey Fields.

  13. This week the Casey Scorpions host Williamstown in a Saturday evening/night match with the senior game starting at 6.00pm at Casey Fields. The curtain raiser between the development league teams starts at 3.00pm. Conditions promise to be a warmish but windy so anything could happen. The team selections have not yet been released, presumably because of the public holiday.
  14. Before the start of the season, many so-called "experts" had written Casey off due to its well documented off field problems, the late appointment of the coach and some pretty average practice match form. Back in February, the Scorps were tenth in the VFL Premiership betting (at $34.00) and even now, after three undefeated games to start the season, the odds are more realistic but they're still not well fancied. The latest Sportsbet VFL premiership odds are out and incredibly, Casey are on the same line of betting as Essendon who they beat by 82 points at the weekend: $3.70 Williamstown $4.00 Geelong $5.00 Werribee $8.00 Port Melbourne $11.00 Northern Blues $16.00 Box Hill Hawks Casey Scorpions Essendon $34.00 Coburg $41.00 Collingwood $67.00 Frankston $101.00 North Ballarat Sandringham $2,001.00 Bendigo Gold I suppose the bookies have yet to catch up with the Hogan factor.
  15. Scorps win by 82 points - Hogan finishes with four. Casey Scorpions 4.2.26 11.6.72 19.9.123 25.12.162 Essendon 3.4.22 6.8.44 7.12.54 11.13.79 Goals Casey Scorpions Hogan 4 Fitzpatrick Page Rodan 3 Best Couch Kearns Taggert 2 Kent Magner Strauss Tynan Essendon Daniher 4 Bate Duscher 2 Hams Jetta Thompson Best Casey Scorpions Rodan Spencer Hogan Riseley McKenzie Magner Essendon Daniher Hams Hardingham Steinberg Tipungwuti Coghlan Leading Possessions: Magner,McKenzie 31, Rodan 24, Couch 23, Clisby, J Tynan 20, Spencer, Strauss, Hogan 19.
  16. Casey has stretched its lead to 75 points and young Hogan is putting on a bit of a show. I'll leave it to others to wax lyrical.
  17. Three Quarter Time Casey 19.9.123 to EFC 7.12.54 Goals Best Page Rodan 3 Hogan Taggert 2 Couch Fitzpatrick Kearns Kent Magner Strauss Tynan
  18. It's all Casey Scorpions as the march on to a 57 point lead: Casey 16.7.103 to EFC 6.10.46
  19. Late fightback by the Bombers but Casey had all the answers and lead by near on five goals at the main break. Some nice co-operation between Jack Fitzpatrick and Jake Best of the Scorps produced goals for both players. Half time: Casey Scorpions 11.6.72 to Essendon 6.8.44 Stats: McKenzie 20, Rodan, Spencer, Couch,Nicholson 11,Hogan 10 Goals Best Page Rodan 2 Couch Fitzpatrick Kearns Taggert Tynan
  20. Casey Scorpions holding on to their lead. The Bombers peppered the goals, but the Scorps scored against the run of play to go 9.6.60 to 4.8.32.
  21. Narrow quarter time lead to the Scorps - 4 points in an entertaining game. Casey Scorpions 4.2.26 lead Essendon 3.4.22 Goals: Page 2 Best Kearns Honours about even after the Scorps kicked the first three goals of the match. Bombers are brim full of Essendon listed players and playing with a lot of pep!
  22. Casey leads by 10 points in a tough fought game: 3.2.20 to 1.4.10. Elusive young Casey small man Nathan Page has two goals.
