The Ox Worried About the Dees in 2026
Paying $2.75 for bottom 4. Think it should be shorter. Not high hopes and do think we go backwards. But also think the trac change had to be made to try and get some high end talent in the door before tassie holds all the cards and we get stuck down there like with gc and gws. I would understand the clarry move if again got some value but we got absolutely embarrassed and I am not looking forward to constantly hearing the question is how did Melbourne let him go. Anyway, I do hope as always to be pleasantly surprised and to see improvement and a game style that will be successful in a couple of years with the next generation of Melbourne HOFamers. And to see Gold Coast have everything go wrong and have a year like our 2019 after a finals drought ending the year prior. 2 top 4 picks is better than 1.

Jason Taylor’s contract
I think the Jefferson pick was a forced hand. Need was clearly key forward. Had to take a key forward. He was the best of an ordinary lot… Rosman was a long term development that didn’t pay off. Laurie was a good option at that part of the draft. If Geelong hadn’t traded in ahead of us those picks would have been Holmes and Bowie. Howes is solid. Adams will be given more time as a key back. Woey jnr and brown jnr is acknowledgement of development pathway and an investment in that system. Tholstrup on your list is the biggest reach that is yet to pay that I have doubts on other than the Jefferson one. JT lead the build of the premiership list. Credit needs to be where it is due. Hardly a fluke. I back him with much more confidence than the previous holders of his role. More than gold coasts Cameron and much more than Pendergast, in who was so unqualified for the job I will go to my grave knowing I would have done a much job of it after watching a few 3 minute videos. Granted they would have all been contested footy beasts like Shuey , Sloane, Wines, Viney and darling to name a few. But could have traded for a few other pieces of the puzzle. The only pick he got right was Gawn. And I would have had him also.

Jason Taylor’s contract
I think he’s gone. There would have to be a non compete clause which would mean a year out. So his contract is up right at the wrong time

Behind the scenes on draft night
I couldn’t find it. Would it be sacrilegious to post the other team ones here?

Jason Taylor’s contract
Is anyone else worried that Jason Taylor isn’t signed up yet? The Tassie team build would surely be an enticing prospect. And he would surely be high on their hit list. Extremely important signing for us. Has anyone heard anything?

2026 Pass Mark
That and Gold Coast to have a year like our 2019 would be more than satisfactory for me

NEXT GENERATION ACADEMY: Rule Changes
It appears we’ve been shafted again with academies. How is this fair? Fox SportsJamarra the Cat: AFL re-works controversial draft system....Jamarra the Cat: AFL re-works controversial draft system... which would’ve changed a No.1 pick

Welcome to Demonland: Xavier Taylor
I got one of them back in the day. Alas, I was nowhere near excellence on the footy field. I’m very certain no matter who drafted me, had I been good enough, I would have always wanted to play for the Dees. Lost dreams

Welcome to Demonland: Xavier Taylor
Yeah twomey claimed him as the one he really liked in this draft. It is nice to hear that positivity. I lost a bit of it from his first interview after being drafted. But if he’s a bit of a Maynard/hibberd type I’m fairly certain I’ll like him also.

Welcome to Demonland: Riley Onley
How about ‘wunna’ - as in one and only

Welcome to Demonland: Riley Onley
This is my fav pick of this drafting year. I’m backing him in. Think he’ll be the steal of the decade. I have high hopes. Can I join his fan club?

Welcome to Demonland: Riley Onley
A bit of Finn Callahan about him. I like the look of it.

What Now?
I have a feeling we will be getting the younger Holmes. We were very big into max in his draft year and if it wasn’t for Geelong trading up in front of us there is a good chance he would be on our list instead of Laurie and a Melbourne premiership player

Death riding Collingwood for more than my personal enjoyment would feel so natural

AFL Draft 2025: Phantom Drafts
If Taylor, Cummings, robey, and farrow are all off the board, trade the pick to Collingwood. That will be a top 10 pick next year in a less compromised and deeper draft. gives us a chance to trade for humphries or hit the stronger draft hard

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
I thought we were linked with ludowke also. Could be at pick 37?

Nain seems to me to be a spargo replacement. High pick for a role player

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
looking further into than I should, pick 37 is likely to have come in by 4 or 5 picks when the dean bid could be by Richmond. This gives it 100 more points or so. might also allow a trade with Carlton either side of the dean bid presuming it is around in the top 4. Trade pick 7 and 37 for pick 11 and future Carl round 2. Pick 7 would get used up in the bid. Pick 9 slides a couple of places. And after the matching of dean we trade our gc future 1 for that slid back pick.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
If a bid for dean comes in the first 4, Would Carlton do pick 7 pick 37 and next years gc1 , for picks 9,11and next years round 2? Pick 7 would then get used up for dean, (we don’t move back a spot) they get another pick in the 30s that they could bundle to get back up in the draft with a gold coast or Brissy. And they strengthen their hand next year for a potential pick 1 father and son. Seems fair to me.
