  1. So far, we clearly have lost that one. Though all hope is not lost with Toumpas. Confident Roosy can turn him into an effective player for us. Doubt he will ever be as good as Wines though. But time to move on. You win some you lose some. For every Toumpas, there's a JKH. The Tyson and Salem decision appears to be a good decision too (more than happy with that trade).
  2. On a night suited to small crumbing players', and a night showing we needed them even more, Byrnes did jack sh!t. Used to be quick, but has lost all his pace. Will surely retire at years end. I won't have a go at him, but will say that his absence will not be missed. Howe numerous times went up to spoil only to turn it over. If you leave your player, you either mark it or kill the contest. Watts...........not sure what to make of his performance tonight. Laid a good tackle though before half time. All i want from him, is to show that he wants to play. At the moment he just seems to think he'll get a walk up start in the 22. I want hunger from him, i know it will never be on the level of a Jack Viney, but just some hunger to play and for the contest, PPPLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE. Salem, Viney, Tyson and JKH...........good signs from the kids. All tough players, particularly the first 3. All want the ball. Tyson will be our best player before too long. Matty Jones, kicking needs a fair bit of cleaning up, but he's got more toe than i thought he had. Some good runs through the middle, good stuff (just clean up decision making and disposal - but you're not as bad as Tom McDonald when it comes to those). Dawes faded drastically, but we can't expect him to dominate every game, though he tries to. I know it doesn't help, but him and Mitch would have made a fantastic partnership, so MN at least got that one right. If only............ Bail is playing some good footy too. Done better than what i thought he would. Was on my delist category, but turned that right around. NJ just a workhorse display. When was his last poor game? Not as effective or influential, but a real blue collar effort again from the skip. Grimes was very quiet. At least he didn't hurt us with his regular howlers. Terlich doesn't fill me with confidence when he has the ball in hand, but he takes the game on. Will have a headache tomorrow for sure. Jetta was quiet, but no other small defender is raising their hand up for his position, so he should continue to play games. Chip provided another avenue to goal, and is becoming quite serviceable forward option. Ain't nothing wrong with having a quality swingman. Would be happy to give him 500k - 600k a year. Garland will take a little while to settle back in to AFL pace, but he clearly belongs out there. Pederson has really found his niche, and good on him. Had/has a lot of haters, but Roosy clearly knows how to use him. Would love to see him use his big body a little more. Crossy whilst getting no younger, definitely is worthy of getting another season. Hell, here's hoping he signs another few more single year contracts. Sure he gives away a few free kicks, but he continually does the basics. Bernie, would love him to stand up more, but he is a kick first type player, which we could do with a few more of. Dunny had his colours lowered tonight. Crameri clearly won that battle. Free kick wasn't there so not his fault. Though we had the run of the umpires for the majority of the game. Found it comical that paid holding the ball for the first time of the night with a minute or two to go. Cooney's was way more worthy of being paid, but oh well. Jamar had a lot of hitouts, would love to know the amount to advantage though. Kicked a nice goal. Does a lot more around the ground than Spencer and is way more physical.
  3. He'd want to be getting his ass into gear pretty quickly. Apart from the usual highlight reel cameo, he doesn't get enough of it, doesn't get to the right spots enough, and his goal kicking is sub-standard (which is bemusing, because he is usually a very good field kick).
  4. Stand in awe? Why? He has done nothing special so far in footy. All he has done, is what is expected of him. Just because the majority of our list don't seem to quite understand that they are professional footballers, doesn't mean Jack should get more credit than he is due. I'll stand in awe of him when he has put many good consistent performances in, but not before. I don't understand why many on here seem so keen to applaud what i would determine as the bare minimum. Our last true on-field leader in any sense, was Neita. Here's hoping Jonesy can continue his good run and push himself into such company. If there is anyone on our list who is awe-worthy, it is Nathan Jones and only Nathan Jones.
  5. Stuff the mo, he's been fantastic ever since he shaved it off.
  6. I'm all for trying to get as many people to the game as possible. But 50,000 is a pipe dream. I'd say we'll be lucky to get 35-40k. 15k at least - MFC 10k at most - WBD 10k at most staying from FOW. 5k extra as leeway. 35,000 is my prediction. Saturday forecast atm isn't looking too good. So weather will also be a factor.
  7. I think Langdon deserved getting a nomination sooner rather than later. Has played several good games. JKH will get his chance soon enough.
  8. What's next? We start blaming the grass if someone pulls hamstring? Surely the turf must be sent straight to the tribunal.
  9. If that's the way of it now, why didn't the Doggies player get cited for giving Judd the extra push, causing him to do his hamstring? AFL has become a joke. Surely that should be seen as rough conduct (jokes)
  10. If Viney goes for that, it just shows how overly protective the game is trying to become. It is a shadow of its former self, and not for the better.
  11. Yep. Roosy has been able to work his magic so far. Big credit to Pederson too, as he has turned it right around and has gone from an occasional to a definite starter.
  12. I'm by no means a Neeld supporter, he took us backwards a long way, and took Trengove even further still. But with how things played out, most of which were out of his control, he would have had to have had the worst initiation and 1.5 year period of any coach in AFL history. Sure, he had many failings as a coach, but he never got a lucky bounce to help him out.
  13. he's a bit too inconsistent for my liking. Not only that, but his better games are usually against us. If he is able to bridge the gap between his best and worst performances, he'd be a handy pick-up and the tandem duo of him and JKH as our small forwards could be quite lethal. He's a WA kid also, so the only realistic move would probably be back west.
  14. The chance of Freo or WC finishing below us next year is very miniscule. So we should tell him that we will just re-draft him. He isn't a free-agent, so doesn't have anywhere near as much control over where he goes.
  15. Funny how the members get told nothing about Hogan, and find out through alternate means in the media. This footy club still has along way to go in terms of doing the right thing by it's members. Not surprised really that nothing has been mentioned on the melbournefc.com.au website (the last place to look if you want to know all things MFC). Looking at it from another angle, surely putting a long-term contract in front of Jesse would show huge support from the MFC, as well as a big vote of confidence, given that he is yet to play a game for us. Hell even get in touch with Mitch to see if he wants to continue to be his mentor. Big risk in doing so, but Jesse is so young, if he commits long-term to the club, he will have heaps of time on his side to get it right.
  16. Parker from the Swans and Patton from GWS would suit me fine.
  17. Barely involve himself? He's one of the main culprits of why we find ourselves where we are. He was very much one of the boys club who along with Schwab and Connolly, took advantage of the absence of a very ill Jim Stynes. Not only did he tell Jim not to sack Schwab along with Bailey, but he was on the selection board that appointed Neeld as our coach. He's been greatly involved, too bad everything he was involved in turned to sh!t. Wouldn't let him anywhere near the workings of our club for a very long time.
  18. Dunn should be our sole kicker-iner. What about our last goal. He decides to thump the [censored] out it well outside the 50, then we thump it in quickly to our forward line, where low and behold, because of the quick transition, an inside 50 mark and subsequent goal. It took us all game to figure it out? FFS
  19. Totally agree with your Spencer call. Jamar is basically retired and Gawn is too busy talking in to a microphone.
  20. Oh, i'm not basing it off one game. He constantly makes poor decisions and his disposal hasn't improved since arriving at the club. Sure he can run and is tall, but he virtually has zero football nous. But he's not the only one, Spencer is not one of my favourites either, plus there are quite a few who are clearly just making up the numbers. There's a very good reason why we find ourselves where we are on the ladder,
  21. The Ablett free kick was an absolute farce. But what was just as bad was that goal-line decision for the Suns. The replay with the top left screen clearly showed the ball took a massive deflection once passing the Suns fists. I'm also not a fan this year of pinging a bloke when there are about 4 blokes all trying to get the ball, with the umpire saying you've gotta try to get it out. How about they try and get it out with another 4 guys after the ball. It looks like they are starting to reward the tackler again, after most of this year, they wave their arms in the air like muppets. About time incorrect disposal was brought back in to the game.
  22. He was absolutely woeful today. Totally disinterested and lazy. Banish him to Casey for a month. Roosy needs to make it known that he will not accept any passengers, which one JW is a massive culprit of.
  23. You can add Tom McDonald to that group too. His disposal is shocking, and his decision making is even worse.
  24. Honestly, i'd rather A win tomorrow..................today, whatever. Go Dees!!!!
