  1. None of the street vendors in the Asoki area are selling bananas,

But they do around the corner in Soi Cowboy which IMO is better a better place than Patpong.

And then again you could find some bananas or banana substitutes at Nana Plaza.

  2. Goodes (pretty certain it was Goodes) was adamant that the players knew nothing about this till it happened

    KD

Read somewhere that McVeigh and the leadership group were consulted and they gave a thumbs up to the idea.

Whether or not terms were disclosed, I have no idea.

  3. With the free agency and trade period having already delivered four midfielders to date and another seemingly on the way via draft pick 9, I think its time to look around for a dangerous crumbing forward either through what's left of trading, delisted free agents or the draft.

We have Shannon Byrnes but his best days are in the past. I think we would definitely cap off our efforts if we could find a player capable of kicking goals on a regular basis at the feet of Clark, Dawes, Hogan and Howe but who can we chase?

I think back to the days when Jeff Farmer was at his best roaming the forward line and causing havoc. He turned us from also rans into a formidable team back at the turn of the century. A player of his ilk would be handy to say the least.

WJ I started a thread about the same topic about the same time.

    Your thoughts on Willie Rioli?

  4. Crumbing forwards are not as essential as they used to be. Look at Carlton this year, they relied on their small forwards and not only did they not all play well together, they actually didn't do much as individuals either. The small forward these days is generally a resting midfielder

And they used to call them rovers who rested in the forward pocket.

See nothings changed just the nomenclature.

  5. Look no further

    Willy Rioli

His dad, Willy snr, was drafted by Hawthorn about 20 years ago but was too small to have any impact.

His grandpa, Sebastian was one of S Freo's legends and could have been anything but for a back injury.

    His cousin is Cyril Rioli.

    His uncle was Dean Rioli.

    His uncle was Maurice Rioli.

An exceptional pedigree and ... he can play too.

  6. Dare I say it, if you watch that highlight reel closely you'll see shadows of Brent Moloney, just in the way he moves, kicks etc. Not relevant one way or the other, just interesting...

Looks more like Davey to me.

  7. Well I'd be very annoyed if my club felt that it had a 'perfect' list and had to dump 3 players and take pot luck on draft pick replacements. Only saving grace is that it probably would happen extremely rarely. If so, most clubs will turn over 3 or more anyway, so why enforce it. AFL seems to specialise in silly rules.

    Amen to that Sue.

Although in a perfect situation a club could delist three players and pick them up again in the rookie draft as well as three players from the National Draft.

  8. Not surprising though, plus that pick may end up being 22-23 once compo picks go through.

What I found more interesting was what GWS have offered for Pick 2 - Matt Buntine, Tom Bugg and Pick 9. Not sure how I feel about that.

If that is there offer it means that there is interest and that is their starting point.

The MFC boys have shown that they can negotiate with the best.

Suggest that the counter offer will be Shiel, Bugg and pick 9.

    Now that would be interesting.

  9. hey, mate...

    get off this serious thread...

    alternatively, thanks for bumping it...

look, people, we have a serious problem...

and I have thrown it open to the entire forum...

(there are some big brains out there)...

because us forum footy guys are out of ideas...

    Rollo

There are a lot of guys playing superules in Melb and most of them are pretty handy.

I doubt many would have time to tune in here but I'm sure any Dee fans amongst them would welcome a chance to play in the colours.

All it would take is to get an in with them and the word will spread as they are a pretty close mob, or is that herd?

Or maybe contact the SR league admin.

  10. Excuses, excuses, YDE.

I was wondering if I should put my hand up.

My last game was in PNG when I coached my side to a 14 goals win in a GF and kicked a bag of goals at full forward.

Only trouble is it was in 1973 and I'm a bit long in the tooth, now.

    Ah, the memories ............

It wasn't Koboni by any chance?

    If so you know me.

  11. A mate of mine told me we are very interested in the following:

    Matthew Janesch - Adelaide

    Liam Patrick - GC

    Jed Lamb - Sydney

I wouldn't be surprised if we got all three. He also mentioned Heath Shaw + Pick 10 for Pick 2 but I doubt Roosy would do that.

I'd be happy to get Lamb. He is going to be a jet.

And Jamar to Sydney makes sense.

What a tangle. Mumford to Hawks, Franklin to Syd, Lamb to us and Jamar to Syd. And Boyd to GWS because of no interest from anyone due to Demoland 7's post which sounds very credible.

  12. this is why its so important to build it at our training ground in Richmond, across from the station.

i myself am not far from a Tea-Totaler. I don't drink at home unless entertaining. so now not much drinking as I don't know many out here. sometimes go o the towns club to watch a game, last against the dogs I had 4 pots. spilling the bloody things, bumping the stupid table with my knees.

I want the club to grow its base, & I want the club to become open, a Club like it was back in the time of our greatness in the 50/60's... where there was a different attitude amongst people then, a more inclusive, yet us against them world.

Us against the pies, us against the Bombers, us against the rest.

We've lost our 'Us', and we've followed the world affluent trend of exclusiveness, to the detriment of our supporter numbers.

we will not survive without growing our numbers.. our base numbers, the ones which will remain strong & loyal even when down. the club g=has to rebuild its passion base & collective Us cultural attitude, where we are One.

... did you see the effect that Freo has, from its supporter base & the Passion & noise they generated, & the Lift it gave their players?... & the intimidation it generated on the opposition! & on the media people.

they put everyone in the shade.

when others like the Suns & the Giants start to climb their everest, we will fall further back.

we either shrink like violets (fuschias), or we stop this backs to the wall & front up, & come out fighting...

The day of having a club to meet at are long gone.

I will go back to the sixties, country football; and see that in every town that had a footie team, the players had a pub that they would drink at during the week. On a Saturday night you would be lucky to have 1/2 the team and a hand full of supporters there.

During the week maybe 5 or 6 players and 20 public and they were there not because of the club but because it was their regular drlnking hole.

I'm not stalking you Dee luded but you have just come up with two of the craziest threads of all time.

Get off your soapbox because having a social club would be a losing proposition.

If you want a social club do what your father and his ilk did, do what many people do today, do what people have done throughout the ages; have your group of friends agree to meet somewhere so that you can go to the footie as one group.

People like to gather and/or drink close to home both during the week and after a game and there would be very few Dee supporters who live close to the G.

Social clubs have a habit of failing.

  13. # do any One of these make sense?

some trade possibilities to ponder? who to keep, & who to trade, to build from our strengths.
    ??? Frawley + Blease ~ GWS (P1 + Adams) = Boyd + Adams
    ??? or ~ (pass on Boyd) for Aish & Adams & (Saints P21 + DelSanto & Fisher?)
    ??? or ontrade P1 & P20 to Carlton for Lachie Henderson + P10 & Tom Bell/Chris Yarran?
    ??? or ontrade P1 to Saints for P3 & P21 & Del Santo?
    ..................................
??? Gawn > Lions for (Billy Longer)?,,,, or > GWS for Taylor Adams?
or Gawn & Blease to Hawks for Xavier Ellis & Brad Sewell?
    ..........................................
??? Howe > GWS Taylor Adams + P9? or > GCS for Swallow?
    ..........................................
??? Lyndon Dunn to Carlton for Chris Yarran?
    ..........................................
    ?Tapscott ~ late 2nd/Rnd'r ?
    ?Blease ~ late 2nd/Rnd'r ?
    ?Spencer ~ 3rd/Rnd'r ?
    ?Bail ~ 3rd/Rnd'r ?

    Every year this happens.

Why would you want to trade a proven player for one that only has potential?

Would have to be the worst potential trade posts I have ever read. No logic, no thought just grab a few names and get another post up.

    You are truly deluded Deeluded.

  14. Swap pick 2 for Adams and Pick 10 ... thoughts

Try to get Adams and either of Crouch/Sheed with pick 10. That adds midfield grunt x2 to Viney and Jones.

Now that makes a lot of sense.

We are hopeless when it comes to using low picks wisely.

  15. Interesting thread reborn on Ology

GS knows who has spoke with him - funniest thing is that person also questions the logic of moving forward. He questions the paranoia of some around here.

But we have put the offer out there in an attempt to reach Tim. All in good faith.

He has just informed me in a deleted thread and spruiked elsewhere that Tim contacted him.

Just goes to show the man is a liar and a conman and the MFC are dealing with him??????

Takes the gloss off what the MFC has achieved in the last few weeks.
