  1. I don't care about the start of the season, we just need these boys right come September :)

If you are one of those looking for 6-8 wins this year then september will be pre season training.

Can't see why we would need them then.

Any way they will probably be going for post season surgery getting ready for 2015 season.

Some future deja vous for you.

  2. I'd describe him as a pretty honest footballer who's short on experience but comes with talent and is similar to young players who bob up after a few years of being hidden away in the reserves at strong clubs.

He's main strength is that he has an all round game and is versatile. He's hard and strong enough to play inside midfield, but also skilled and runs well enough to play outside, half forward or half back.

His kicking can be a bit up and down but is technically sound and he doesn't have break away pace so he's not super dangerous.

If he is to become a top line player he'll probably have to be an inside midfielder who wins a lot of clearances and lays a lot of tackles but with his body and experience it's too much to expect that yet. Just for now he should be a piece of the puzzle who has good and bad weeks but overall makes us a much better side.

In other words Magner mark II.

  3. Do you mean "Big Bob" Johnson, "Tassie Bob" Johnson or "Robert Leroy" Johnson, the bloke who sang and played blues guitar?

If you mean the third then I have to disagree. That Robert Johnson died at the age of 27. Probable cause of death - murder. On that basis, he's a slider. "Big Bob" is no longer with us, bless his heart while "Tassie Bob" just turned 76, so I have them all as sliders.

Historically, Melbourne has usually fared well with a Johnson in the team, so I think our recruiting people would do well to scour the country for a Johnson.

Anyway, that's my three sliders thanks to Biffen.

I think he means the Robert Johnson who previously played for hawthorn.

  4. The freeway bypass is a big hit though .

I dont want to get WYL started-but it's looking like a dud deal.

Nor do I want to upset KC who gives us the news.

I have never liked the alignment with the outer east.

I would prefer we concentrate on a city venue with money making potential.

We should be looking at getting the Junction Oval revamped to hold 30 thousand as a boutique stadium for home games.

The MCC MFC ST kilda Council ,Melbourne council and some private backers could get it done .

And it's only a stumble from the Gat.

Sometimes Biffen you should take a peek out of your little box and you might see how big the world really is.

  5. You don't have to be Einstein to work it out.

All their low picks will be worth gold in the form of low draft picks in years to come.

They keep the best and raffle off the second best.

How do you reckon they got all their low picks this year.

Very smart thinking if you ask me.

  6. I agree with what a few people have said, if he can improve his decision-making with the ball in hand and stop giving away stupid frees he'll be a very handy player for us next year.

Have you ever thought that when he has to make a decision he has to have a decision to make.

Last year there were very few options and if you think that thru then you will understand the 'stupid frees '

  7. Tat? Bulldogs colours. Shane Loveless was capt/coach for Tatura when I was playing. Monstrous man, huge unit and a thumping kick!

    Good footy up there!

500 games? Wow! How's the body?

Strangely the body is in good knick apart from a couple of fingers that don't look normal.

Frank Hogan from SA and Bill Cody ex St Kilda were two of the coaches that I remember.

Keith Warburton the Carlton freak was around too.

I remember giving Dickie Clay, the Richmond wing/full back a bath one day. He was only about 17 at the time.

Tom Hafey was the Shepparton coach.

    Good times, good memories.

  8. Played a couple of years in the Goulburn Valley for Echuca, earning about 300 dollars a game....pretty good paper for the 80s!

    ;)

You did OK. I played about 80 games for Tatura and we got paid two pounds a game.

Played for Bruthen then. about 40 games, at ten quid a game.

Played in New Guinea for about 4 or 5 years. A couple of games or Thailand in Vietnam, and quite a few games of superules in the NT.

I suppose all up I played about 500 games.

Plus umpired another 50 or so in the NT.

  9. Gee skills32 how come you dug that one out from four months ago?

First time I've looked at this thread for a while. Didn't look at dates.

I guess my advice came a bit late but then again I'm sure that you would have

    sussed those places out.

    Hope I didn't confuse you.

All I can say is
