  1. To be fair, Harvey has built a career on making blokes look pedestrian, 32 or not.
  2. You only have to read the next sentence in that article to see what their criteria was. Under 21 and less than 10 games at the start of the season. Which of those doesn't he meet?
  3. That BigFooty thread made me want to gouge my eyeballs out with a spoon, personally. The main thing that ruins BigFooty IMO is that the threads always seem to degrade in to "my club's better than your club" style toss. I just don't see the appeal in that style of banter.
  4. You two could possibly test out the ignore functionality of the forums and stop boring the rest of us with your childish bickering.
  5. Sorry, I committed the forum cardinal sin. I may try reading beyond the one post I respond to next time.
  6. Don't forget that once Junior goes, Green is able to take his place on the VL thereby freeing up a spot on the senior list. (This has been confirmed several times but I'm far too lazy to dig any of the threads up)
  7. So you told us twice that you can confirm it, are you actually going to confirm it, or... ?
  8. Exactly. The "sorry, it's business" line does not seem to cut both ways. Interesting that the mood of the Hawks fans on the various forums seem to be pretty accepting of Brown's decision.
  9. My guess is that he hasn't signed because contract negotiations are time consuming and the club has a mob of them to get through. Typically you'd have ~1/3 of your list coming out of contract at the same time so there'll be 10+ other players they're trying to sort out in parallel. Not as exciting as MFC playing hardball or Watts being up himself, sorry.
  10. Agree that there's nothing beyond Warnock in the KPD stakes, but how long do you keep him on the list for for that reason? I think the strategy of retaining a player as "insurance" has a pretty short shelf-life. If his value is purely insurance then I'd be looking to draft another key defender in the draft (possibly late or as a rookie if there are any avaialable?), with the hope that they become good enough to knock off one of the other blokes in the side. Then you start a cycle where you're consistently churning over your 'reserve' defender until you get one good enough to knock off one of your best-22 defenders, then that defender becomes the depth defender that gets recycled. Holding on to a player for too long when they're not core contributors to your side is just wasting spots on the list I think.
  11. Just to expand on what HT said, when you spend a lot of time on these forums (as most of us who are admins do), or are active for a long time (several years), you build up a good picture of each poster and memorable events just start to stick in your mind quite a bit (such as DemonSG's epic dummy spit - I'll never forget that name, because it came with a barrage of abuse towards myself. You'll note he is quite prickly towards me in this thread). If I was to produce a list of the top 30 or so posters, I could probably write a few sentences about the type of poster they are and what type of issues they like to talk about etc. I know that sounds really, really sad, but it's a function of being a very active member of the forum for a very long time. I can do it on other forums I'm busy on too, so it's not because of my admin powers, it's just because of reading far too many forum posts. I seriously doubt anyone is bothering to go to any great lengths to profile beyond stuff that just sticks in their memory).
  12. What on Earth are you on about? My only contribution to this thread has been the posts I have done on it. I don't know what "needling" is but unless it means replying to the topic, I'm quite sure I haven't done it.
  13. I can only assume those of you who would keep Jones at all costs were also very happy with how the Ryan Ferguson / Brad Sewell non-trade played out? After all, Ferguson was a player who tried very hard and bled for the club, as was evidenced by the fact that he begged the senior coach at the time not to trade him (who subsequently caved - nice one).
  14. This guy has already "quit" Demonland once (had his account removed and everything) - but he seems to be back, so...
  15. If you're still pining over Woewodin after all this time I'd suggest you've got some deeper issues that need looking in to.
  16. Spot on. Also, anything that makes his face just that bit more punchable has got to be a good thing, as demonstrated by the free kick he was gifted on the weekend. Nice poll by the way dandeeman
  17. Why would you turn on the board but exclude Jimmy? Nobody is more responsible for the board's actions than the chairman. And this isn't a board call anyway, it's a football department call. The board should play no part in this decision whatsoever.
  18. I'm as big a fan of anyone as Jim and what he's done for the club, but sometimes I think some of us sometimes forget that he's not God, he's just the club president. If he interfered with football department matters like that, I'd hope Connolly and co would ask him to kindly butt out.
  19. Genuine question, do people consider chipping it to the pocket better or worse than the more recent "hoof it as hard as possible to the middle of the ground" tactic that seems to have prevailed recently? The latter tactic seems to be hit and miss with the opposition marking it just as often as not.
  20. It was a thrilling goal for sure, but it was complete arse. If it won GOTY I think other more genuinely skillful goals would be robbed.
  21. BFY: Scully BF: Green MI: Dunn Jamar made the quantum leap in 2009 IMO, not 2010, so no most improved for me. Dunn's transition has been the most marked and the most surprising to me, I had him as a certain scratching at the start of the year.
  22. Will Jack Trengove make it? MFCSS.
  23. Well done lads for playing all 22 games. The former two in particular will both feature prominently in the Bluey.
  24. They're on top of the ladder, have an unassailable lead to the minor premiership and are far and away the form side of the competition. All we can do is suck it up and endure it for now.
  25. ...and now we all know who your source is next time you tell us you've got inside information.
