  1. Indeed - I haven't strictly agreed with every word Artie has said to-date but it's nice to have an additional articulating thinker amongst the forum. These types are outnumbered about 50 to 1 at the moment. The biggest shame is that one of the forum's other articulating thinkers is one of the ones trying to drag Artie in to the "pit", but I suppose that's always been a problem with that particular articulating thinker.
  2. No, he'd have been Rolling his Eyes and Groaning [capitalisation sic]. If they'd shown the next 10 seconds of footage you'd see that Cale took off to chase the ball which was coming in his direction. Are you suggesting he should've watched the ball shoot over his head and stand there and keep fighting?
  3. I gather you give no weight to the suggestion put forward by both the Herald Sun and the MFC that Stynes has been in this role since March?
  4. Starting ruck in the twos. Pumped to see Jordie McKenzie's name in there. Hope he is able to return to full fitness sooner rather than later, as he should be an automatic inclusion to our side.
  5. If you're going to embark on a trading strategy, then the best types to target are the 21-23 year olds who feel they aren't getting the opportunities they want and hoping you get something of quality. Then at least, rather than getting a Macdonald or Warnock, you might get a Heath Scotland or a Shaun Grigg. Still hardly sounds worth the effort to me though. I think at this point the better option is to just back in the talent we have.
  6. We can solve the lack of 26-27 year old problem by sticking Warnock and Macdonald in the side. Will that solve anything? Keep that in mind, as they are the calibre of 27 year old we're likely to get if we persued some. The ones who would help our problems will be too hard to get hold of.
  7. That second one is just "muck raking" as Lyon puts it. Stick to the training reports.
  8. Absolutely agreed. I cringed when I read that. Not because of the lesson itself, but at who needed to get it. No problem with the baby faced Morton and Wonaeamirri being educated, but it's downright embarrassing that Davey and Green were deemed in need as well.
  9. I agree there's been plenty of over-reaction, but somewhere on that spectrum must exist "under-reaction". I think this qualifies.
  10. You can't have been *that* ashamed if you said it anyway :D
  11. That's not a decision of this nature though is it? It's just laughable to compare the decision to have Stynes heavily involved in the running of the FD to a throwaway press conference from Tom Scully. This decision could have massive consequences for the club on the field. It's a hugely important decision that shouldn't come off the back of supporters whining because it's either the right thing to do or it isn't; how much the supporters are complaining has nothing to do with it. The only decisions that get made based on the mood of the supporters should be the ones that only affect the mood of the supporters and nothing else. Anything that has greater consequences than that needs a much better reason.
  12. Ah, the old "I'm not happy with the way a player is playing but don't know the reason why, so I'll make up one and assassinate his character in the process" trick. Well done.
  13. Agreed, well put. I'm backing him also.
  14. So he wants to run off and play for bat-shit crazy Sheedy? Hmm. I applaud your creativity in making this about Scully though.
  15. Thanks for your contribution to this thread. I really feel as if I've been put straight, thanks! This just sounds a lot like "if I want the job done properly I need to do it myself". I could be wrong, that's just how it looks to me at a glance.
  16. Yes, my view is short sighted, because I believe form slumps are generally short term things.
  17. I agree with this. I haven't had any time to let this sink in but at first glance it isn't a good look. It looks like a big vote of no confidence.
  18. This kind of logic always astounds me. There's "no place for wide receivers", so they're "perfect trade bait". Which opposition clubs are going to be queuing up for players there's no place for?!
  19. Absolutely. In fact, Nathan didn't just tweet once today, but four times. That must be like, three whole minutes he spent doing this. And that's just today! If he did this every day for a week it would add up to nearly half an hour of his life. Sheesh, no wonder West Coast smashed us.
  20. Great. A "cultural problem" of no specific nature, no details and no mention of how they're fixing it. Can't say I'd be feeling all that confident of a solution if I were a Port supporter.
  21. I don't see what dropping Davey accomplishes besides lowering the ceiling of what the team could achieve.
  22. It doesn't matter who's on the committee, anyone who's on it will just be the advisors and Dean will have the final say. This isn't the Australian Cricket team, there's one guy in charge who lives and dies by the team's on field position, so will have the final say in selection. No, I don't know for a fact that Dean has the ultimate right of veto, but it's an absolute joke if he doesn't.
  23. This ^. Of course Jordie's not the savior but it just so happens that his best skill - tackling (and general aggressiveness at the ball & man) - is probably what we're lacking the most at the moment. I love the guy and can't wait until he returns. Reading that he might be available gave the first "yessssss" moment since Thursday. As far as I'm concerned he's back in at the instant that he can play out a match, and I don't care if he takes a while to find form; he can do that in the seniors.
  24. Really? My mum has come to expect that of me.
  25. And the club and member are conversing. The club is putting forward its position on the matter as it is requested. But this issue isn't personal. The club hasn't wronged you personally - it might feel like it to you (you the letter writer, not you WYL), but that's because of your own inflated sense of self-importance you're an emotional footy fan. The issue isn't personal, so don't expect a personal response.
