Melbourne and the Football World mourn Jimmy Stynes

Respect, Jim. God Speed. -
It was a great final in the end that came right down to the wire even though there was a full day to spare. The chase was absolutely gripping: Butterworth and Faulkner had them absolutely on the ropes after taking 5/5 on their middle order. Tassie only needed one more wicket before being in to the bunny tail of Boyce and McDermott, before that lumbering goof Magoffin managed to nick enough 4s to chase down the total in the end. Faulkner and Krezja were bowling to them for the last 10 runs and were both so bloody close to taking wickets without success that it was making me feel sick. Chris Hartley on the other hand is all class and thoroughly deserved his MOTM for the victory. I'd say he and Eddie Cowan were the only two batsman who looked solid for the whole match. Also I think a "well done" to the Gabba curators are in order, the pitch was the reason this was such a great match. They could quite easily have prepared a road so that Queensland could just but for three days and set Tasmania an unchasable target and have the match peter out in to a boring draw giving QLD the Shield, but it was nothing like that. It had lots in it for the bowlers, which was to the strength of both teams. Bloody glad Foxtel backflipped on their decision not to televise it, too.

Other than making you feel better (not the club's problem), what would it achieve?
-
Being "sacked" and "dropped to the VFL" are not even remotely the same thing. Given that I highly doubt he has any intention of "sacking" anyone then this headline is more than a little sensationalist. Basically this boils down to "I'll drop players who aren't performing". Whoop-de-doo, I wouldn't expect any less.

What's your qualification in saying all this dee-luded, other than having suffered a broken leg yourself? That's like me saying my car has broken down before, therefore I'm a mechanic.

Sneaking in by stealth are we, miss? I had seen your username but had no idea who you were until just now. -

"UA" is "us around", if that helps. -
Thanks for the amazing thread.

Port Adelaide v Melbourne: No Demonland match report

Okay - you are welcome to call it as it was. From your point in the stands daisy, how did you see the match? -

I'm sure that Mark is spewing he hadn't thought of that and is so, so grateful that you suggested it. -

I know you know this b-h, but it's a point that is consistently lost on many others - it's why you can't read too much in to the results of practice matches: because they're practice. It's when new tactics can be tried, practiced and revised. That's not to say it's not disheartening when we get rolled by sides that have previously sucked - it is - but I just can't find the same level of disappointment as some when I know those in charge see this as an opportunity to learn more than anything else. -

That's a pretty disrespectful thing to say to the guy who currently wears it. I'd also say Clint Biz had cred. -
Baby sized tank will stop that. By all reports his lack of endurance was a blocker when considering him in the middle. Don't think this one will sting us at all in the long run. Maric at best will be another Stevie Armstrong - might get lucky and end up at the right place at the right time, but realistically I think he'll be just another player who doesn't quite make it.

Melbourne Football Club Commencement Dinner
Nasher replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
dan, I reckon you're focusing too much on Fan's examples and less on his actual point. I reckon Thomo (and to a lesser degree Ben-Hur) puts it more clearly in less words (sorry Fan!) - you can't gouge people for a few hundred bucks and offer nothing*. *By nothing I'm just regurgitating the words of others - I wasn't there, just trying to clear up a misunderstanding between posters. -
ffs, bub. There's typos, and then there's blatant having no pride in your own posts whatsoever. Can't you just proof read your posts a little bit?
-
Number one on my pet hates list is posters who pick out the pick out the absolute minority that see no wrong in everything the club does and carry on as if everyone on here thinks that way and they're the only glorious, rational, smart ones that see the light. It's especially frustrating when I know the poster doing it has been around long enough and is intelligent enough to know that the "rose coloured glasses" brigade aren't representative of everyone; nor are the "sky is falling" brigade.
-
Well it would seem that I'm in the minority, but I reckon they look great. Nothing wrong with looking classy from time to time.
-
Then his post goes from "going way too early" to "stating the bloody obvious". Not like you to give undue credit rpfc! I don't remember there being excessive hype around Dunn and Bate.
-
It's possible - and indeed it would seem to be the case - that Gysberts' form and fitness isn't up to scratch, but that doesn't equal "not part of Neeld's plans".
-
I'm getting the impression that it's way too early to call that.
-
Presumably this comes from the same excellent source that brought us gems like "Jurrah won't return to Victoria". Please stop posting rumours and speculation as if they're fact.

That may answer the question of whether it was an MFC sanctioned interview or not.
-
Was Liam wearing his MFC gear for this interview, or was he in 'civilian' clothes?
-
Wouldn't a better instruction be to position himself somewhere where he can positively impact on the play?
