  1. Two of the players had a sucky week one, so the whole recruiting strategy must have been a bust.
  2. I take the view that while Dawes is out, one of Sellar and Pedersen need to play, to play forward/second ruck. When Dawes is fit, Clark will play forward/second ruck and Dawes as stay at home forward. While Sellar isn't any good, Pedersen's spot was untenable, so Sellar sticks about for now.
  3. Jetta is not, and has never looked remotely like an opportunistic small forward.
  4. I only comment on the words I read, Bub. If there's some context you want me to pick up, try putting it in your post.
  5. Yeah, that's true, it does seem pretty innocuous. And if I were in his shoes I'd lay pretty low, I certainly wouldn't have a twitter account if I were a player. I still stand by my comments about abusing players online as being outside the rights of supporters though.
  6. I can't bring myself to watch any other footy to be honest.
  7. That's like saying it's okay to abuse a liney because your power bill was too high. "We" don't pay the players, and even if we did it doesn't buy us the right to treat them like dogs.
  8. Getting paid doesn't mean he should have to suffer abuse. Hell, he didn't even play in the match, why should he cop it? There's this prevalent attitude that many have that because they barrack for a club and can access the players by social media that they have a right to say whatever they want to whoever they like. People seem to lose their sense of social conscience when they're behind a Twitter account, or a Facebook account, or a Demonland account. It's something that needs to change and I think Magner is within his rights to return serve.
  9. It's a post from last year.
  10. I'm really not sure that growing a beard is such a huge distraction. I grew a beard once and found that my focus on all aspects on life remained the same as it was on days I shaved.

    I'm glad you agree.

I'm as disappointed as any, but I never cease to be amazed at how some people can take a light hearted thread that has nothing at all to do with the MFC and twist it in to evidence of how much the MFC suck. I am actually impressed.
  13. Seems unlikely that one man is solely the problem in a cast of thousands that include premiership players, experienced assistants, an experienced coach, the best fitness guy in the business and so on. I don't know what the problem is though, so I can understand why people just give up trying to work it out and just put a bullet in the coach.
  14. Attacking flair. Heh. Oh Gosh, I wish we were at a stage where it mattered if we had attacking flair or not.
  15. March fools. March to August fools, actually. I sure feel like one.
  16. I agree rjay, and I reckon Blease is a good example of a player without work ethic who was able to turn it around. For the record I heard a rumour early last season from a source I trust that Blease was on the outer because the coaches thought he was lazy, but that there was a tangible change through the year. I'm all for having the coach toughen up players who aren't up to it in those areas, but I think it's also important to recognise when a player is either a lost cause, or at least not worth the effort required when there are 40 players on the list and time and resources are at a premium.
  17. Of that bench I'd have Blease, Pederson, Terlich and Jones.
  18. Oh goodness, I just have to hear the ending to this brilliant life-saving plan. Do tell me WYL, where is a man who grew up in outback Australia, who is an initiated tribal man, with a poor grasp on the English language and even poorer grasp on how to integrate with "Western" society, going to go and be safe? Who will take him there?
  19. I've never shared the view that we as a club, or indeed any other club, doesn't want the "fickle" supporters. I would have thought most clubs would want all the members it can get regardless of how many consecutive years that member signs up, or how many matches she attends. Seems bizarre to be saying "pfft, keep your money, horrible fickle supporter!", especially when we're hardly rolling in cash.
  20. Because the Irish players haven't been using the same dodgy kicking action since they were 5, presumably, so they have fewer ingrained bad habits to try and break.
  21. Good form and injuries notwithstanding, I'd be staggered if they deemed that Sellar was a better option than Clark. As far as I'm concerned if Clark is fit enough to play for Casey then he's fit enough to play for Melbourne.
  22. Obviously Jordie did a sterling job representing him.
  23. My recollection of the theory is that it's because by the time you're in your 20s you have done so much kicking that your action is too firmly burned in to your 'muscle memory' and it's difficult to get in enough repetitions (many thousands) in to change it. Kicking for goal is a different matter because you have time to think through your kick, but general field of play kicking is a split second thing and happens almost automatically. I wouldn't put too much confidence in this as I'm just going off very sketchy memory, but it seems to make sense to me. I know that for me, if I'm playing "kick to kick" with someone I always guide the ball nicely down on to my foot because I know that's the best way to do it, but whenever I played I tended to do the Cam Bruce drop it from chest height thing.
  24. How about young Jordan Silk? It's a tad early, but he's now in his third first class match (for Tasmania) and already has two centuries in his belt including one in the final. Ripping start to a first class career if nothing else.
