  1. It's kind of funny the way that so many people in this thread have talked about trading pick 20 for Vince or using it on Jones as if they're the only two possibilities for the pick. I don't remember reading anywhere that said we'd pick Jones with pick 20.
  2. In terms of the player's salary that's true, but what business is it of the player manager's what happens in the trade? It's got nothing to do with him at all, that's a deal between the two clubs. At best, commenting on what pick his player is worth adds nothing at all, and at worst it could hinder the trade.
  3. This is a thing that's probably been around since they started putting numbers on jumpers. I agree that it's silly and goes against what I'd like to see, but it's never going to change and has no real consequence, so it's probably not worth getting your blood pressure up over.
  4. I ran a repair on the most recent crash, which in the process of getting things running again, has fixed the "likes" thing as well as page 110 of the rumours thread. This problem will happen again though until I figure out why.
  5. Yes, sorry all, life getting in the way. Current to-do list as it stands, in priority order: 1. Find and correct root cause of the occasional database errors that are popping up (the rumours thread page 110 and the two crashes on Thursday night - I suspect were all related) 2. Install the package on the server that is obstructing particular avatars and attachments 3. Look in to the likes thing. Don't even know where to start with this one. These are all teething problems that should be quite addressable. Otherwise the new site seems to fly, even when busy.
  6. A point can be hypocritical and correct at the same time.
  7. Connolly was a nice bloke with the right intentions that was just in way over his head. I did some work with the club during the Bailey years and found him to be helpful and accommodating. He's a genuine people person, I expect he'd have been great in a relationship management role, playing guide for sponsors and so on. Those potting him or making snide remarks either never met him or are just being silly keyboard warriors. Craig was a good resource who clearly knows his stuff and had a good relationship with the players. I think it was pretty clear though that he became redundant when Roos was appointed.
  8. The alternative is keeping them, which is also continuing the cycle if they don't add value.
  9. That's what I was thinking too. Scrap value.
  10. That's a pretty good deal for both parties I think. It's the way trades should be done: identify your target, cough up a fair price, do the trade. It's the way Sydney have traded for years. The alternative is the Essendon approach of try and screw the opposition over as much as possible then moan and complain when all the other clubs tell you to shove it up your jumper.
  11. Given that the player has to agree to any mooted trade, I can't see how the club has much in the way of bargaining chips in these cases.
  12. You just gave me a bloody heart attack.
  13. Thanks all - though I reserve too much excitement until the site really cops some stress. 725 users online now though and still flying, hopefully that's a really good sign. Think I might spend some time with Mrs Nasher this evening
  14. If this one isn't up to scratch it's going to be where the F is Nasher, because I'm going to flee to the Seychelles or something.
  15. You could look at the quality of the player. One possible alternative could be to look at the actual rules instead.
  16. Jack has the tools to be a better player than Todd was. I hope he chooses to create his own history, therefore improving the legacy rather than continuing it. Keep number 7, son.
  17. Go back and read what he's posted, he's only been posting it all year. Also, they finished first, and we finished basically last. Consider what difference that may make when pondering draft positions.
  18. Was lucky to get a third season in the first place IMO. I tipped him to be delisted at the end of last year and was surprised at how howled down I got. I doubt anyone's too surprised this time around.
  19. They do have control over it, it's up to them how often they refresh and so on. My Telstra phone is taking ages to see the new site, but my iinet home account saw it an hour or so later.
  20. Yes, this will fix once the demonland.com transfer takes place. Should only be a few hours. If you're using the site2 address, remember to check back to normal demonland.com address every now and again.
  21. Why would they be annoyed other than for the usual "let's hoard all our players" syndrome footy supporters seem to have? He's not in their best 22 and it's stupid to think that a player would be happy just kicking around in the twos waiting for his opportunity forever. A player in that situation would have my blessing.
  22. We appear to be online. Let me know if there are any issues.
  23. All, The site will go offline shortly ready for me to pack it up in to moving boxes and ship it from Japan back to sunny Melbourne. She'll be home in an hour or two. Don't you wish you could pack up and move house that quickly? This should solve the problem of the site failing to cope under any sort of load.
