  1. And also; for the sorry folk like me who had to suffer the game on the SEN broadcast: my sincere commiserations. No idea who those yobbos were that were commentating, but that was genuinely the worst commentary I have ever heard. The sooner the broadcasters of this game work out that professional commentators are the go and not ex-footballers, the better.
  2. Vince, Tyson, Cross, N. Jones our top 4 posession winners (34, 32, 29, 27 respectively). Thank heavens: 1 AFL class mid has become 4.
  3. Bernie Vince 21 touches to half time. I remember days where we'd have nobody have 21 touches for the whole game. What an absolute bargain we got there. 17 touches to Dom Tyson as well.
  4. Long winded post that just says "Jones was our best player". The entire "leads by example" idea is also just another way of saying "is our best player" - all the good players lead by example, it's an inherent part of being a good player. Leading by example isn't much good if others don't follow though and that has always been my concern re Jones, especially early.
  5. This thread has taken a sudden turn for the funny!
  6. I mean *you* confused people by throwing Victoria in to the discussion.
  7. They're not trying to appeal to the generous people who pumped money in when we were stuffed, they're appealing to all the folk on the club's facebook page who went "pfft, try winning a game first! I'm not giving you rabble a cent of my hard earned until you win a game!"Bottom line is that it's a tin rattle, and isn't any more or less offensive than any of the past tin rattles; they're just taking a different angle to get more people to cough up.
  8. Heaps of people would love this kind of scheme, ET. It makes people feel as if they're directly incentivising the club to win, and means the amount they pay is directly proportional to how the club goes. It wouldn't surprise me at all if some members asked for this.If you don't like it, don't pay. Really can't understand why you would take it so personally though.
  9. And Jack's point is that WA is the relevant jurisdiction as that is where the crime took place. Victoria has no relevance at all in this case, that's why your having mentioned it may have confused some.
  10. Indeed. Did anyone notice that India just lost a Test series to New Zealand? Other than McCullum's 300, I haven't paid any attention to it. Not sure what to make of it at face value.
  11. Haha, that second innings is the strangest looking scorecard I've ever seen. Someone obviously forgot to send Maxwell the memo, and why did half the tail bat in the top order?
  12. I wouldn't blame him - I'd probably do the same thing in his shoes. I would still be bitterly disappointed though.
  13. Can someone explain what I've missed with our use of the subs? After half time both our subs took the field - Evans and Barry - but the only player I didn't see again was Tyson. I had assumed JKH had been subbed out in the third, but then he appeared again in the fourth. And Fox told us Trengove and Blease had been subbed out when they clearly hadn't.
  14. It's not about the win for me, it's just the sheer relief of the fact that we played like a footy side. Every other club's supporters are going to think we're carrying on as if we've won the flag, but fuck 'em, none of them have been through what we have. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel is an awesome feeling.
  15. Not to mention that Tyson was our best player before exiting the game at half time.
  16. I don't doubt that your source truly believes this, but it just doesn't sound likely to me. Compared to footy, the money in photography is a pittance. And the good thing about having a passion for photography is that's an any time, any place thing - there's room in your life for a career *and* a photography addiction. He has rocks in his head if he throws away his footy career for the camera. Even if he does want to make a career out of it, he would surely prefer to earn several hundred thousand a year for a few more years to get himself further ahead financially first.
  17. Thomas straddles the line between forthright and provocation I think. I like that he has strong opinions and isn't afraid about being blunt about it, but sometimes I'm sure he voices them in a manner designed purely to get a reaction.
  18. I'm looking forward to seeing what Max King can do. I know he's raw and the answer is probably not much at this stage, so my expectations are low, but I still find excitement in the opportunities given to second and third string players who would otherwise be completely invisible to me. It is disappointing that neither Dawes nor Hogan could get up, but Roos seemed pretty firm on them being available for the second round. It's hard to see any potential forward line we have available kicking a winning score unless Pedersen plays out of his skin, but honestly, I'm just so excited that footy is back that I don't really care about minor details like that. More than anything I want to see if our midfield can show any signs of being functional this early.
  19. Then you have to stop and question why.
  20. Interesting parallel between Frawley and Roos himself at Fitzroy that I hadn't thought of before this article. If nothing else it's comforting to know that Roos will understand the delicacy of the situation through his own bitter experience. Having worked at a struggling company before, I too can relate to the "we've heard all this before" in response to promises of a brighter future and the lure of working somewhere you know is solid.
  21. Let's not go *too* over the top...
  22. It was Bail. Paul Wheatley remonstrated and spent the rest of the game bumping and pushing him whenever he came near.
  23. After reading your (actual) report I think we're richer for having both. You may lack tasman's youthful enthusiasm and humour, but your report ranked right up there in informativeness (is that a word?). Thanks mate.
