There was an incident a few years ago about a senior player's father cornering a 'senior' member of Demonland at the MCG to have a crack at him over comments on here about his son. This is why I always keep my comments respectful. It's okay to be angry or grumpy or not rate a player, but if you wouldn't say it to the player or the player's mother, don't say it on Demonland.

Wouldn't have a bloody clue. Too far out to judge. Yes I'm quite comfortable here on this fence, why do you ask?

A lot of those would have been in the second half when it was bucketing down I reckon. I saw a lot of smash-forward hitouts during that period when gaining ground at whatever cost was the name of the game. Would be very surprised to see those sort of numbers again this week if it's dry.

Having second thoughts, Clint? :D

Yep - I don't think it's likely that we'll see another "environmental ambassador" - firstly because Pratt is gone, and secondly because Judd was a one-a-generation type player. Carlton have had no success at all in attracting free agents other than Daisy and have lost several, so I reckon they're not a club players are looking to get to. If they're the competition we have for players, I don't mind our chances.
-
Why not? Last I checked, we operated under the same salary cap as Carlton.

Now that you mention it, when was the last time you saw it spelt with an 'o' in it?

I'm not sure what you're not buying. In 2013 he kicked 39.21, including a bag of 6.2 and a 5.1. In only two game did he kick more behinds than goals (3.4 and 2.3). The evidence is all there.

The kid hardly missed in the VFL two years ago by all reports. The action is weird and non-fluid, but I'm willing to reserve judgement for now; the sample set is small. Even if it does prove to be ineffective, I expect it'll be remedied easily and quickly.

Never really understood comments like this. None of the women I know that play high standard netball are even remotely soft.

Love it, praha. Analysis with the head, tip with the heart. As it should be.

It says nothing about Dawes and everything about Hogan. He is already an elite contested mark - it's no indictment on Dawes that clubs want to play their best stopping defender on the player who leads the comp for contested marks. I reckon Dawes is intelligent and pragmatic enough that he himself would laugh if you asked him who was better out of himself and Hogan.

I read a few of those last night for some amusement, and it became clear pretty early that most of those guys don't know much at all about our team and clearly haven't seen us play much. "Paul Roos is ruining their side" was my favourite, I literally choked on my drink when I read it. Pretty typical ignorant, one eyed comments really. No different to the sort of stuff we post on here on a daily basis.
-
That doesn't dampen it at all for me. I have no reason to suspect Hogan is going anywhere - plenty of marquee players haven't, in the face of some amazing interest elsewhere. Live in the now and don't spend your whole life crapping yourself over what might but probably won't happen in 5 years time.

So in that split second, reflex moment he should have __________________ instead? I stand by my comment of harsh to the point of ridiculousness then. If you want to blame his fumble on a lack of desire to have his head removed from his body, then I'll never endorse that and I doubt Roos will either. I get criticising players for soft efforts - a non-marking effort by one of our forwards today sticks to mind - but jeez, I think players also have a right to safety.

6. Tom McDonald - BOG for third consecutive week now. Loved how frustrated Walker was looking by the end. Form defender of the competition at present. 5. Bernie Vince - said in the post match interview with Burgs that he was "just having a bit of fun". Hope he has a bit of fun every week then, as I can't recall him ever playing with such intent in MFC colours (or maybe I just have a short memory). 4. Heritier Lumumba 3. Jesse Hogan 2. Nathan Jones 1. Colin Garland

I hope today puts an end to all the talk of having Dawes as the fill in ruck. For all the talk of concrete hands, they've got nothing on his bricks for feet. The guy can't jump at all. Question for Pig Dog et al, when was this alleged duck of Jetta's that cost a goal? If it's the occasion I'm thinking of, my view was that he fumbled it then got pushed off the ball while surrounded by three crows players on his own. I'm not ever in favour of dropping a player over a single incident, but if that's the one then you are being harsh to the point of ridiculousness.

Adelaide v Melbourne POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 3
Nasher replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would have thought set shot action would be the easiest skill to address at any stage of a career, since it is a slow, deliberate thing that the player can think through. Russell Robertson springs to mind as one who turned this aspect of his game around. Jesse and Jeff both have homework to do in this regard. -
This is the best training thread ever.

I dismiss Jones' game against GWS as an anomaly. Don't know if he was ill or what, but even if he was 100%, in terms of output it was a major outlier.
-
You must have missed the bit where Viney has a broken leg and is out for 426.
-
In terms of pecking order I agree, but I think whoever comes in needs to be capable of playing the bulk of the game in the guts if necessary (even if it doesn't pan out that way). I would expect to see Newton with increased "inside" midfield responsibilities, with the likes of Michie or Toumpas to come in to play an outsider role.

A bit drastic? We now have one best 22 player on our injury list. Pretty disappointing since he is one of the few to have played 8 solid quarters so far. Wishing him a speedy recovery. An opportunity for someone else to step up now.
