Who said I'm trying to blame others? GWS has a team of up-and-coming stars, we haven't largely because of our own ineptitude. I'm just suggesting that we can't think of GWS (or the Gold Coast) as an automatic win, even now. Clearly that's not the case. There's also a few other teams that GWS will beat on their home turf.

Why? They've got far more talent than we've got. A lot of their super-talented 2011 picks have now got 20-30 games. Pity players like Viney, Kent, Toumpas, Fitzpatrick and Gawn haven't built that much experience. Yet we all expect them to be winners. I'm not saying we shouldn't have won, but if you want to suggest that they are still easybeats you are mistaken. Let's see how much we lose by to the other 'easybeats' this weekend? In 3-4 years every team will be lamenting how much of a leg-up these two new franchises have been given.

Of course I'm disappointed the team lost. Of course I'm sick of losing. Of course I hate our drafting. But when you play against a team whose draft picks in the last two years have been: 2011 #1 Patton #2 Coniglio #3 Tyson #4 Hoskin-Elliott #5 Buntine #7 Haynes #9 Tomlinson #10 Sumner #11 Greene #13 Adams #14 Smith 2012 #1 Whitfield #2 O'Rourke #3 Plowman Plus T$, Ward etc. there's got to be a time when they stop being easybeats.

Anyone for cricket?
Amused by all the England supporters who claim in response that they were also wronged by other decisions (all of which were 50/50 at best). The only two howlers so far have been Broad given not out when he was clearly out, and Khawaja given out when he was clearly not out, both in England's favour. How many questionable decisions equal one howler?

Jimmy Toumpas
Anyone who thinks we would be shooting up the ladder if we'd picked Wines over Toumpas is totally deluded.

I think I'd celebrate with a Banana Daiquiri: 40g light rum, 1 tbsp triple sec, 1 banana, 40g lime juice, 1 tsp sugar, 1 cherry Combine all ingredients (except for the cherry) with 1 cup crushed ice in an electric blender. Blend at a low speed for five seconds, then blend at a high speed until firm. Pour contents into a champagne flute, top with the cherry, and serve.

At least we weren't embarrassed by Simon Buckley. He's a "former Collingwood" footballer now. "A former Collingwood player with a shocking driving record told a magistrate that his licence was essential in his bid to regain a spot at an AFL club. But moments later, it was again suspended. Simon Buckley yesterday pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended licence and at almost 20km/h above the speed limit in July last year. The 25-year-old defender - delisted by the Magpies in October - told the Melbourne Magistrates' Court he was an unemployed professional footballer and needed his licence to travel to games for his new club, Echuca. He was playing there "in order to regain a spot on a football list". Magistrate Duncan Reynolds said Buckley's prior drink-driving and speeding offences, plus this offence, illustrated his "apparent casual attitude" towards the value of having a licence. Buckley, who represented himself in court, said his licence was suspended last year after he had exceeded the permitted total of demerit points by accepting some of his brother's driving offences. Mr Reynolds warned him that falsely taking the demerit points of others was a serious offence. Prosecutor Senior Constable David Lee said Buckley was detected travelling at 99km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Monash Freeway at Burnley on July 31. Buckley, who played 13 games for the Magpies last season, told police he thought his licence suspension "had been sorted out". He had no reason for exceeding the limit. He was convicted and fined $1800, his licence was suspended for one month, effective immediately, and he was ordered to pay $107 in legal costs. A Collingwood Football Club spokesman said Buckley's delisting was "entirely football-related". Herald-Sun
