yes and no...any number of events prior change the present as it were. Every moment played...is in its own 'present' so you can really only look at the context of those instances as they unfolded. When Trac has the ball there is actually someone directly inboard ( cant quite make him out )...foolishly hes still walking forward...he should have held his ground ...perfect chance to make the switch and open the fat side up. Trace really should have kicked it to him straight away...but as we nearly always do...we dawdle...downfield becomes traffic jam. People should have provided options.

And here in lies a problem of viewpoints..or styles. we play a zone style defence...we look to deny the oppo forwards supply. Those three ( and there are more ) thrive on space. They can also take contested marks. So you need a Gorrilla tamer, someone to MAN up these types. So irrespective of who we have, we have a problem by design.

We've totally forgotten how to defend. As soon as Geelong had two unanswered goals in the last...and the tide obvious...the instruction should have been shut the game down, re-establish control. Once the game wrested back... the look to add to the scoreboard . We did the exact opposite. This is not hindsight speaking per se. Many have been lamenting our blinkered style of footy for some time. This game was very 'finals' footy. Imho it exemplified why we are just not ready yet. We play footy like a boxer who can only lay punches... doesn't know how to duck and weave... doesn't know how to pull the arms in and wear/sustain a barrage of body hits....no...just knows how to hit and ko lesser opponents. All very one dimensional. We lost because we can't defend any more.( Not intelligently )

There are separate issues here. No one ( I believe) is questioning the loyalty , dedication or pride of Jones. Most deserving of admiration. He is NOT, nor is ANYBODY, above scrutiny . It's well within scope when evaluating performances to put Chunk under the microscope as much as anyone. No one gets a golden ticket. For a seasoned player that does so much well....would it really hurt to look where ya kicking ?

It's been known for some club's to specifically train to run clocks down. Totally agree with above b-ball analogy ( having played over 45 years ) you learn every trick in the book to kill seconds. Footy is no different really....it's still about possession. We just blaze away......like a damaged fighter plane plummeting . This is where true leadership comes into it. ( I'll have to re-watch the last 2 mins again later...to see where anyone was ) It is actually beholden upon the non kicker to provide options.

Coaches , Match committees FD personnel are supposed to be 'already arrived' . Players might be a work in progress...but I don't accept that those in charge are on "L's"....if so ... it's just amateur hour all around. If what is.... is.....is that we're incompetent in areas where you'd think elite players would just know basic footy...ie... running down a clock...ffs that's learnt as a kid...deprive the enemy. If what is...is coaching letting Charlie medal players far too much largesse ...if what is ...is a total mismatch in the back 50......if what is ....is having a power forward live out delusions of midfieldery ...if what is...is often having the 'hottest players of the game ' counting sheep on the pine....if what is....is selecting experiments at the business end of the season...then we'll that IS ....us

Am thinking the Sqawkers are maybe a good chance to win 3 more...maybe 4. They're finding form....and run home so-so Giants showing spirit.. Anyone who thinks we're just waltzing into finals with 13...let alone 12 might be very disappointed
