  1. The whole post made far too much sense. Many won't get it. Many don't WANT to get it. It plays with the sensibilities of some to tamper with idea that what is supposed , might not be after all. This is exactly the metric that the club uses. The MFC is seeking to address issues about balance and game style/plan. It looks holistically at as situation and has an idea of redress. That's where it differs from most here who cling fanatically to the emotional investment they have of players. The club will do what it needs to. It's about outcomes. Freo is about outcomes too. Problem is they're that stuffed they're trying to accomplish too much in one period and have unrealistically put values on things.( Both ways ) But it is what it is. You play the cards you have. There IS trade next year but we need to achieve certain things THIS trade to further our progress next season. These are the real parameters of trade not the nonsense spouted by some. Go Dees...get it done.
  2. World of difference
  3. Freo didn't come to our door. They went to Jesse's. Big difference. Thing is WE own that door. But curiosity is we've thrown it open and they've gone into hiding. A lot about this makes no sense....if you accept the often trotted out scenario. So obviously very little is what it looks like.
  4. Welcome back...well you never really went
  5. I'm of the inclination that someone's hand has been forced. I've no problem with that if it suits the club. Like your good self OD I observe a overwhelming groupthink from many as to the worth and benefits of retaining Jesse. And then there's this somewhat opposite script playing out before us. Now I would suppose the club is best situated to know what's what and how to proceed. So why is the MFC pursuing a course so different to what many here would prescribe ? Why from some quarters come suggestions Freo isn't all gooey and rah rah as it was ? Freo chasing Jesse since he got here....now they can have him...they get butterflies and wobbly knees ? Bits to this puzzle we don't know. And we wait. I think he'll go home. I think the club will be satisfied. I think many will disatisfied but I think that's only because their metric isn't the club's.
  6. My bad...mea culpa Of course they will...of course
  7. There's the public fodder statement by the club. That's fine but it won't be real pass line. Am sure the club will accept a deal irrelevant of poster's views...if it meets what the club actually wants as an outcome.
  8. Hogan might not be much more .. It's about now.
  9. Didn't mean to imply you did. Just piggybacking off that 'news' Well...the 5 is a start. I noted elsewhere there most likely be something with it ( of course ) I still lean to a player. Intriguing.
  10. I'd look hard at that...
  11. Would we accept those same picks ?
  12. You sir are a rare one. Very few get this
  13. A little Birdy ( for the benefit of @sue et all ) deposited a rumour my way that the Neale deal could yet take all weekend to nut out. Wouldn't leave us a lot of time. This I'm informed is purely as result of Freo living in some parallel dimension where things are not as everyone else assesses !! Hopefully some sense enters this arena. I'm not expecting any news for or from us about Jesse any time soon. Will be very glad if this is wrong..or changed. I think others have hit the nail on head. This is as much about Freos new hierarchy as it is real values. Memo to Freo....get your shlt together !!
  14. Making the changes because we only made the Prelim. Changes get us a flag
  15. Why ? His job is to trade. That requires only telling anyone what's required. Not us. We'll know when we do. My life isn't going to be any different whether I know anything today..or in a week. Will yours ? Let him do his job ..his way.
  16. Steve...some people DO know something. Dare I say some know more than they dare comment !! Is there a lot of BS...for sure A good panner can spot the gold and gems
  17. Maybe.. maybe not...but I like your thinking
  18. Yes am aware. Hence the reference to his management. I just think Dees are trying to wrest back as much of this into their control as possible. As was mentioned somewhere by someone in media ( apologies as just couldn't give a fig to read the byline ) ...that players have TOO much power. They're entitled to say...but it's about a team.
  19. I think we're looking at things with prudence. If we require another ready to go ruck...then who ? If we're going back to the future with two rucks ...who ? Need another best 22-25 mid....we can cover. Therefore Tyson is less important than Preuss. Imho.
  20. I have a suspicion, nothing more, that there indeed would be a plan B. By all accounts we've been into May for some whiles. This FD raiding party have proven themselves quite wiley over the years. You'd think they have a contingency plan should the Hogan fiasco go south. Just my view
  21. LH , I suspect this is Melbourne forcing the hand of others...i.e create an unattractive course if remaining with Melbourne. You stay ...it's on our terms. If going...stop fn around...and manager .. go f yourself. A crude summary but gut says this is the way we're going. I think we will never be held to ransom again. Go Dees
  22. This is a thread because ??? ?
  23. A problem for the parties concerned is by my calculations Hogan is probably worth 1 and a bit first rounders. This will get sorted, but a lot here won't be happy.
  24. But how much more ??
  25. See this is where it depends where you're coming from, or indeed, wishing to go This might be a very clever move by the club. I don't suppose many might see where I'm coming from in saying that. What a circus this year has brought
