I have no problem with the club being Melbourne fc.. but the 'marketing ' is teh DEmon... thats what has to be pushed.. We are teh MFC who are the DEMONS !!The monicker Demosn at least instills some backbone, some ferocity..some.."something"... Melbourne fc just seems like a toffs smoking club really by comparison !!
-
yes 16 points in a season takes them out. But its not Richmond we need to be concerned about.
-
Jeff Kannot.. doesnt want to go there..full time. !! He wants to stymie any chance of another team taking away his lollies from that market. In true political style he just wants to effectively rape pillage and plunder the Isle whilst denying true self determination !! Its his way .Actually he'll be trying to figure out how to sell the place..as thats his TRUE calling.. isnt that right "sell the farm " Jeff !! <_<
-
Yes ..be very careful about thinking we have it in the bag.. far from it. Consider.. We play Richmond twice.. still to play Freo again..and also have the Eagles at the G !! Admittedly teh Dockers have to play the Eagles..one has to win surely lol !! Thing is.. we really cant afford any wins..not until the maths assures us.. Maybe go out taking teh tiges in the last round. The race isnt over til its over..dont get too excited...

Strangely enough the topic of this thread are not my words as such. Though I concur entirely with the sentiment. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/its-...3321624858.html Yep its is OUR 150th.. Yep the AFL have ballsed it up. As much as many try to write our epitaph.. I must repeat that oft quoted writer, whom I might remind folks thoroughly enjoyed our fair city."The news of my demise is greatly exagerated". The MFC is still here.. and we'll do our darndest to ensure that. We may be a little down but there's fire in the ol' beast still.

Possibly a notion lost to many , whether or not folk rated Paul Gardner ,is that this club is still here and though slowly, is bettering its ways. It is so only through the dedicated stewardship of people like PG and his fellow directors. The legacy of the Gardner years wil lbe that we were in a position to effect change., that we are in a position to have a hope still of contesting this wonderful competition, basically, that we stil exist. When you consider some of the dark forces that encircle us all the whiles this is no mean effort. Thankyou

yep..still use mine ( slimline ) daily..had to replace the ink thing though !! I suppose its the reverse of the viscious circle once you start inching forward bit bt bit...Be a nice change !!

Rogue.. I d adjusted for this years duplicates as I feel there will be more this year. The emotive 150th and all. It amazes me we had such a low resign rate. Obviously needs readdressing..and I saw a hiint to this in somethig regarding preseason membership "somehing or rather " in the Stynes package. Possibly clutching at straws but its fairly common in sales that you will ( ought ) to spend a lot less maintaiinng a customer than gettting a new one. maybe the wonderful pens put some off...lol

Much is lamented that we dont have high numbers in mebership. An interesting throw away line..cant for the life of me remeber who said it re Mon... but was alluded that 18% of memebers from last year didnt renew.. Thats a fair whack This year we have roughly 27000. But thats not a real number as there ar those who have bought doubles..and some for various reasons. So if we deduct say 2.5% for duplications that brings us back to 26325. Now of teh 18% its possibe some passed on, some drifted away, there were duplicates etc. what say we reduce that 18% by a fifth . This being 4032 If these members could be signed up again we would make that magic mark .. 30357 Now if we could grow that over ten years by 1% compounded..wed get closer to 35000. The point of this little exercise is to show..that even with a modicum of luck..and some better use of directions and potentials we can indeed get ourselves out of our demise. food for thought
-
Please..again I draw no conclusion and no aspersion meant ( probably none taken ..just in case ) just curious. That would indeed be a fair enough reason and, hey his money. All sounds good. Hope all this comes about. Curiosu whom it is. Still s'pose a little time will illumiminate

Cheers,,hadnt looked closely at his stats for a while.. Stats often lie but these can hardly be misinterpreted. This exactly the point. When youre trying to build rhythm into a team you need consistancy of makeup. ( well an approximation of it ) A week in week out proposition just doesnt make sense to me.

Im wodering if the drafting of say Naita might reorganise the prioties for others playing in KPP ? One stone might deal indeed with two birds ?
-
I think its bloody marvellous that anyone kicks in some money. Thankyou. ( Do I dare raise the cusiosity of why now ? I know thats pandoras box.. but curious ) Anything that deals with the crappy interest we're paying and retires debt is brilliant news. 1-2 M ..golly..

As I dont 'know" I'l ask. Who wil actually control teh new facilities to be built on Olympic park ? Will Filthville own some lease. Or will they be a head tenant of sorts. Just curious .. Cheers

Yes..been to the dome once.. or couldnt your reading skills extend to that ?? And ye smy lifes organisation allows me around 5 games a year. probaly 8-9 this year as it happens. but yes I have a life..and FAMILY Only been going to the footy for ...oooohhh 45 years mate.. go toss yourself honeslty I did note yo didnt actually answer anything .. nice post

No thanks. For the injury rationale explained elsewhere. Be buying a lame duck !!
-
If he comes back good..thats fine.. again, is preferred outcome.
-
Ok..heres where I come from For far too long we have as a club nurtured the idea..of " just getting by" or "just getting in finals" or just getting on the park !! I would prefer to see Beamer come good; but it has to be 100% fighting fit.Its a bit akin to buildig something with crook tools. The intent may be there but hte outcome was always diminished. It just doesnt provide for giving yourself or your team the best possible chance going in. If a player cant do the job pretty well full on week in week out ..then go get another who can. if you take the cash and walk across the line then you have the responsibility of giving whats been paid for. This goes for anything. Thats the way of the world. If you start making excuses for why you dont have the best available then you have written your script for failure. This is not about whether he's a gerat bloke , or he's grown up baracking for the Dees ( ffs so have I and you..what matters that come selection day ?? ) its about being right for the job at hand. We all talk about players giving 100% in a game... wel if youre constantly injured you cant even start with the hope of a 100% . Its long past time we hardened up at Melbourne.. "just able " is no longer an option..and it never should have been. Get better Beamer..thats 100% better.. otherwise negotiating a "better" contract is just playing with ourselves
-
hadnt seen that before mine posted. makes sense though.. Also.. theres another "gate" the wobblies make money from. I'l lgive them this..they arent silly !!
-
should have thought gutters perfectly adequate But seriously..why any grandstands?
-
Yep you are..we are /were never going to share with the filth. The media gets a little confused at times...poor dears. I am curious as to why the Filths training oval needs "grandstands " ?
-
I agree..but good luck getting the friday night games.. we have no clout. All fans are within 5 k's of city ? All fans work in city ? But as it happens Goschs paddock will conform to this. But then which is more important.. facilities to train in..or fans ability to watch occasionally ? Speak oh wise one...where exactly are these locations? Whilst it seems a good idea..and in a way it is. Caution. The cost of provision may outweigh any gains. . Always wondered why more isnt done here. I mean..no other team has the name Melbourne ( AFL ) Like they are going to give a toss !! Those who do already support the club.
-
Hopefully he can always keep that booming kick up his sleeeve. Hopefully he can continue to develop his radar. Hopefully he can get fit. However should he not.. a hard call simply has to be made. Unpleasant yes.. pragmatic yes.. palatable ..NO We cant be a team any more of the walking wounded. The upset to the team dynamics is far too important to have so many players constantly on the doubtful list. The brutal reality is players are our assetts, they need to be out their working not taking up hospital space. edit ..hopefully he's all mended in time to put in a solid preseason. My preference is to have him.. my comments above are just about facing realities should he ( and others ) not come up to speeed.

The reason the numbers were a bit down is easily explained. Thousands of Wobblies packed their banjos and went "pig shooting " up along the Howqua, probably hoping to bag themselves a Rangey or two !!!
