its kind of funny how so much of the arguments seem based on his greed.. This goes to teh idea he isnt worth a rather large amount of the folding stuff.. I, for one have never suggested he isnt. Its the idea that he needs to wait till seasons end to sign ...is. He plainly doesnt need to in order to still land his winfall. THIS..is the argument.. Its not about greed. Its about showing your desire to play for Melbourne as an ongoing concern.

There you have it folks.. he cant grasp differing arguments. He must lump everything into the one pot. These are differeings aspects to his being at Melbourne. That youre incpable of grapsing this does indeed go a long way to illustrating your inablil=ty to understanding others viewpoints. His fellow team -mates wil lhappily play with him. I fully understand teh angst against him.. I share it. But my kneejerk turned to a more considered stance. Was interesting that Grant Thomas essentially spoke the same idea last night.. Make him play, he has nowhere to run, nowhere to hide etc. ...on the G !! Might I suggest a recent transgression ...Moloney. Many also thought it was instant banishment to the magoos or suspension. The club thought that would be more a punishment to the rest of the team than to the individual. . They had him carry out his pennance in ful view..and at ful tilt on the big stage. Seems to have done him wonders. Might a similar stance , backed with proper retribution and warning provide similar dividends ??

There was general consensus amongst this board and elsewhere that 'that' jumper should neve NEVER be worn by a competing Melbourne team ever ...ever ...again !!

Just as I have no qualms really with what Scully does in the end, stay or go its his life I consider it totally fair that players such as Pendlebury sign for only a year. Its pure speculation ( compounded ) as to the where and what they willdo this time next year. Looming free-agency may well have more than passing interest to them. Good for them. Buit in doing so their respective clubs no where they standaand theplayers have given assurancesin the manner they can. Scully has not. That you and others seem happily convinced he is staying, welll good. If thats what appeases you. But get it through your sconce, there are others who find his actions abhorent and quite disrespectful to the club. There was a bit to read between lines . Gary is always somewhat cryptic these days when commenting on Melbourne I feel. He noted thaty IF the Dees were to look at a new coach then they ought to be aseembling a panel NOW as its an arduous and time consuming process that ought tohappen over a LONGER period of time . I read into that that maybe it was , not so much rushed last time as much as they ought to take more effort THIS time....and look harder !! You sort of got the notion that maybe we didnt get the right man and lets not do that again. He is impressed with Hardwick for sure...and probably wonders where it all went pear shaped for us. I also got the idea there was a certain amount of "my bad " re Bailey there.and doesnt want to do that again. But definitely the message was...get a selection panel together now..and start looking...all between the lines of course

Ive mentioned this in the other thread ..and willtoo here ..as Im just interested to know whether Imflying a flag on my own here or if others can see this. My first gut reaction, like many , is to drop the guy. But then I thought...what would I be trying to accomplish by doing so. ans..to punish him. To make him understand that his efforts and attitude just isnt acceptablle. But then I got to thinking ..is this just giving him an easy way out. A weekend holiday in the magoos ? Often at training seesions whterh sport or otherwise, and especially the military ..if you stuff up your punishment is EXTRA duties..not halving it. I am stil lof the thinnking that maybe the lesson is to up the ante and have him reverse not only his attitude but his role. Double up. Make him hunt..and negate someone. Make him run harder, worrk harder. Do the dirtier work, not the glamour kicking !! Others have already either laughed or berated me for such a suggestion (as is their want ) He needs mental toughness...he in my mind lacks it..He talks a great talk..happy to look over his shoulder at others comments but hey Aaron.. we can all see you out there. !! I think his pennance ought to be out there , before his peers, before teh club and its supporters, not hidden away. He could make a serious step towards reclainimg respect and self esteem. just my view

His efficiency off foot hovers around 50% and handballs could use some working on. Ironically hes a good mind for anticpating..but alas hes not up to putting it to much use as his physcial atributes arent up to the faster game. Things I will concur: He most certainly let his tem mates down His behavious on Sat must never be accepted I hope Flash comes good Its up to him. Yep..yep..yep yep and yep. But i really dont see any point in telling him to go sit in the naughty corner. He needs to learn accountability. He needs to learn about real effort. Does he get this by languishing in happy valley ? How doeshe learn playing at a level where 90% is fine ? He nneds to be shown the erro of his ways for sure but by application not participating in pedestrian procession. he needs to up his work rate...not reduce it.
