  1. yeah see that i really don't agree with modern footy gets a bad wrap, particularly by the media, but i think a lot of the criticism is overblown
  2. excellent; short extension but better than nothing!
  3. luke jackson extended til end of 2022 :)
  4. that's the thing tho - regular 100-goals-a-year players were an anomaly not the norm prior to hudson coming into the afl in the late 1960s - prior to that it was only coleman in 1950 and 1952 that scored above the mark after ron todd in 1938 before hudson really kicked off the trend of full forwards being big goal kickers in 1968 the 70s, 80s, and 90s were definitely the time when full forwards booted lots of goals - even then, 12 of those 30 odd years had players not kicking over 100 in the home and away season personally, i really don't care about big goalkickers etc. - i just want to see premierships
  5. Also not what Hutchy said
  6. you mean 'two years' til meth coke throw a small fortune at him to replace jjk ?
  7. gets himself caught far, far too often between where the kick is coming from and where it is going to for mine, easily the most frustrating player on our list as he can clearly play the sport but i don't think he's a 'smart' footballer at all, and has no versatility whatsoever - he can play in the middle and the middle only only works hard one way and doesn't impact the play defensively whatsoever
  8. is he a carlton player yet? ? even if he demands a trade at the end of 2021 will go down in the history books as one of the best midfielders the dees have ever had
  9. i'm another that is a bit like @titan_uranus - i don't mind the modern game at all, which is obviously far lower-scoring than previous eras, but i'm not so sure that that's a bad thing per se key rule changes / interpretation adjustments i'd make: get rid of the ruck nomination rule - two go up from one team? free kick paid reduce bench rotations down to 15 per quarter immediately remove the bounce around the ground; throw it up, make play-on faster - i'd keep it for the centre square as i like the randomness and tradition of it after goals etc. make field umpires fully professional at last and remove one per match; three is too random in terms of decision-making and even in their current semi-professional state they are all super fit and more than able to keep up with play i am one of those who thinks that 16 players per side COULD work, but you'd want to 'test' it - i'd be reducing it to 5 per f50 / d50 rather than remove the 'wings' per se the likes of kevin bartlett would fight that big time tho - it's sacrosanct in the game that it's 18 per side on the field
  10. great to see t mac, lever, and weed working together
  11. 2024 is four years away it won't happen overnight but it will happen
  12. good resource here: https://www.draftguru.com.au/picks looks like pick 19 has a stronger history than 18
  13. he is not very good average height, not blindingly quick, pretty soft, and not a particularly good kick it's a pass for mine
  14. 14 teams vs 18 teams players still slide and then mature in the vfl - we have at least three in our 22 (fritsch and hibberd from 2020, and sideshow bob going forward) that had exactly that pathway - but i think the greater number of teams in the competition is why less players get 'missed'
  15. generally speaking there's a top 3-4 sides every year, you can throw a blanket over teams 5-11 or so, 12-14 or 15 are hot and cold but can do damage on their day, and there's generally speaking a bottom 3 that are making up the numbers but that inevitably cause an upset or three along the way i see us in that 5-11 range where yep, absolutely, can make it, or we can stuff it up for ourselves as only we know how early days, but 2021 thoughts on teams based on nothing other than gut 'vibe' 1-4: geelong, richmond, meth coke, footscray 5-11: brisbane, carlton, fremantle, gc17, melbourne, port adelaide, st. kilda 12-15: adelaide, collingwood, essendon, gw$ 16-18: hawthorn, north melbourne, sydney
  16. whatwhat say what replied to Elegt's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
at least you didn't call him a kidney! that would've been a blow too far :P but seriously, the filth have come out of this smelling STINKY
  17. jones is a pear nga tho? don't think north have a selection this season
  18. that was our own social media team that did that https://twitter.com/melbournefc/status/1326747614700728320?s=20
  19. my mfcss says that until such a time that any player signs on the dotted line they're inevitably leaving and only after they sign an extension with us will they break down with a long-term crippling injury we'll all be rooned, said hanrahan...
  20. harmes is the man i reckon prior to becoming a mid tagger midway thru 2018 he was primarily deployed as a forward / wing - i expect him to return to that role after the failed attempt to play him as a half-back distributor
  21. i can't see viney being used forward he's a mid
  22. no, collingwood gave away treloar, stephenson, and phillips for sweet fanny adams today so that they weren't over the cap by $2m in 2021
  23. pick 2 = 2517 points pick 7 and 19 = 2592 points but i agree, i can't understand why north supposedly want to rid themselves of a chance to take a top 3 kpf (juh, thilthorpe, mcdonald) or the #1 rated key back (grainger-barass)
  24. general 'vibe' is that north's pick 2 is up for grabs and that gc17 will likely only want ONE pick as they will bring in two top 15-20 rated players at NO COST due to their frankly outrageous zone allocation of the nt - they currently hold 5, 27, 37, 76, 84 18 and 19 should definitely be flipped - they are the equivalent points value of pick 5, which gc17 are pretty unlikely to give up peptides and the filth both have serious hard-ons for logan mcdonald from all reports; they both want that pick 2 from north our best hope might be to flip 18 and 19 for pick 8 and 44 pick 18 and 19 = 1933 points pick 8 and 44 = 1898 points peppies can then do, say, 7 and 19 for pick 2 and all of a sudden - in this year's top 20 - they have 2, 6, and 18, north have 7, 11, and 19, and we end up with pick 8 the biggest stumbling block might be that north might see more value in flipping 2 for 14 and 16 from the filth
  25. sooo....... B: Hibberd - May - Lever HB: Salem - Tomlinson - Rivers C : Langdon - Petracca - Harmes HF: Melksham - Weideman - Hunt F: Fritsch - B Brown - Pickett Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Jackson - Spargo - Brayshaw - Baker Emerg: Jones - vandenBerg - McDonald - Smith impossible to factor in the picks until we know what we're getting really, particularly when the picks are likely (?) to change
