Been announced that the Draft Combine has been cancelled and instead, combines will proceed in the states when and where permitted by government Covid19 rules.

Their 1st Round Pick which we could use to get Mac Andrew. Means there would be a swapping of picks involved no doubt.
Rather keep Weid.

Rookie
Assuming he nominates as father-son, the only way he’ll be a rookie is if no other club selects Taj in the main draft. He picked up enough of the ball and did well enough with it to suggest that he’s going to be our best f-s since Jack Viney.

Taj Woewodin is number 14 and has looked impressive - a very tidy footballer.

Thanks WJ. Love to reminisce about our Golden Era.
Just pondering about which of our current players plays most like the great Ronald Dale back in the day. It's clearly between Tracc and Clarry IMO, but I lean towards Clarry. What do others think?
Has to be Tracc with the hard body and his Italian origins.

North Melbourne are showing interest in Sam Weideman and I would suggest that a trade would be worthwhile around North’s second pick, currently 20. With matching father/sons and possible free agency compensation picks, that could possibly end up around 24.

AFL Media’s Mitch Cleary is reporting on SEN that St Kilda swingman Josh Battle could be gettable in the upcoming trade period.

The bidding system for father–sons and academies works this way -
* we assume the player is eligible as a father–son (and has accepted nomination to the club) or academy as the case may be.
• Each draft pick is assigned a value (with No. 1 starting at 3000 points, declining exponentially until No. 74 which has no value), which is regressed from historical player salary data.
• During the draft, any club may bid for a father–son eligible player with any draft pick.
• The father's club, if it wishes to select the son, must then use its next one or more draft picks until the total points value of the surrendered picks adds up to the value of the draft pick used by the bidding, less a discount – which is either 20% of the bid value or 197 points (equivalent to pick No. 56), whichever is greater. Any points left over after reaching the bid value result in the draft pick being shuffled down the order.
• The club which originally made the bid then has the next selection in the draft.
The same bidding process also works for the academies with the exception that in the case of clubs other than the New South Wales and Queensland clubs, a bid for draft selection cannot be matched by the club to which the academy player is attached.
This is the draft value index that applies.

What I don’t get is that Tom Morris is a Melbourne man too. Or at least he was a former employee.
He’s a journalist doing his job so don’t expect any favours. However, his analysis simply doesn’t sound right in light of what we’ve seen in recent weeks at AFL level. Hawkins got off with nothing for what he did on Saturday. Dangerfield and Selwood have both been lucky not to be sanctioned in recent weeks either. At worst, this is a one week suspension.

Those forthcoming national Championships are going to be really important now that the extended lockdown has come into force because it’s unlikely that the players from metro clubs will get a further chance to impress. Players like our very own Mac Andrew who looks a borderline top 20 draftee based on where he features in this team will only be seen again if he makes it to the championships.

Watching the Derby and the crowd involvement and I would say that after the first two weeks of the finals, the rest will be played at Optus Stadium. No chance in Victoria.

This gives me the sheets.
We were only doing what half a dozen clubs had done before us without issue from the media or AFL.
If we didn't tank I would have been fuming. What p1zzes me off most is that we were the ones hung out to dry by the hypocrites.
The other clubs before us forgotten about.
During the period, at least four or five other teams had put the cue in the rack and ended up with priority picks but the AFL investigated only Melbourne. The practice had even been given public approval by the AFL CEO. Tony Liberatore virtually fessed up that it had occurred while he was at Carlton but was hauled in to HQ and silenced. Whatever the club was guilty of, others were as well but we were the scapegoat and Chris was the one who took a hit for the club.
I loved his appearance on the Front Bar and it was great to see that he’s kept his sense of humour.

Could we stop speculating about finishing on top and start taking things one game at a time. We have a game to win tomorrow.

Mac Andrew
in Melbourne Demons
Posted · Edited by Freddy Fuschia
Watched the second game and wow, Nick Daicos is a gem. He’s going to be a favourite with the Collingwood fans but will cost them a suitcase load of draft points. The Metro team dominated and had a lot of good players including midfielders, Josh Ward and Josh Goater and ironically. St Kilda NGA Mitch Owens. Their other father-son in the team Sam Darcy was good and you can see why he’s rated so highly. Country’s best was another midfielder Ben Hobbs and half-forward Josh Rachele which brings me to Mac Andrew. He went okay. He has some good attributes and spent only part of the game on the ruck. He’s athletic, has a good leap and plenty of spring to take on ruck duels but he’ll probably start as a key position player and even then would have to work his butt off to get up to speed physically. One day he could be an Aliir Aliir or Mabior Chol - who can say?
