We wouldn't trade for him because we don't need him now but it's a myth he left for money. He wanted to stay at MFC with his mates but we didn't want him. That may or may not have been justified but the decision was ours, he didn't walk out.
Secondly anyone who thinks he's not a really good player is building a rhetoric to lessen the disappointment of him leaving. He is a fantastic player and had he not suffered injury would probably have been AA. He's one of my favourite players to watch outside MFC. Skill, poise and plays the game in the way it should be played.
A very good assessment about the club’s football department’s underestimation of Howe’s ability and his value to the club as a draw card. I think we had issues about our salary cap because I recall something about Collingwood paying him more than the $400k we offered. Whatever, the case he’s definitely repaid them with his service but now, going on 31 years of age and with injuries behind him, he’s going to slow down.

Meanwhile, Essendon has jumped in and signed 18 year old South Australian prospect Kaine Baldwin who is expected to be a gun once he gets over his injury woes.

He has played for Peel Thunder in the WAFL for about 8 games or more!
He played for their Colts team not seniors.

Notice how shifty Richmond are when they list Derek Eggmolesse-Smith without using his full name. :)

Good to see that our footballers, like the tennis players, perform an "essential service" so the game goes ahead.

Baldwin wouldn’t have been a great option as he’s recovering from a second ACL.
That's true but because of the big wraps about his ability as a junior and his character, I thought he would have been a good selection to bring in, not for immediate impact, but to be an understudy to Ben Brown for as long as it took - two years at Casey if necessary. Still, no club has picked him so there's probably something we don't know about him that's keeping clubs from taking the risk.

I didn’t read anywhere about James Jordan moving to the rookie list. Anyone seen this?
It’s reported in the article which WJ linked. The ins and outs etc are as quoted from the article. So potentially we have 5 picks in the draft and will possibly hold one back for later drafts.

Now that KK has retired and is off our books, Jay Lockhart gets uplifted to the Primary List and Aaron Nietschke can be automatically rookied, this is the scenario -
• 34 players on the Primary List (max 38)
• 3 on the Rookie A List (maximum 6)
• 1 on the Rookie B List (max 2)
We have some additional options in the drafts depending on how the picks fall.

Anyone have an update on him?

Where'd you hear that FF?
Radio talk. They sounded convinced it was St Kilda.

The big news of the day on Trade Radio so far is that it looks like the Tigers are going to release Jack Higgins and that Melbourne is one of three clubs after him.
People are saying Higgins will nominate the Saints.

Silly boy - apparently is going to nominate St Kilda.

I've always maintained that if Nev and TMac could have played out just average seasons we would have finished top 6. That' just a win or two more than we got.
My main problem would be to see Nev in the black and white.

Melbourne doesn’t do 8 point games very well but it will have to if it wants to remain a contender.
Simple as that.

Strange that nobody mentioned the fact that the Hawks dropped their #21.

Probably doesn’t make a difference but I reckon that once a player is deemed to be unable to play at all for the remainder of the year, the proper designation should be “season” and not “indefinite”.

If Preussy kicks a couple, gets 11 touches and 13 hit outs (as 2nd ruck) as he did in his first game last year he will be well on his way to earning his spot.

Gee and they wonder why umpires get abused.
Yep - one shocking umpiring decision can turn a game around and if one game’s turned around, it can change a whole season.

All over for Hawthorn and $cully.

The real question is would you take Mitch Hannan back?
