  1. Bob Hawke's reaction always cracks me up!!
  2. Norman was on the steps of Parliament House as Gough Whitlam made his "Well may we say God Save the Queen Speech" it is incredible Footage...Could never happen today!!! The Guy is a complete world class legend!
  3. I have worked with Molly a few times over the Years....He is part of the Furniture..Terrible in front of a camera, But we did get this piece of Genius in 1980 because of Molly's complete incompetence Let us also remember that Molly back in '66 fainted during the last quarter of the Grand Final, thus missing the Saints win the flag! He was a cheer squad member...Hahaha my favourite Molly story!!
  4. To true JJC. We all watch the game from different chairs.
  5. Of course but that is Test Cricket...You back your team to do a job...The cloud cover over the first 2-3 days in Tasmania always meant the Ball was going to move around..That is why i would prefer to get the runs on the board than to chase....
  6. Who said it was easier?? It is a TEST Match, A Test of mental & physical strength. 150 was a good score on that first day...This was proven by Australia's effort on the second day...ok. Do you follow me??? Now Australia is on the back foot, because no matter what our bowlers do...WE still must chase in the Fourth Ininngs...Never easy as the little Head Gremlins mount up...New Zealand leading by 241 is in the Box Seat, regardless of what the Biased Australians Journalist write... Our Batting line up at this time is very flaky...Not truly awful but flaky when put under pressure The Kiwi's never gave up...Considering what Dave Warner did...it was shameful. But it is always harder to Bat in a 4th innings than it is on day one when the mind is fresh. Yes we made more runs in the 4th innings, but the stakes are higher because you know the total needed, and so do the bowlers....Psychology at play. If you disagree with the above...so be it. But that is my view of the 5 day game.
  7. Sure it would have, But it was never going to happen. The ball was moving around too much due to the pitch and cloud cover. 150 was a solid score under those conditions.
  8. I don't think its anti Johnson at all. Mitchell was always selected primarily as a bowler. And it is that part of his game that has fallen away. Yep he can hit a ball but mainly when his confidence is up, and that has been in trouble for a while. Peter Siddle can often hit a ball but like Johnson can go out very cheaply.
  9. Mitchell Johnson would have made probably made a large difference...New Zealand's total would have been bigger...Johnson needs to almost reinvent himself, and in all honesty will be lucky to wear a Baggy Green again...Our Bowlers and tail cannot be blamed in this game.
  10. C A want to make money...They give out such ridiculous Gold Contracts they must be paid for.....so the True Game of Cricket-The 5 Day Test suffers because of it...Sad Fact.
  11. Thanks JJC...i would NEVER offer the initiative to an opposition Captain or Team. That they must earn by Beating me and my Team.
  12. A most sensible Post. A breath of Fresh air round here!
  13. Correct...but i have have had enough of his PM's in the past to know how he likes to operate. You would have bowled first too would you Spongebob??? Interesting. I was going to jump on here last friday...but knew i would cop a barrage...Shame i should have backed my intuitions!
  14. Don't tell me the position i raised....Warner is a freak..and hopefully will have a long career..His footwork is not textbook, but his Power makes up for any of those short comings...Without Warner we were Shite...but we were even more shite because we chased a 4th innings total. Clarke gave the initiative back to the Kiwis by bowling first..If you do not agree i don't really care. You are not always right Rhino, but always most anti social. Moderator indeed, whoever bestowed that upon you....
  15. Yes Warner Batted Beautifully...nobody else did. That is my issue..This current Batting line up was not going to chase down a 4th innings. Take Warner out of it and we were pathetic. Hughes should have been out last night for 0 (again) but for some bizare reason the Kiwi's did not refer it. Psychology did play a huge part in today..particularly when Ponting was out. Kiwi's smelt it...Good Luck to them. It should have been the other way round...Mr Bingle won the toss. i would have backed our bowlers to do the job today...not the Batsmen. That said it was a fantastic game...Pity there is only 20/20 games on before Boxing day....This ludicrous fixture has left no room for our batsmen to practice, but $$$ do the talking now sadly.

RVP what a legend. Gunners back from the dead.
  17. That is supposed to change my mind is it??The ball was still moving around today so i wouldn't want to chase on it with that batting line up. I have no problem with Warners technique of Brute Force, it is unique but it aint for every player. Thank Christ he was there today. Say what you like but NZ were in the box seat after the toss if you looked closely at the long rrange weather predictions.
  18. That's your answer is it??? Not the fact the Kiwi's were actually leading on the first innings..... Fair enough.
  19. 45 they put the score on the board. 150 on day 1 was a good score because we only managed 136 when it was our turn. Puts the kiwis ahead in my book. Without Warners superb knock we were thrashed. Even Steve Waugh and Mark Taylors sides struggled to chase a 4th innings target many times.
  20. We disagree again Moderator...You discount psychology...Batting a fourth innings is never the best time to Bat. Ross Taylor said it after day 1...."We made 150, we are still in this Game" He was right.
  21. It is not a contradiction at all, it is about a pitch that was never going to dry out and Batting on it in a 4th innings was always going to be the dangerous part, particularly with a Batting line up that was too old or sadly out of form....Dave Warner the exception.Clarke should have backed himself and his Batsmen to get a score on Day 1 minus Daniel Vettori...the 5 day weather forecast told him that. Our Bowlers did an exceptional job but that Batting line up was to dodgy for a fourth innings chase.
  22. It is actually very dangerous to choose to bat in a 4th innings when it was obvious the match would never last 5 days. A dodgy opener and Ponting and Hussey both past it. Now lets hope some serious selection changes are finally made. We got rolled by a New Zealand side minus Vettori. 150 was a good score on day 1 on that Billiard table. It still had life in it today. Win the Toss.....Bat particularly with an inexperienced and aged line up. Good onya Kiwi's enjoy your winnings.
  23. Khawaja should open with Warner on Boxing Day. Yes he has not made a stack of runs and his technique is still dodgy, but he values his wicket. His technique will improve with that attitude. Warner has little technique, he has brute strength and power. If he can stay in long enough to get his eye in, look out. Without Warner today we would have been bowled out very cheaply. It's dangerous to bat in the fourth innings.
  24. Clutterbuck will be a commentators nightmare!! Heat of the battle quick play you wait. As long as he goes to a club i will smile...
  25. Hughes is so Lucky he has a NSW Passport. How many times is a man allowed to go out playing the same shot? If Hughes was a Victorian he would have already completed an apprenticeship and started a new career, post Cricket!
