Opinions on Matthew Lloyd's shirt front.
-
Bartram - a solid game
Bennell - had little impact
Cheney - good second efforts
Davey - not as influential
Dunn - exciting when confident
Frawley - was good early
Jamar - held his own
Jetta - was easily outmanouvred
Jones - confident and strong
Jurrah - thrilling in bursts
McDonald - tough and uncompromising
McLean - where was he ?
Miller - couldn't find ball
Moloney - gave his all
Morton - great rebounding game
Rivers - was rarely beaten
Robertson - no final glory
Sylvia - great first half
Wheatley - goal for posterity
Whelan - aggression wasn't enough
McKenzie - some encouraging touches
Spencer - was not disgraced
Yeah good effort this week mate look forward to reading it again next year.

I agree, we will, 2012.
Well if you judge it by the conglomerate of players I sat amongst at the phone dome on Saturday we have no hope at all. Talk about a medical ward
-
Bate - game to forget
Cheney - steady but unobtrusive
Davey - couldn't break shackles
Frawley - tried but failed
Jamar - continued stellar renaissance
Jetta - excellent first half
Johnson - had little influence
Jurrah - restricted by injury
Martin - little to enthuse
McDonald - steady and reliable
McLean - needn't have played
McNamara - lots to learn
Moloney - persistant but beaten
Morton - beaten by midget
Petterd - insignificant until injured
Rivers - ready to holiday
Robertson - going with class
Sylvia - our best player
Whelan - loose until injured
McKenzie - will get better
Spencer - tall , little else
Valenti - short , little else
You obviously were at a different game mate. Really hard on Bate and others. Open your eyes.

I wouldn't think so
No this event is not a reserved seat match, but if you wish to sit on level 1 I suggest you pre reserve your ticket.

If true, it's a shame that after we've invested years and years in him and he is finally showing us something, that he decides he wants to go home. But I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
If he wants to go, we'll find a suitable trade and he can go.
It's a privilege to play for the MFC, not a right. If you don't want to be here, you shouldn't be.
I agree well said

Following his retirement Essendon coach Matthew Knights anointed Scott Lucas as not only a great of the Essendon Football Club. Personally I hate Essendon and found Lucas to be possibly the most overrated and annoying players ever to don a jumper.
I hate Essendon!
Please discuss their arrogance
So who are the all time greats?
Lockett
Dunstall
Carey
Ablett
Lucas
Somehow I dont think so sorry.

Luckily for us DB is far smarter than pea-brain D'landers.

Time for some home truths about some real battlers.
Russell Robertson - is well and truly finished. There was talk on the commentary if he should get another contract next year. I can only assume they were kidding. Spends more time lying on the ground with fake injuries than running around getting a kick.
Cameron Bruce - a laughable effort today in his 200th. Classic dinky hand passes putting team mates under pressure, constant fumbles, running from contests. It was all there on display today. Who was the genius that gave him a 3 year deal? Untradeble as no other team will touch him.
Brock McLean - his career is going backwards at a rapid rate. Can not handle a tag. Time for the coaching staff to give him an ultimatum. Shape up or ship out. Completely out of the running for next skipper, thats for sure.
James McDonald - has given plenty to the MFC over the years, and has put his body on the line time and time again. But the game has passed him well and truly. I suspect he knows this, and will hang up the boots at years end.
who are you to tell people what they can and cant do. I do believe you are just returning to this site from a long exile by virtue of the moderators for this very reason.

Hi all,
I wonder what fellow posters think of the fact that we are so close to going over that magic 4 game barrier this season. So I ask you what would be the repercussions for the club in terms of membership and support if we relinquish these picks?
Would you throw in your membership
Not support the debt demolition
Surly if we are to loose these priority picks through the shier idiocy of pining for 2 goal losses then there will be major drums beating at the club. Personally I agree with that curly haired, mono browed champion of ours Garry Lyon when he suggests 4 games should be the limit.

I predict that vs Freo at the G in Round 19 he will explode for 12 goals.
settle down mate

It was great to see Robbo back in form last weekend. He went along way to winning us the game... again.
I am sick of negative threads on Robbo. I am sick of people saying he should be delisted. Robbo haters remember this:
1. Robbo is coming off a very serious injury that kept him out of the game for 12 months.
2. Robbo has had no pre-season (at all)
3. Robbo gets terrible supply week in, week out
4. Robbo takes the number one backman most week despite not being a true KPP. In a strong team he would play in the pocket or off the flank, would have the 3rd or 4th defender and not rotate through FF and CHF.
5. Robbo chose to stay with Melbourne at the end of 2007 knowing that he would probably never play finals football again and would be nothing more than a mentor in a rebuilding team. He decided to stay despite a longer and more lucrative offer from the Western Bulldogs who's premiership window is open.
6. Robbo has been an outstanding, excitement machine who has given us all many, many memorable moments and won many games for us off his own boot. We would not have won without him on Saturday. Yes he is a show pony at times, but I for one love it. I love what he brings to the game and I love what he has done for the club. He is probably the only proven match winner on our list at the moment.
Robbo needs to be re-signed to another 2 year contract!
Come to think of it he will be definitely re-signed (for at least a year probably two).
Thank god some of you guys don’t work in our recruiting department as you truly have no idea.
David Neitz did all that for years without the histrionics and gymnastics that Russell displays. Great player for the club and mentor for younger players he might be, but iI am afraid much like Lloyd the injury might just end his career.

He's something radical. Why don't we play on at all costs and kick the ball long into our forward line as quick as possible to a one on one or two on two contest.
Let's run hard, move the ball quickly and not give the opposition time to set up their zone behind the ball. If nothing else it will reduce the number of potential turnovers (as we will have less possesions) and increase the number of times we get the ball into our forward 50 therefore increasing our chances of scoring.
Radical I know - what do you think?
Because if we do that we have no forwards who can win the one on one contest. The idea is to isolate players on the lead or bring the ball in quickly and directly.
-
Any room for him in a back pocket, i.e. Whelan's role? I had Cheney earmarked for that spot, but I wonder if Petterd could make that one his own. He attacks the ball and the man very aggressively and has the running capacity as well, I actually think he'd be the perfect Whelan replacement.
I agree totally Nasher well said Whelan is on the way out and Cheney has ot yet done enough to cement a spot in the back half.
-
I'm not convinced. Is there room for him on the HB-line? We seem to have a few guys putting their hands up to play there, like Grimes, Bennell, Strauss, etc.
Could Petterd make it as a tagger?
What would people take at the trade table?
Who is Strauss I havnt yet seen him on the half back line?
-
Forget the senior guys, they're going to be retiring soon anyway. These are the players that we need to make a decision on whether to keep them for the long term or not:
Bartram
Martin
Bell
Bate
P.Johnson
Jamar
Miller
Petterd
Dunn
Newton
Wheatley
Buckley
Valenti
Zomer
Hughes
Meesen
I'm sure I've missed a couple
Yeah and you should omit Martin from that list mate he has the most potential of any player on our list including Watts. Athletically and intellectually he is superior to quite a few senior players on the list.

I hate the way Davey is playing/used. Teams have worked out our "structure".....
What structure?

INeteresting what is says about butcher... Might be a big slider..
But it is to far away still to worry about any of this!!
Sylvia is starting to show that dominance now, mclean was in 06 and has been hampered by injury. A little sick of everyone having a crack at these two.
Thankyou Peter I provided a post pointing out why Mclean is struggling but was shot down. Last time I ever post using my link to the club on here.
-
because the title suggests the post regards a matter which is directly related to the performance of our football team, which is the reason we all read/post
you cant title it like that, make some rubbish post and then ask why did you read it.
It was a concept I raised some time ago with a similar titled post. I was sure I began speaking about Brock Mclean and his injury to begin with another poster highjacked it with his personal thoughts about me in general.
Sorry to have bothered you I will just send personal messages from now on as advised by the site moderator to avoid altercation.

You really are a
And I'm assuming that what you're saying is true. Well done big guy.
well you have to be to fit in with others on this site dont you. If I am what you say I am then why read the post? Thanks for your comments.

Hi,
According to some I have an overbearing, overly fastidious and self effacing manner when making posts about Mr Mclean. Therefore I will tether this post short to guard against the fear of chiding other posters in retrospect of previous posts. I would like to just say, not unceremoniously of course to the readers on this very esteemed site that Brock is out for two weeks with a hip flexor injury. I further would like to note there will be an article in the Big Paper tomorrow for interested posters perusal.

Anyone care to comment on the belligerence and favoritism of the umpires/gymnast/prima donnas last evening. I have never in my life witnessed such a theatrically based show of incompetence from a fraternity who are paid copious amounts of money to do a job which they overcomplicate. Surely adjudication involves simplicity and control with calculated and calm actions and low levels of theatrics. Instead we got in-judicial decisions which lacked deliberation, and calculation coupled with self effacing gestures of contempt toward players both in the manner in which they conversed and related to them. This elongates the divide further between player and umpire. For the second time in an 8 week period I witnessed Mclaren visibly make contact with a player, without malice of course but an action which vindicates further investigation.
Please if you are going to umpire dont insight the crowd of both clubs with your idiocy and lack of knowledge and feel for the game. Make the decisions, stay out of the way and most of all get off the field quickly at the games end so the supporters dont have to look at you any more than necessary.
Thats all.

Is that the same kind of respect he showed for the rules of the game mate? WHy should we show him respect Essendon dont respect our football club at all nor do their supporters respect our supporters! Please let us know why Essendon should run the game
