Danny Hughes was a massive melbourne supportet, i remember talking to him about it a few weeks ago. He also mentioned he still has a photo with him and jim stynes from when he was just a kid up around the house!

Hughes has a slight abductor strain. Still might come in i think..
Did anyone see almost footy legends??? what a grab!!! The second time he has been on it!
-
Good to see nothing has changed
Bruce was our second best player last weekend. So yes, a good idea to drop him.
Yeah it was bruce's best game for the year! And he played well.
Prob Petterd out for Hughes.
Jmac might come in for Bennel.
I dont think we will see wholesale changes this week

Some of Hughes' second efforts and pressure were outstanding on Saturday, from close up at the game as I was I didnt realise how hard he worked. However I dont know if he'll have the size and engine to be able to make that step up to senior AFL level, to me he's a forward version of Valenti, clearly loads of talent and application, but lacking size and speed to be able to make it...
How good was his bump then the hands off!! Looked great!

NO not yet... will only be promoted if given a game, 2 rookie spots available too.
-
Just with people saying no-one stood up i thought the forwards in newton and hughes played well. It was a scrappy congested game and at times skills and decision making of midfielders let the forwards down. A few times good leads were not rewarded and also kicks were often not to advantage.
Newton and hughes should be a chance.
Watts doesn't really warrant a game. UNfair to play a guy just because he will be a very good player.

Thats what i get for listening to some bloke in a casey jacket.. was probably some nuffy suppporter feeding me rubbish haha
-
And silvani.... What the hell was going on there!!!!
usually so good but that last quarter was deplorable!!
-
Said he was resting pretty much. Going up for experience. also saying that he was a little sore. But didn't leave out that he could come back in as the flu is rampant at melbourne as hughes and wheatley had it pretty bad today
-
Spoke to casey/melb official at game today
-
Watts out Jones in Thats a fact
Confirmed

Just got back from willy...
Was lucky there was not much wind because the skill level was pretty average. Always seemed rushed and under pressure..
From the dees players i thought Dunn was very good. Im not a huge fan but he was clearly the pick of the demons. Very big and strong and has good skills.
Valenti had an average game. Small and not rally quick enough. Works bloody hard though.
Mckenzie runs around like a headless chook. Never seems to man up.
Batram i thought did pretty well, played on johnson (the ex hawk) Good speed and skills were actually not to bad.
Zomer first game in the 1's for a while and took a while to adjust i thought. A few good things a few strange things.
Newton so-so game. Good 2 cheapie goals but did work hard. Kicked a good goal.
Hughes i thought he was very good. Very quick and was unlucky the last one bounced of line. Is a team player. few good pick ups and hands off.
Wheatley i thought he struggled a bit. Didn't get to use his weapon!
Bell fought hard but crucial skill errors killed him.
Strauss nice goal but looks a bit of a school boy at the moment, just gets lost but looks good when he gets the ball in space
Maric looks classy in traffic, disappointing shot at goal. Expected more but his shoulder was worrying him.
Also talking to a casey official said that a few of the boys had the flue, wheatley and hughes barely trained all week.

INeteresting what is says about butcher... Might be a big slider..
But it is to far away still to worry about any of this!!
Sylvia is starting to show that dominance now, mclean was in 06 and has been hampered by injury. A little sick of everyone having a crack at these two.
-
Would love to smash them by 100 points!!!!!
-
Theres no reason why Watts shouldnt play off the bench again. Experiencing an interstate game will be good learning curve, he improved last game, hes on school holidays and hasnt really had "bruising" games so far so shouldnt be feeling worn out.
Out: Whelan, Batram, Robbo, Morton, Jetta
In: Newton, Jones, Warnock, Maric, Petterd
(also if Jamars fit he should replace Johnson)
I would keep batram in especially if mcdonald is not fit...
Not sure petterd has done a lot to earn a recall, it is hard to work out considering that casey had a bye...
I personally would be happy if newton doesn't play again, watching how incredibly selfish he played against the bullants!!
-
Watts should play just one more game atleast, the travel experience would be good.
Lots of people calling for jetta to be dropped, personally im not the biggest fan although he should be given more opportunitys.
In:Warnock Valenti Mckenzie
Out:Whelan Mclean (if injured) Morton.(If he dominates at VFL level and starts taking teh game on it might give him confidence, it is possible that confidence is whats holding him back)
Now i no its very unlikely for these changes to happen, and morton most likey wont get dropped and is obviously understandable.
P.S i really want to see one of Hughes or Mckenzie get there chance sooner.
i to want to see mckenzie and hughes play...
I think they have to play hughes as he cant be rookied again so they have to see if he can play... WHen they decide to rest watts he may come in...
Being school holidays now not sure whether they will have to rest him, but maybe 2 weeks in and a week out for the rest of the year!
-
I think his form isnt so much of an issue. His second year and has played some very good games. Hasn't suffered any second year blues. Has a lot of class and is very clever..
But the big issue is his courage, to many times he shirks contests and loathes physical contact... Has to work on that.
-
Because he beat stanton on the weekend...
BEcause its a number, doesnt make a difference what number anyone wears really..
-
Heading to alumbra for a few pre match drinks... its 2 for 1 and a $10 barbie!!!
With regards to carparking does anyone know how much? ill be leaaving straight from work and will get there between 4.30 and 5... will it be open? i dont want to get there before the early bird prices and get slugged 40 bucks! times are tough!!!
-
I'm nearly certain jurrah is going to play from what i heard. i also heard that bennel will be back into the side this week.
-
ha ha i did see that car out at casey and was wondering who the die hard supporter was!!!
-
Also take into consideration we can elevate a rookie...
Even though the game is 2 weeks away we might know some of the changes earlier with casey having a sunday game. I would imagine they wouldnt want players playing sunday then friday night
-
Gee he was good today. And for the first time I can think of, he was good on a day when everyone else in his side was terrible. Good signs...
Hawthorn a couple of weeks ago?
Injury List - Round 15
in Melbourne Demons

It would be good to see him run around, after so many set backs and so long on the rookie list he does deserve a go...
At 22 it is a mature age to debut, but there was that richmond guy that was 24 the other week that played his first game..
