  1. Thanks Wolfmother, that clears that up, so its about a pub just having be revalued.. well that's not really mismanagement, that can be just put down to change in property market then. Ah well.
  2. What about on Sunday, he coached pretty good with the youngest list on record. What Daniher did was get the best out of what he had at his disposal. And when he left, he knew he was leaving with its list in tatters, with ageing stars and a injury depleted list. Nearly 3/4 of the list didnt have a full pre-season, thats what he inherited. He started the cleanout last year, on top of retirees. He now has the job at hand of turning the list again in another 14 weeks time. We have witnessed improvement in Brad Miller, Brad Green, and the like as well as youngsters in Warnock, Garland, Wonaemirri, even Sylvia. This is something Daniher couldn't do. With Daniher, we saw Brad Miller presenting and marking at CHF and then handballing and most times with a lack of vision turning it over much to all our frustration.. I see a definite improvement in his smarts this year, like playing on, taking the ark and kicking himself
  3. I reckon McLean will be out for the rest of the year. Hehehe. I also think Bails will probably make way for just two changes. Whilst its still too early to tell with the weekend's break: - I will say: - OUT: McLean (inj), Bode IN: Morton, McDonald I also don't want to see Bruce on B.Johnson again, give it to someone young like a Dunn perhaps.
  4. Emotional rant? More like a well structured response to yours. When did Bailey actually state that we were a skillful team?
  5. Is it all a done deal? Is the decision for Brock to have his operation now so that he can get a full pre-season under his belt another sign, clubs who can't make the finals, start competing for draft pick positioning by taking away the best players of their respective clubs? Touchy subject I know. Really - I think we all know what is happening, its just that no-one wants to admit to it. Also - how can the AFL put a stop to it all, is it the balls in the draw (a la NBA style) or simply (more complicated) by having a relegation type set up like the EPL, so all sides are hell bent on winning!
  6. Here, Here. Gods speed on fixing the list up Bails, to suit the game plan -the type of plan that can win premierships.
  7. Through merchandise, pokies venues, other assets, land, hotel ownership etc. For example, and this is just an example. Collingwood stand to make a huge loss this season. Up to $2million. Now because they have posted a string of consecutive profits, it won't really put them in trouble, because they can cope. Their loss is because of -in some part - due to mismanagement. Now, who would of though that a club with over 40,000 members would post a result like that for this financial year. I'm not totally disregarding sponsorshiip and membership revenue at all, for they are the lifeblood, like I said. i am simply emphasising the importance of good management, and good management in all departments. Which I imagine would be very difficult to do, as the football side of it is an integral part of it. So performances on the field are somewhat critical. Results like Sunday's result is like an injection of new blood.
  8. All the best to Polak. God's speed in recovery champ. Wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Its very sad news. Hope the Richmond football Club get right behind him, I'm sure they will. Kryton, according to Jordan McMahon and Clive Hughes who waited, they allegedly assumed Polak thought he was going to make it across the track before the Tram came through. He is quite lucky he didn't go under the Tram. The knocks he received in the Carlton clash may have contributed to his awareness.
  9. That would be great if we even cracked 29,500. The target was 30,000. Its a great effort and great sign for things to come. Question: - Is our MFC tally numbers based on fully ticketed members only ? ie ($165 +). Because checking other clubs websites they have 2 tallies, Fully ticketed and Total members.? My guess would be yes but could someone tell me otherwise? Cheers.
  10. Of course its extra revenue. And yes it would add extra attractiveness to sponsors. I don't doubt that for one second. My point is IMO, a club can have 32,000 members ie Richmond, and a club could have 43,000 ie Essendon, yet if both have good management and budget for whatever, they can both return a profit of up to $1million, regardless of sponsors and membership members.
  11. With respect to the Richmond game. It was a 15-20minute period where Richmond played unbelievable footy in the second quarter which went along way to winning the game. Our boys came back and showed grit, the same grit that was displayed against Collingwood. It was three or four bad pieces of inefficient disposal and not hard enough play by Cale Morton that cost mfc dearly
  12. I think he maybe a more astute coach than Daniher, but its too early to tell, he hasn't had the same quality players at his disposal at what Daniher had. Promoting the club, well Daniher only really done it for the length of one pre season in 2004. And then the Reverend tag stuck all of the sudden. He didnt really do much after that. Bailey doesn't really have to do that. It will be Connolly and Stynes doing that. As for Bailey's game plan, whilst he coached very well on Sunday according to some experienced observers against Matthews who will go down as one of the best. He needs players to carry out his game plan, which will still take time. But he's on the right track, much like Alastair Clarkson when he started a few years ago. As Bailey has told his recruitment department, "Give me kids, kids and more kids." Because he needs to mould them into his game plan.
  13. But has Bell got the nous and the peripheral vision for the midfield? I don't think he has. But I hope he proves me wrong... Sorry to hear about McLean. Good decision made by Melbournefc. Enjoy a big break from Footy Brock. Better to reload for next season the Dees. Valenti will get more of an opportunity. So too CJ. Might see Maric get a game soon?
  14. I cast some doubt over the Nth Melb tally -whilst probably genuine, it does not reflect a true 100% Nth Melb figure. I know many opposition supporters who bought a Nth Melb membership. What is correct is they will have a big issue in membership retention. It may fall back to less than 29,000 next year. That is unless Brayshaw uses his nous and pleas like earlier this year (including pleas on the Footy Show too), so they keep above 30,000. The bottom line is, it doesn't really matter whether a club has 32,000 members or 43,000 members. Its about good management of a club in order to churn out profits as well as being competitive on- field.
  15. He is an inspiring person leading the club, and is off to a great start. What he needs is people. People of Goodwill. Kevin Sheedy often talked about what makes a great and prosperous club. He often said how important just people helping out from all areas of the club, bring together and lay the foundations for a great club. What Jim has done has brought together to the board areas of expertise that will provide the building blocks and the pillars of strength for the club. Much like the 'queen bees'. But now these 'queen bees' need lots and lots of working bees, and bees that support the 'hive' to help provide more structure and strength, so the club will not only thrive but survive. It's not anyone particular aspect of the club but everyone including the football department needs to advance and take some steps towards a more positive outcome and maintain that. Onya Jimmy!

    Valenti

Needs more games and game time, has the physique and smarts to cope at this level. Will be very handy type for Bailey.
  17. Its 2:30pm. Give us a detailed report of your findings....
  18. Prismall is not the be all and end all. He is as much value as Brent Moloney.
  19. I think this will be the final 3 positions at the end of the year: - 14th Port Adelaide 15th Fremantle 16th West Coast Forget about Natanui, Jack Watts, Rich, etc..... They want to keep winning now.
  20. That's a profit then. 29,000 members nearly signed. Go Dees!
  21. He has to back it up now.
  22. Seems like you have it all sorted out. Except for one thing. Who's to say our side won't go on and win 5 out of the next 8 games? Fremantle will keep playing Warnock, so his value increases. It could well be a second round draft pick.

    Paul Wheatley

Good opinion. And fair enough. If Wheatley were in Geelong though, I'd suspect he would rank highly in their team. What he does do is minimise the effect his direct opponent has on the game, which often goes unnoticed. Whilst still 'contesting' for loose balls as well as hard balls by backing himself and leaving his opponent, enabling melbourne to set up forward thrusts by breaking lines.
  24. The list is developing..... Frawley, McNamara down back with Petterd for Sandy. Good to see. Newton very handy the soreness is starting to go. Could be back in Seniors in a couple of weeks.
  25. McLean, Green & Miller. Awesome. A great day for the club. Wonaemirri - what a beauty!
