Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I can't see the downside as picks are speculative at best and here is a giant of a kid who can kick goals and was pick 2 a couple of years ago and we can have him for 35. If he fails so what. We turn over a few every year anyway. If he makes it, it could be the steal of the season.

Got a feeling I might be politely dismissed. I might be completely wrong, but I just get the feeling that this kid will still be a good AFL player and that he is there for the taking. The Lever pick of 35 we got, would apparently get it done.

I still think if we can do the Watts deal early this week and know what picks we have, there is another out there. Balic is a formality.

Then again we could have drafted Harry Toumpas or Johnny Cook, relatives of two former great picks.

It was a real toss up for us between Gus and Lever. Club has followed Lever closely since and the JT to Tigers attempt, was purely to get Lever. As we all know the Tiger's Doctor stopped that. We have got our man. The FD are very, very happy.

We are being rebuilt very well, in order to be a flag contender and adding Lever today was another vital cog. It continues.

Not always.

I agree we paid overs, but we have a very good footballer added to our side and as I said above, we can now move on and do other deals. Even the Bombers seem to have paid overs for Smith, but they also can now move on to other deals.

Its not about being Melbourne or weak. It's about getting the deal done and being able to move onto other deals, rather than getting bogged down and missing out on those deals.

Gotta love the managers. Connors upset that we want to get a good deal for a contracted player, because we are willing to trade him. I would have thought at least we are showing some respect for Jack, in seeking suitable compensation, rather than clearing him for pick 90.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
No but it might to their sponsors, influential financial members and Board. At the start we were the bad boys for taking the young future star, but it has turned and the media is now lambasting the Crows for their petulance and arrogance and that hurts the brand. We have made the offer, we now say we might be able to help you get Francis or another player, for part of the same deal, otherwise the offer remains and won't be increased. The Crows refusal of that offer, given the last few days Crows' behaviour and his non appearance in the top 10 of the B& F will make Lever's price drop and make the Crows look like a non destination club to other players and managers.

I think Adelaide are now sh-tting on their brand.
