The blowtorch is on the midfield this week.

I don't know what they need to do, whether it's rotate Salo/Rivers or even Woey through there for a different look or just put a firecracker under the old firm's backside but we are quite far off it in that area. 36 inside 50s is appalling.

Sparrow and Rivers - time for them to step up

Salem stays D50 and is the 'go to' kick to clear the zone and set up a forward entry

The problem is if our main liners don’t have a good game it rare to see the next players down step up, although I don’t know that is unique to us. But when’s the last time Sparrow ANB, rivers, Salem and the like stepped up when players like Trac and Oliver or May are Struggling. They play there role and might have a good game when when everyone else is but I dont recall when they have had a statement game when the chips were down

ANB was BOG a couple of rounds ago and is never our worst

I agree about Rivers and Sparrow - pop them in the middle and see what happens? Can Trac and Oliver become very dangerous forwards? Both have very high footy IQ and can run good lines

Salem will take a few weeks to find his poise again, as he looks completely underdone

    Don't start me on Petty

Nope. I think we did the right thing with those two.

JJ and Grundy, probably better off still having them.

    I wonder about Tomlinson too.

I can see him leaving and doing well elsewhere.

Gee I miss you and your hard work off half back Gus.

Starting to twitch at the thought of the KB game.

    i don't

    De-list or trade for a 12th rounder

It's absolutely laughable that some people think we have depth. We have maybe 18 decent players and the rest are very, very ordinary.

The failure of Goodwin and Lamb to turn over our many C graders and try to find some diamonds in the rough over the past three years is a massive dereliction of duty.

Agree - who thinks we have depth?

    Certainly, not many on here

When Brown and Billings are still getting a game, you know the cupboard is quite bare

They are banged up and missing key players (Allan, McGovern, Waterman, Yeo, potentially Darling) pass mark is 6 goals. i would hope that as a response and confidence boosting performance we aim for 10+ goals.

Doesn't matter - their willingness to compete will be elevated

Interesting that a lot of the players who had big games last week were flat.

Kozzie, Langdon, Lever, Fritta, Petty and Oliver in particular.

    The early turnaround kills us

    Night games sap real energy

    I hate them

  7. Did anyone watch OTC last night?

Their 'premiership' quadrant (with all their data pumped into it) only had two teams in it - Geelong and Swans

They pointed out, that in the last 3 years, the premiers came from that premiership quadrant, after Round 8 (cue spooky music here)

We were just outside the mix

Surprisingly, Carlton were very low indeed - not even close

Houdini escaped more times than Charlie Cameron and Patrick Cripps have at the tribunal.  And he died of a ruptured appendix which was not all that uncommon in the 1920s.

    After a punch….

I almost had a punch up at a AFL game, twice, first time was the last game at Princes Park when we beat the hapless Carlton, the second time was at a Collingwood GWS game, when I went there to support the GWS against Collingwood in the 2019 preliminary final, was saying Collie wobbles the whole game

Me too - once at Victoria Park, Peter Moore's last game for the Pies, before he was coming to us the following year.

I cheered every possession, they booed every possession....ahhh, great day!

Didn’t worry  us last year with Clarry out.

Why didn’t the Coaches change the mids positioning and also personnel ie Rivers  say in 2nd quarter. Even say changing Harry with Tmac to get him into the game.

Hood too often makes changes to positions etc after the result is almost or a foregone conclusion. Needs to act in the 2nd quarter not 4th.

2023 was a hard year to watch re: Clayton out

I was hoping this year would be different, with our pressure on the ball carrier being through the roof

Lions smacked and cannoned into us all night

Goody won’t make changes - he sticks to structure
