  1. Has "Melbourne Heart" got anything to do with the new facilities at "BubbleDome" ?

Can't remember off the top of my head and I don't have the plans on me at the moment.

I don't think so specifically, but there are some non-specified or vague areas on there.

Its actually quite a large facility and I remember there is space set aside for a Union team and i think also for hockey.

With MFC's admin there we are certainly the major tenant.

We take up about a quarter of the space there. It will mostly be on the side facing Swan St

No room for Melbourne Heart, a rugby union team or a hockey team at MRS. That's not to say those teams won't play matches there, but in terms of additional team bases, she's too tight. There'll be some interesting negotiations over the next 2 years methinks.

  2. If that is true then it is an utter joke. That really is Contracts 101. No doubt the Casey lads around here will find a way to blame this on the MFC anyway.

I'm not sure why you would leap to the conclusion that Casey people would blame MFC for the contract not being signed (if that's the case). I think that would clearly be a Casey responsibility.

  3. The irony of trade week at Cartel park.

If Fev gets sacked we have trained McLean up as their new forward pocket key marking target - and to think that Brock was unhappy about playing down there ;)

Or Fev is not sacked...Judda$ cracks it and decides to become a Demon after all. More irony as MFC place him on a good behaviour contract - no amateur martial arts Chris - even if you do bring Ms. Twigley along with you.

What will Juddy do to earn extra income - become a Volvo ambassador instead of an environment ambassador?

  4. I doubt keeping up with the machinations of VFL coaching moves is the highest priority of too many posters.

    Except:

1/ where the actions of MFC might impact on the VFL coach of the aligned team, such as not supplying sufficient players for finals (which may well not worry Demonland posters)

2/ where the results of 1/ might result in a consequential impact on the future development of MFC players (which should worry the heck out of Demonland posters).

    Join the dots!!

  5. Surely that wasn't the case...

I heard the crowd singing the song in unison prior to the first time the PA system played it. It seemed to start from the cheer squad end of the ground of the ground as far as I could tell.

Great atmosphere at the end of the game. Winners all round.

  6. Both the Bubbledome and Casey sound very good to me. I would visit from Canberra for either venue.

You don't need to wait for the family day - we'll give you a private tour of Casey Fields any time you like. :)

  7. I have heard a rumour that Melbourne players won't be allowed to play in Casey finals in case they get injured. Not a good start for an alignment.

That would most certainly not be a good start for the alignment. there would be some very palpable anger down at Casey Fields if MFC decided that its players couldn't be risked in a VFL final. Apart form getting some good intense matches into the younger players (albeit not AFL matches), surely the players would prefer to play footy finals (particularly as the AFL team finished last) rather than be prima donnas and saying they can't play because the pre-season is just around the corner.

The pre-season just around the corner at CASEY FIELDS. You know - the ground of the Casey Scorpions.

The rumour had better be wrong or there'll be many miffed people at the Scorps.

  8. This is why we should have our own reserve side. I am not pleased that St.kilda supporters are close by.

Demons & Saints are diametrically opposed.

    Fix it Vlad.!!!!!

    If MFC hadn’t:

    • aligned with the Casey Scorpions

    • established a campus at Casey as part of a push to shore up a geographic support base in the area

then you wouldn’t have me interested in MFC.

I would have thought my interest as a Casey resident, and also now as an MFC member because of it (albeit as my 2nd team) would be exactly what MFC was hoping to achieve in the first year of a long term foray into the Casey area.

  9. Unlike most people i do not have a 2nd Favourite team.

I hate all 15 of our oponents (some a little more than others) but still HATE none the less.

    Go Sainters....my No 1 team.

Melbourne has zoomed up the list and is now very firmly my 2nd team because of the Casey connection.

I was riding home the Jordan McMahon kick for a goal as much as any Demon supporter I can tell you.

And in Round 22 we seek a very common outcome.....Go Saints.

  10. Thanks Casey Scorp.

Will the new development contain additional seating for the public? There seems to be very little seating at the ground ATM considering the aspirations some people have for this ground.

No additional seats in this development. This development is primarily about facilities for MFC and the Casey Scorpions, but there are additional benefits in more covered standing area for spectators on the pavilion side of the ground and improved change rooms and coaching facilities for visiting clubs.

Additional seating will be a matter revolving around future funding opportunities and match allocation (NAB Cup, VFL finals, low crowd AFL Premiership matches).

  11. Tenders closed on 5 August 2009 for the pavilion extension to accomodate MFC and which will also provide better facilities for the Scorps and other clubs using the complex.

The contract was awarded to a builder at a Special Council Meeting on 11 August 2009.

    A very quick turnaround time!

Site works commenced a couple of weeks ago with an off-contract levelling of the site so that the builder could get cracking earlier.

Aim is to be completed in March 2010.

  12. AND CASEY ARE WAY ABOVE SANDRINGHAM ON THE LADDER!

    1 Williamstown 14 11 3 0 1 0 1621 1209 134.08 44

    2 Casey Scorpions 14 9 5 0 1 0 1381 1015 136.06 36

    3 North Ballarat 13 9 4 0 2 0 1166 964 120.95 36

    4 Port Melbourne 13 9 4 0 2 0 1224 1055 116.02 36

    5 Northern Bullants 13 8 5 0 2 0 1243 1165 106.70 32

    6 Box Hill Hawks 14 8 6 0 1 0 1255 1228 102.20 32

    7 Collingwood 13 7 6 0 2 0 1183 1148 103.05 28

    8 Geelong 13 7 6 0 2 0 1271 1310 97.02 28

    9 Sandringham 13 6 7 0 2 0 1290 1094 117.92 24

    10 Coburg Tigers 14 6 8 0 1 0 1392 1394 99.86 24

    11 Werribee Tigers 14 5 9 0 1 0 1176 1370 85.84 20

    12 Frankston 13 2 11 0 2 0 962 1439 66.85 8

    13 Bendigo Bombers 13 0 13 0 2 0 828 1601 51.72 0

  13. I think that the AFL listed player must have played 8 matches in the VFL during the season to be eligible to be selected for the VFL team in a finals match

EXCEPT where the AFL team is also (still) playing in the finals in which case the player can be selected in the VFL finals team regardless of the number of VFL matches played during the season.

  14. All this talk of tanking and resting McLean, Moloney, Jurrah etc while putting Zomer on the ball and Valenti at full fwd should be put to bed.

We can still mathematically make the 8!

This the ladder predictor I came up with and I have us playing Essendon in week 1 of the finals - if all goes to plan ;)

Predicted Ladder # Team Pl W L D PF PA Perc Pts

    1 St Kilda 22 21 1 0 2375 1583 150.03 84

Who did St KFC lose to?

  15. Anyone know what they're opening at Casey Fields today?

The Minister of Sport is opening the new spectator facilities on the outer side of the ground, prior to the main game which starts at 1:10pm.

    The facilities are:

    * covered terracing either side of the scoreboard

    * canteen

    * toilets

    * a scoreboard on the grandstand side so that spectators on the outer side can see the score.

  16. When is it the construction due for completion? early next year?

If everything goes according to schedule, and an acceptable tender price is received, March 2010.

Are they going to increase the balcony or another Casey Scorp??

No balcony extension - the facilities are all admin upstairs (with offices looking out over the ground, some of which will be used on match day as coaches boxes, media etc). Extending the balcony in front of those offices would obscure the view of play from the offices.

  17. Three of the next 4 Casey Scorpions Matches on ABC TV:

    Saturday June 27th v Williamstown @ Williamstown

Saturday July 11th v Frankston @ Casey Fields

    Saturday July 18th v Collingwood @ Sandringham

TV coverage starts from 1:00pm - all games start at 1:10pm.

The July 11 match is preceded by the official opening of the new spectator facilities (covered standing area, kiosk & toilets) on the outer side at Casey Fields.
