Caught the train down from Sydney to Melbourne to watch us lose the 88 Grand Final by a then record margin. Pulled a bird on the train ride down so wasn't a complete was of time. Was a long, lonely and painful 14 hour ride home though!

Saw this last week on Facebook and got emotional watching it. I would have been at many of those games and still clearly remember that intercept mark against Hawthorn, Kelvin Moore I think it was. He kicked a goal from it too. Very few players could read the play before it happened like Robbie. Very fond childhood memories. We would get flogged more often than not but you just knew you would see a genius at work and he never disappointed.

I drove past Goschs this morning and stopped in traffic just near the rehab group. I noticed Garlett running in short bursts very gingerly on his own, not looking comfortable at all. Are there any current reports of him being injured?

Gold Coast or even Freo would have been ideal, and they surely could do with a player like Watts, but even they werent interested.....seems strange to me.

Disappointed to see him go, but Im all for the club setting standards and letting the playing group know what is not acceptable. Weve played this pretty badly however, we could have got even a late teens draft pick if we didnt air all the dirty laundry, and certainly could have avoided paying any of his salary. We are not far away. I mentioned in the JW thread that i had a chance encounter with a well known Port coaching staff member on holidays yesterday. The 2 teams Port feared the most were Adelaide and The Dees. He was as surprised at our end of season failings as we all our. When i said i put this down to our coaches and leadership he agreed. We need more leaders. We have some in the making but they are not ready yet. Lever was touted as future Capt material at a team that played in a GF this year.....that is why we are prepared to pay overs for him in my opinion

I just had a by chance encounter with A VERY high up coaching staff member of an interstate team chasing Jack. He said they are very keen on him but Jack does not want to leave Victoria. He did say that he doubts Jack will remain a Dee though. He also added only 25% of trade talk has any merit at all

I reckon he will be. I spent an hour with him only 5 or 6 weeks ago and he mentioned how much time he spends at the club (travels with them as well) and the pay is average. He is right into his music and gigs regularly and loves it, it will probably give him more time to focus on this I`d say. It may well have been a mutual agreement.

No you are right, I reckon Flash was the first ever in the league to consistently provide forward pressure.

He has already shown he has the outrageous skill, and yes I think his tank is the only thing that stopped him from being considered one of the elite players of the competition.....I thought it would happen this year but that will definitely happen next year.
