What is the point in having a 'marquee' player at full forward if the ball doesn't get down there enough for a few years? By the time the rest of the team has enough experience to do so, the marquee player will be hobbling around on crutches. Anyone trying to recruit such an expensive player without getting the OK of the football department that it fits into its plans is asking to be removed.

Lighten up everyone. Surely the new Board would have only taken such a dramatic, controversial and costly step if it had good reasons. Or do some of the posters here think they are all crazy? Surely by now we should have no faith that the old Board got the appointment right. So give Jim a break. He's clearing the decks so we can start afresh. Hopefully he has got it right. Judge ONLY by the outcome over the next year or so.

Where I used to work if we did a makeover of the website, we did it all 'privately' until all the glitches were ironed out and it was fully tested. Only then did it became the publicly accessible page. Anything else seems hopelessly amateur to me. However if the AFL/Bigbond people can produce a reasonable rationale for why they are releasing it in the current manner, then I am ready to hear it (though I suspect laughter will follow). Are they driven my some mad desire to look 'new' before the season starts? If so, what did they do all summer?

The 'new' mfc page is terrible. Major problems with Firefox on a Mac and just freezes Safari or old versions of IE. Surely they could find someone more competent than Telstra/Bigpond to do it. I bet there are a few teco supporters who could do a more professional job for nix. (By professional I don't just mean lots of pics and movement, but something that has been thoroughly tested on a variety of platforms.)
