  1. Would be surprised if Lindsay isn’t right in the frame for one of these picks. Dovaston probably a reach at 8 (I know it becomes 12) but I think as it stands those two would be my preference. Again it’s not the greatest draft we’ve ever seen but hopefully we can snag a couple.
  2. I’d be playing May at Casey based on his end of season form FB: Lever Petty Salem HB: Bowey Turner Jiath C: Windsor Viney Lindsay HF: Fritsch Mihocek Culley FF: Melksham JVR Chandler Foll: Gawn Kozzy Langford Int: Rivers Steele Langdon AMW Tholstrup with potential for one or both of Picks 7 and 8 to come in I was quick to criticise lamb but overall I think he did a pretty good job - 8/10 for the trade period
  3. If it’s a 2026 first rounder that’d actually be a reasonable deal. 2027 🥴
  4. If it’s true we’re giving Trac, 24 and 28 for 7+8 and a future Suns’ pick, that’d better bloody be their future first or Tim Lamb can hand his resignation in at 7:31pm
  5. The calibre of this draft is the real shame. If in any other draft Gold Coast just needed points for academy players so were willing to trade out 2 top 10 picks this would be a massive win-win. They even gave up pick 6 last year for Dan Rioli. Unfortunately timing couldn’t be worse.
  6. We knew it was coming but it’s now confirmed. Humphrey is not going to be traded.
  7. Yes because the medical certainly didn’t happen
  8. Demon4Life joined last Wednesday. Very likely a troll
  9. When Gold Coast hoist the premiership cup in September next year, I do hope they acknowledge us for helping in their list build.
  10. If it ends up being picks 7 and 8 for Trac, [censored] sending Gold Coast back pick 24 to assist with their academy products. If they’re not going to pony up and give trade Humphrey who clearly wants out, why should we have to help them secure their neatly packaged path to a premiership. It’s more the principle than thinking pick 24 is a future superstar, I am so sick of this club just rolling over.
  11. I don’t hate the Suns but I don’t like being bent over by them and pleasing their every wish. I know it’s just the way the system works at the moment but we’re being used as their dumping ground so they can offload two draft picks that they don’t want or need so they can accumulate points with second and third rounders so they can take a superstar of the competition and 2 of the top 5 players in the draft crop (which only bats about 6 deep). Woe is me but I hate it
  12. Can anyone in this camp explain how losing a future 250 gamer in McVee and Petracca for what will be picks 10 and 11 in a weak draft is actually a good result? Or is it just the (justified) pessimism where we expect to be shafted at the trade table?
  13. Yes, but they’re good prospects in the same sense that the mid-late second rounders in last year’s draft were good prospects. They’re still not the calibre of drafted that picks in that range normally are. They could still turn into great AFL players, but so good a random kid plucked from pick 47. It’s just that the likelihood of drafting a future superstar in this draft is far lower than last year.

  15. We need to stop consoling ourselves with the ‘two top 10 picks for a 30 year old myth.’ If it ends up being the two first rounders then we have to live with it and move on. But 2 top 10 picks in the 2025 draft is not the same as 2 top 10 picks last year, in 2023, 2022 or even 2021. Notwithstanding that 7 & 8 becomes either 10 & 11 or 11 & 12, the draft is frighteningly shallow. I’m no twomey but I do keep an interest in draft crops, and the only one this is comparable to in recentish years is 2020. We would be victims of a robbery if that is how the trade unfolds, no point pretending otherwise.
  16. No news in this case is not good news
  17. Disagree here. Dont think a top 15 talent in this draft walks into our best 23 at all. It’s a demonstrably weaker draft than the one in which we took Koltyn pick 13, and 2 years in he’s on the periphery and playing most weeks at Casey. Besides, I don’t want to lose an absolute superstar of our club for a couple of kids that can play a role without setting the world on fire.
  18. Does this count for anything 😬
  19. Yes, but obviously no trade action over the weekend. If, like demons forever suggests there’s a meeting between Humphrey and the club tomorrow, you’d think that if there was a trade request coming, it’d come pretty shortly after. Maybe COB tomorrow is a bit hasty, but end of weekend maximum. If we’re heading into Monday with no word of him explicitly wanting to join us I just think there’s too many pieces that need to fall into place for the deal to get done, especially with Gold Coast being as resolute as they have hitherto been.
  20. If by COB tomorrow there’s no Humphrey trade request I reckon you can just about put a pin in this. Until then you can only hope.
  21. And that’s without considering that this draft is demonstrably shallower than the last two seasons, and far more compromised.
  22. Lamb gives less than nothing away.
  23. One of the weirder posts that one was
  24. For next year, no. For the long term (assuming Mihocek is successful in tutoring JVR and Jeffo), absolutely.
  25. Hate to bring the mood down but I think we might be glorifying the calibre of this draft a little now it seems we’re gonna have two high picks. A couple months back Twomey who everyone knows is the draft guru stated that everyone taken picks 1-5 in the 2023 draft would be a shoe in for pick 1 this year, and Sanders (pick 6) would’ve been in the mix. That’s a top 5 that includes Zane Duursma - he would’ve been the runaway pick 1. We took Windsor with pick 7, and even though I love the kid, he was touted to be more in the early teens range. In this draft he would be an outside smoky for pick 1. The only player in this draft that’s of interest to me at the high end is Sullivan Robey, but he’ll almost certainly be off the board by 6 (becomes 10+ with Allen compo, Uwland, Patterson and Annable, potentially Dean and King). I’ll back whichever kids we bring in and hope for the best, but I’m under no illusions that we’ll be getting another Langford and Lindsay.
