  1. I hope that by the season's end if we have been struck by various plagues and infamies and crook justice from umpires, my post won't be seen as Monbon does The Moz...
  2. Um, and I emphasize, um, I am getting a 'vibe' that the sins of 2022 have been addressed by both the recruiters and the sheer luck of injury incidence. Fingers crossed the latter continues, and I feel so much for Sean's son who seems to have been cursed... The vibe I am getting is similar to the Richmond response to falling after premiership success. Posters have mentioned Griffith and his 'sins' compared to his 'defector', but in the end, injury management is a contest between the gods and sheer natural serendipity. Touch wood, the tea leaves seem benign at the moment. Long may they continue to fall this way. More than that, the vibe from the players feels better than at any time in my long years as a Melbourne supporter.
  3. And though he didn't live up to the hype, he played some decent footy for us in his later years, especially 1973, 21 games, 24 goals 6 Brownlow Votes.
  4. He's been poised to deliver for 7 years now... I love the guy, I watched him kick a bag and mark everything at Box Hill in his first year - his team mates were being slaughtered at Geelong at the same time - Roo's last year - but the bottom line is every season after that was 6 years of 'promise'...
  5. As long as salmon doesn't become salmonella...
  6. Corelli, Casals, Cluytens, whatever. I am a genius, as per your summation, I am very intelligent and the proof is I swear a lot - apparently it is one of the symptoms of higher intelligence - but I have never been good at cryptics. I find life cryptic enough, thank god I was born a coptic...
  7. The horrors they faced are basically unspeakable. My heart goes out to them. War is total bulldust.
  8. Very moving. I love that he's had the courage and faith to live his life and face the dark moments which in the end, confront us all. I have total respect for him.
  9. Why thank you, maam, aw shucks. I've lived and breathed classical music since my dad's record of Beethoven's 9 - about the Brotherhood of Man- permeated my thick skull as I lay moaning with a migraine. I was 14. A confirmed Manfred Mann, Rolling Stones devotee till then. True story.
  10. Let me guess, if I may? Our daughter has nominated this same restaurant as her birthday celebration event later this month.
  11. I'm looking forward to a real one: great violinists, cellists, conductors, none of this pseudo music junk...
  12. It never occurred to me until recently: then the penny dropped. To me, there was always something fishy about the all boys club called The Apostles...
  13. English Standard Version And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Mathew 4;19, Mark 1;17.
  14. For I will make you a fisher of men...How suss was that?
  15. 1: An electric train set for xmas. 2: to wine a few million on Powerball. 3: A lasting Peace Agreement in Ukraine.
  16. Fair enough...Like I say, I'd love him to do well.
  17. It was more to do with the players carrying injuries into the business end: the reason we were consistently outplayed, despite leading at half in most matches. The players I refer to are: Langdon, Petracca, Oliver, Gawn, Lever, Salem, Viney.
  18. 2022 was however, the injury season from hell for the Demons. It had not much to do with Burgo's mantra.
  19. But when he has, he ain't done that much to help his cause. I like the lad, I want him to succeed but he's yet to prove himself at senior level.
  20. I firmly believe in the Marx Brothers Axion - There ain't no Sanity Clause, however, if you do do the Merry Christmas scene - how can I Santa has NEVER delivered my electric train set - here's the best music to accompany it. Beware, it's Bach, and, unfortunately the words are subtitled. I just love the celebratory exultation of the music. It's from the third part of the Christmas Horatorio. There has never been a greater genius...Behold: And, if you click on Watch In You Tube it will appear...
  21. I urge you to explore Fasch: there's plenty on YouTube, look out for the Overtures...
  22. Watched this with the sound down, Fasch playing in the background - along with Telemann, a composer second only to Bach and Handel - and all the talk about his 'selfishness' is absolute bulldust. He saw an opportunity, he went for it. Most often, he was rewarded. The interesting thing is how often the Demons were in front before a last quarter demise. Also, what is interesting is that in the last 4 games of the season, the Demons decisively beat sides which they later succumbed to...
  23. The great Melbourne sides of the late 50's and early 60's had Reserves sides studded with players in waiting E.G. Massey, Miller, Crompton, Len Mann, Tony Anderson, Townsend, Emselle, Rowarth, Vagg, etc. It ain't no crime to bide your time.
