  1. So media reports ( I think Mitch Cleary) are saying selection committee will include Richardson ( God help us) new CEO who I believe knows nothing about AFL and Brad Green. Hardly inspires confidence!!!
  2. I can’t believe with the decision to sack a Premiership Coach that a Board (even Melbourne’s) would take such a huge decision without input from either a senior player (Max no way) or GM Football. Richardson would have heard the “noise” that major change was coming . It will come out in time because leaks always happen at Melbourne but if this is the case this reeks of Dean Bailey / Cameron Schwab ie we got the wrong man. Watch this space
  3. The most telling comment Goody made in his presser was he came to the club because of Peter Jackson and the then football department including Todd Viney and Josh Mahoney. Let’s not forget Jason Taylor too. These guys ( and Paul Roos) established the platform for Goody to achieve what only 3 other Melbourne coaches have achieved. Since the departure of Jackson,Mahoney and Todd Goody has had the “support” of Pert, his good mate Richo and Tim Lamb. Goodwin can coach his record proves that he should not be held entirely responsible for results since 2021. In my nearly 50 years of being a financial member I was never more excited than when Peter Jackson was running the club. Now… well I Fear it is back to mediocrity which unfortunately is what we do well. Thank you Simon I look forward to seeing which club is lucky enough to get your services going forward.I hope wherever you land you will have a United Board a wise CEO with football nous, a talented football department and a first class training base ….,none of which you have had at Melbourne recently (or ever with the training base). .
  4. Very well said. I thought Greene looked very uncomfortable in the press conference and Goody was so dignified. I do hope the Board know what they are doing🙏
  5. So does this mean Alan Richardson chairs the committee to choose the next coach. If so God help us
  6. I think one idea that would get unanimous support is another top to bottom review of the Football Department. This time conducted by independent experts I would suggest 3 under the chairmanship of Peter Jackson. The other two being AFL experts ( not an all Black). The terms of reference to be shared with members. All roles to be examined GM of football, senior Coach, Assistant Coaches, List Manager, Recruitment, Fitness,On field leaders, player skill levels. I know there are other issues but unless the Members and Sponsors have confidence in the Football Department I fear next year will be a financial disaster. I am a 44 year financial member and if I am considering not renewing my membership things are dire. For me nothing less than a INDEPENDENT review of the FD hopefully headed by PJ will restore my confidence in this club
  7. With all the talk on Demonland to sack Goody it amazes me that Alan Richardson comes under such little scrutiny. After 6 underwhelming years as St Kilda coach he made his way to Melbourne via Gary Pert ( apparently good mates). In his current role he oversees all coaches. Appointing Nathan Jones as midfield coach with no experience while we all have it sentimental approval doubts were there. Now clearly Goodwin is lacking the tactical support of Yze and McWalter in this area. Our kicking skills are deplorable and we are clearly not fit enough to run out games. Our List Management post 2021 has seen us clear out good players and bring in little resulting in no depth. All of this under Richardsons watch and he appears to escape scrutiny from everyone.
  8. The most important person in the Football Dept after Senior Coach is the List Manager. Watching the Swansv Bulldogs. Tim Lamb has let go JJ doing a great job on Richard’s, Brodie Grundy nearly BOG James Harmes going well. Watched GWS last week. Toby Bedford ran and ran and ran again and kicked a clutch goal Chad Warner now a regular at Freo, Jayden Hunt continues to break lines at West Coast. To cover these losses Lamb has brought in Well we know who he has brought in … no one. End result our list has nowhere near the depth we had in 2021. His results must be scrutinised at years end.
  9. Not forgetting we hardly have an injury at the moment. So this is the best our full list can deliver.
  10. Has anyone got Jack Vineys kicking efficiency for last 2 weeks?
  11. The Trunk posted a topic in Melbourne Demons
The problem the MFC have at the moment is lack of depth on our list. Since the departure of Josh Mahoney Tim Lamb has weakened our list. Some of it beyond his control (Gus and Joel Smith) both big losses for different reasons. BUT look at Lambs record. 2022 In Grundy ( gave him away for nothing a year later) Lachie Hunter (a cultural disaster apparently) Josh Schache ( no comment needed) Out Toby Bedford (error) Jayden Hunt ( line breaker) Luke Jackson ( probably inevitable) Wiedeman. 2023 In Fullarton ( What did Goody say last year “Can’t get a kick at Casey!) McAdam and Billings ( say no more) Out James Harmes ( no world beater but had heart) Grundy (for pick 46 mind boggling). 2024 In Harry Sharp ( doubts after yesterdays game but too early to place judgement) Tom Campbell ( hopefully they play him because I watched the practice game against North and thought he was very good not what I was expecting) Plus we have given extended contracts to our older players all of whom aren’t great kicks and are not getting any faster The end result is we have no depth in our list. At full strength with Pickett May McVee and Windsor in we will be competitive but lose a few and we have to play Howes Woewodin Laurie etc we are no where near the best sides. Tim Lambs decisions deserve far more scrutiny
  12. Can someone tell me what Chandlers role in the side is? Still can’t believe we kept him and let Toby Bedford go
  13. Well IF Pert did shop Clarry around and the Board shut it down his position as CEO is now untenable
  14. I also was lucky enough to make it to Perth to witness our glorious victory. After witnessing our defeats in 1988 and 2000 it was bloody fantastic. I travelled from Queensland spent 2 weeks in Quarantine in Tasmania and then flew to Perth. What annoys me about this site is the presumption that everyone at the game were West Coast Supporters dressed up as Demons. Just not true. I was surrounded by die in the wool Dees. I went to the final training day on the Friday and not sure how many Dees supporters were there but heaps as were the thousands who gathered in the Mall on Sunday as Garry Lyon presented the players and the guttural roar that emanated from the crowd when we hit the front in the 3rd quarter was spine tingling. My point is there were so many true supporters there. I would suggest there were double the number of true supporters at that game compared with the paltry crowds who came out to support the Dees in our last 2 home and away games this season. Just saying.
  15. Bring Steven Smith in yesterday. Was a great player in a poor team. Kept Leigh Mathews kickless in a match then Leigh did what he did in those situations king hit him from behind. Smashed his jaw I believe ( on YouTube). Is smart with a legal background, sensible, passionate about the Dees is a past and very good and popular President of the MCC ….light years ahead of the incumbent. Bring it on …..please.
