Farewell Clayton Oliver
They would have known, but for $200k he is worth the gamble on there end. It's a long off season.

I'd like to hope so mate.

So, if Clayton ends up of the rails in Sydney, out of the MFC inner sanctums control so to speak, surely they have protected themselves in a contract sense or get out clause? It still baffles me how players can still leave an organisation or be ontraded for off field issues and still have to foot the best part of a 1 million dollar contract.

I would have preferred to see greeny up with a Harvey Langford or a Caleb windsor instead of looking like a 10 year old fan girl with some guy from another club. This guy is nothing to us besides an over consumed thread

Hearing ya Jim, but if your fit and healthy, and playing your best footy, you wouldn't have an issue with a clause like that, opposed to to de goey, not wanting to sign because he was midst that stage of his life playing up etc.

I hear what your saying DF, but everyone keeps going on about 7 and 8, which is going to be realistically 10 and 11 possibly higher, which then turns into 2 x low teen picks for our best player, along with topping these [censored] up to help them gain access to 2 top 10 kids from there academy. Happy with the 2 higher picks, which I'd be flipping to west coast or who ever ends up higher up the board, but no more than trac going there way, it's just a [censored] in the face of Tim Lamb who is once again turning out to be a wet paper bag come trade time.

Yep also considering GWS have offered him peanuts, so Essentially they will be paying the same amount for a 3 time All Australian, 3 time best and fairest player as they will be for a first year player, thanks Melbourne. If they want him gone they won't get anyone stupid enough to take his whole wage, but I still understand how there isn't clauses in contracts for "mishaps" which lead to player attitude, some kind of get out of jail free clause. So many players go off the rails and clubs are the ones to suffer with these contracts, it's [censored].

Where has anyone outside of demonland said that Bailey Humphrey wants to play for Melbourne? I wish it was different Danny but I just think if he come out and said I want to be traded to Melbourne they are my club of choice things would look a bit different.

If Bailey genuinely wanted to get to Melbourne I'd say it would be getting done, my gut feel is he doesn't want to come to the Dees, still wants to come back to Victoria but just not to Melbourne. I'd bet that if hawthorn or Collingwood genuinely wanted him and had equal collateral for a trade it would be getting done, not enough noise publicly from Bailey, ie like Curnow, Petracca, Merret, Oliver, Flanders etc to satisfy Gold Coast that he is actually serious, they know they will get Trac either way, of course they are going to stay firm on keeping him. We aren't a destination club for young guns, only for a top up in retirement fund players.

I think the only smoke to this BBQ is on demonland, painfully listening to trade radio/SEN for the last 10 hours and no mention of Humphrey today, just the Dee's getting bent over to make the sun's a genuine competitor next season is about that's been said. Hoping the intel on demonland is quietly correct, but with just over 48 hrs left to get it done, I can't see it happening 😫

If it does end up being picks Melbourne settle for, I definitely would not be giving them anymore than the player. They want to take one of our best players who is contracted for another 4 years, in return for pick 7 and 8, which will most likely blow out to 10 and 11, but also want our later picks to match bids for academy players who one will go top 10 anyway? Makes absolutely no sense giving anymore than petracca, the minute Melbourne allowed him to nominate a club they have conceded defeat, no wonder gold Coast aren't budging on humphrey, they will get petracca, keep humphrey, and still gain picks to get zeke uwland in the draft, I'm all for trac going - but if it's 7 and 8 we receive we need to turn that into something pretty special before draft night.

Best you bring out the tomahawk steaks, cheers for the updates. Checking the demonland app like an 18 year old looking at an exes socials.

All I heard from Craig was they aren't trading any players that were mentioned, so in hindsight they want want want, but don't want to part with any players.

I wouldn't mind betting that King was part of last year's circus with Geelong, they would have got a fair bit of information on him last year, it's one thing to bring him in to a fresh club and try and rehabilitate him back to his somewhat best than it is to actually come in and coach him still in his same environment. Love the guy as a player and everything he has done in the red and blue, but I'm now looking forward to the next 200 games of Rivers, Harvey, Lindsay, Kozzie, Windsor. I wonder how keen GWS would be if they were paying his whole salary and not getting a free hit gift, it would be a whole different story I'd say.

Farewell Christian Petracca
You cannot compare the Neeld era to the current one, mark neeld was a terrible club decision which followed another in Dean Bailey, but if you want comparisons in Neelds draft years as coach we drafted Jesse Hogan and Jack Viney, in 2011 and 2012 respectively, and Dean Bailey's era gave us Max Gawn, Tmac and Nev Jetta coming on the back off 24 wins in 5 and a half years between the 2 darkest coaching times in Melbourne's history, but if King can draft in 5 players of the above qualities then I'd say we would be sitting not too bad. Our list does not need a full rebuild, a somewhat reset yes. But losing the 3 players in question is not the end of the road, as I said they aren't the first and won't be the last champions.

Farewell Christian Petracca
Completely agree, trac does not want to play at Melbourne, we need players who want to be Melbourne people - bleed red and blue, alot can be said about drafting new kids, am enthusiastic and culture building injection. We are not in the premiership window anymore, we have the chance to start fresh with a nice reset. If we cannot land bailey humphries, then I am more than happy with some early draft picks, the way trac, may and clarry carried on the last couple of years is culture killing, and would be in any work place. These guys are Melbourne champions and always will be, but the minute they choose not be a Melbourne person and don't want to wear the red and blue then don't let the door hit you on the way out, they aren't the first champions to play for the Melbourne footy club and they won't be the last. Bring kids in that will bleed the red and blue, like the rest of us do.

Mind you the other one involved has been blasted all over the paper down here, it's a disgrace how much geelong footballers get away with down here.

Geez, really racking up the frequent flyer points is CP5, I'd hope that Melbourne's hierarchy are wining and dining contracted players aswell, or true to form we will end up with draft picks that will in turn leave us after 1 year, they can keep there draft picks, we had how many first rounders in the last 2 years? And still no list improvement, good kids thrive in a good environment, im gona be absolutely [censored] off if there is not a DECENT player coming our way for trac. Humphrey or King from GC or Rachelle, Soligo, or Fogarty from Adelaide is about all I'm looking at, still harping on making this work for Luke Jackson somehow though, where there's smoke there's fire, surely the door is slightly ajar for him in all this.

The West Australian reporting on trac to freo aswell, I can't see the article but surely if clubs like freo start to enquire that in itself would be entertaining enough too bring LJ back.
