  1. In light of the MFC getting more funding from the AFL earlier this year to fund The Great Cleanout of 2013, and the issue with Essendon's possible loss of part of its base payments I will list who got what in the last two years. There are too many people who do not know that every club is funded from AFL House, to the point that if they didn't all clubs would go under. This is from the AFL's Annual Reports. I have highlighted the lowest and the highest numbers in each year. 2011 ($) Adelaide 7,882,810 Brisbane Lions 9,539,612 Carlton 10,005,058 Collingwood 10,472,551 Essendon 9,995,099 Fremantle 8,056,370 Geelong 9,704,292 Gold Coast 7,864,234 Hawthorn 8,689,212 Melbourne 9,239,301 North Melbourne 10,111,072 Port Adelaide 11,021,514 Richmond 9,092,489 St Kilda 9,192,204 Sydney Swans 9,129,034 West Coast Eagles 8,461,483 Western Bulldogs 10,409,935 2012($) Adelaide 10,270,406 Brisbane 10,783,001 Carlton 10,870,010 Collingwood 12,535,189 Essendon 11,980,149 Fremantle 9,337,414 Geelong 11,135,334 Gold Coast 9,352,117 Greater Western Sydney 9,343,512 Hawthorn 10,636,732 Melbourne 12,650,732 North Melbourne 12,319,940 Port Adelaide 11,138,943 Richmond 11,545,320 St Kilda 12,502,276 Sydney 11,916,038 West Coast 9,229,523 Western Bulldogs 12,704,635
  2. I'd say it is more relevant than Toumpas being labelled soft. I am more keen to know who thinks it is ok to judge a rookie like that and forward that opinion to a fan.
  3. That $1.4 is on top of our discretionary distributions... I feel like starting a thread with the numbers from the AFL Annual Report... I will do it later.
  4. I knew you would get there eventually... It was like herding a cat.
  5. So as long as a professional athlete plays ignorant - he can do what he likes? 'Don't tell me what you're doing, as long as you say it's fine doc, I am sweet.' Plausible deniability is not what we are going for in a post Lance Armstrong sporting landscape.
  6. The bigger news is who said that - not his opinion of Toumpas being soft. Talk about burying the lead...
  7. I meant that we could wear a strip that has the MCC colours.
  8. They were just 'following orders?'
  9. What is worse to a team? A player playing 'soft' in his first year of footy, or a teammate giving that opinion to a supporter?
  10. The players are grown men and should be punished but, really, the only punishment of Hird will be the continuation of pressure on him until he loses his credibility and his job.
  11. Is it the same material then?
  12. I like Frawley... Just a heads up - in the event we lose Frawley - we would be very unlikely to go after a FA unless they are the top tier like Murphy, Boak, et al. The reason is that Frawley will net the pick after our first round pick, which will be very close to the top of the order. Signing a FA will dilute that pick.
  13. Yes, and I hope that they end up hurting their own brand, because all I can see that will come of their belligerence is the 'punishment' of not paying $1m to The Most Arrogant Man In Football.
  14. It's more what happened around those dates that was the problem...
  15. Rebecca Wilson seeing an opportunity to 'score one for League' doesn't convince me of anything. He has been in charge long enough and perhaps it is time for a change but his sacking fixes nothing when it comes to Essendon's belligerence and the drugs saga that is not resolved - as much as Wilson thinks everyone at Essendon has gotten away with it.
  16. Perhaps our away strip should pay homage to our home?
  17. Good on Colin and James for doing that. Let's hope it looks red when we get out there playing... And the MCC logo... I think it's fitting for a club that came out of a ground and a cricket club than a suburb but I can understand people not agreeing with that...
  18. I made a benign point about the top Uncontested Possession winners at the club and that the player in question (Clisby) was at the top. What followed was derailed by you - if you feel like you lost whatever that was that is not my concern. My advice to quit was not for your pursuit of 'winning an argument' - more 'constructing an argument.' Your posts following my point contained rejections of all stats related to the MFC over the past 5 years, the mention of Gysberts as some sort of proof of this, and your opinion that I didn't have a point. If I didn't have a point, what is your problem?
  19. lol Well argued. Quit while you're behind, Billy.
  20. This is why a debate with you is pointless - a seemingly innocuous, yet incongruous, point that you should just abandon - and yet you double down and up the snark. Waiting for the snark to this post...
  21. That's all you had to say.
  22. I wasn't giving a random set of mids - I was giving the Top 6 Uncontested Possession winners at the club. And HBF is the easiest position in the world to play but that doesn't mean the soft kicks are just lined up for you - you have to work. Lynden Dunn - Lands latest HBF crush - averaged 8.6 UPs last year (=324th in the league). If Clisby was 'just doing what a HBFer should be doing' he was doing it well, and better than anyone else. And, finally, if Vince and Jones managed 14+ UPs next year we would be a far better team. It would mean that Vince is doing what we got him for, and that others are helping Nathan to get the ball in the first place so that he can spread himself and get the footy in space.
  23. Clisby also averages 13.9 Uncontested Possessions in the AFL which is ahead of Cross (13.8), Vince (13.5), Matt Jones (13.3), Terlich (12.7), and Nathan Jones (12.3). That tells me he works hard to spread and provide options.
