Flaubert - My consternation over the Pert appointment was the process which I have heard (outside of Caroline Wilson’s word) was old Melbourne; rushed, the board not fully supportive, the AFL blind sided. I am most definitely supportive of the club and hope he does well, but I hate that Bartlett has allowed even the perception of this kind of amateurish behaviour with one of the most important decisions a club can make.

That would effectively be a 6 year contract from now... Gotta be irresponsible, surely...

Observable reality (if you’re smart enough) screamed that we came into this trade period ready to trade out Hogan and move on May. The fact that Mahoney inelegantly admitted that we won’t get May if Hogan isn’t traded revealed how desperate we were to send Hogan to Fremantle; we were actively recruiting a player with the riches from trading Hogan. ! Its a maths equation: x requires y and we want x, so y has to happen and did happen.

I think we will give Preuss FF a go with the 6-6-6. Someone has to start in the square. Having Weideman, T Mac, Melksham, Petracca and Spargo/Fritsch/Hannan/Garlett seems pretty appetising for our midfield to hit up with no intercepting loose players...

Yeah, the inference is that we will get him back cheaply in a couple years when Lyon has his way and he becomes a ‘turn croad’ ...

It’s obvious this is designed to attack the need that the Gaff chase was to address. He definitely has a role in the best 22 if he can get fit - beautiful kick. Basically replace Tyson/Jones kicking into the forward line with KK/Salem and we are a lot better.

I think we are a big chance to go into 2019 with 38 or 39 on the senior list. There is just no point in bringing in 2 players in the ND when you could probably get them with more flexibility in the Rookie Draft.
