I couldn't imagine anything worse than Toby Greene as captain. Certainly up there with the most annoying footballers in the competition.

I think Gawn deserves to be selected as the starting ruckman more than Naitanui does. Even if it's true that Naitanui is the best tap ruckman, Gawn does a lot more damage on the ground and he impacts the scoreboard far more regularly.

2021 ABC Footballer of the Year - Clayton Oliver
Hopeful Demon replied to Wilson7's topic in Melbourne Demons
Easily one of our best midfielders in the modern era. While his set shots are an area of his game that needs improvement, he has the ability to snap crucial goals in big games like the one last night. I can't imagine what the result last night would've been without him. I still can't get my head around the fact that he's only 24 years old. -
Why did I stop watching in the second quarter! Clayton Oliver is an absolute champion. If he wins the brownlow it will have been well and truly deserved. Nothing better than beating Geelong in this way.
-
Oliver never fails to stand up in big games.

How? Sure, our performance this half has been awful and I can see why people are frustrated, but the abusive comments directed at certain players are just gutless.
-
I'd go for the posts. The willful abuse of some of the players in this thread is just depressing.

Can we please sort out Hawkins?
-
I can name about 6 other players from that team who I loathe.
-
The person who I can't stand is Guthrie. That was an absurd free kick against May.
-
Petracca has certainly been active in that department. He's kicked 24 goals this year and he could end up with over 30 if we go deep into the finals. He must be our first midfielder in many years who's kicked over 20 goals in a season.
-
I'll take a 7 goal win anytime. The game was by no means pretty but I'm pleased that we controlled the game in the last quarter and didn't allow Adelaide to get back in it. The standouts were Langdon and Fritsch. They both had their best games for weeks. I also felt really confident when the ball went in Lever's direction. He's one of the best intercept markers in the competition.

Langdon arguably having the best game of his career.

3 possessions at half time is not a great sign.

Agree. I haven't written him off yet but he hasn't shown enough when he's been picked in the backline. He probably should've been given a chance to play forward last year when Tmac was struggling. I remember in one preseason game in 2019 he kicked 4 goals as a forward.

MFC player racially abused on social media - club statement
Hopeful Demon replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ok, I'll quickly tell you where you're wrong now. The fact that the AFL is starting to provide these sorts of awards shows that they are finally making some effort to acknowledge the contributions and work ethic of the Aboriginal community. Since when was it so oppressive to celebrate a culture that has been at the receiving end of discrimination, oppression and abuse for so many decades? -

I hope you understand that it is possible to express disagreements without resorting to unnecessary ad-hominem attacks. I don't think it's that difficult. -

It seems that you're the only one who wants politics to be involved in this thread. By accusing people of being "lefties," you are displaying how hostile you are to people who don't hold the same views as you do. I couldn't care less if you disagree with other peoples' posts but leave those derogatory labels out of your comments. -
I am a Vandenberg fan but he hasn't been doing enough lately and he makes too many skill errors, especially by foot. I appreciate his toughness and aggression but we have several other players with the same qualities. I think that Jones is a more rounded and skillful player. He is too good to be kept out of the team for so many weeks.

Luke ‘dogga’ Jackson rising star favourite
Hopeful Demon replied to Dave1711's topic in Melbourne Demons
This thread is about ready for a bump. Luke Jackson is an absolute star. There's no doubt that he has a chance of winning the rising star award this year. In our past two wins he has easily been in our top 3-5 best players. It's amazing to think that he's only 19 given the amount of talent he's already shown. Fast becoming one of the best young players in the competition. -
I'd happily take that. The last 15 minutes were certainly hard to watch but I'm sure that if it wasn't for the infuriating lightning break we would've kept the game in control and won by 6-8 goals. That break completely messed with our focus. ANB and Melksham had their best games of the season. Brown is coming along nicely. Petracca and Oliver, as always, worked really well together in the midfield. The last 15 minutes aside, that was a very impressive win. We were all over them until three quarter time.

The West Coast fans are a bunch of entitled brats.

Very good quarter until the last few minutes. Langdon was back to his early season form.
