Geelong played to their maximum capacity last weekend and for all their so called dominance only won by 28. With 10 minutes to go if Kosi doesn’t miss scores are level. Our pressure was way off what we’re capable off, we have several players fumbling a lot very early in the game and we had two of our weapons in Gawn and Jackson struggling to find touch and missing with injury. For all of our so called problems we’re sitting second by 2.7%. Nothing is guaranteed but I’m confident a top 2 finish awaits then our dream of back to back is there for the taking.

I wouldn’t say maximum capacity, they were missing Stewart who, apart from literally taking players out, is a massive part of their game.

  2. R17: +2 days against Port (minus travel)

R18: -1 day against Bulldogs (minus travel)

R19: -1 day against Freo (both travel)

R20: +1 day against Collingwood (minus travel)

R21: +1 day against Carlton (plus travel)

R22: -1 day against Brisbane (both travel)

We looked so flat against Geelong, and I couldn’t help but think it’s due to our dodgy fixture. Apart from Rounds 20-21 (Collingwood-Carlton), we won’t be playing back to back games in the same State.

Our most advantageous rounds are Port and Carlton. We should be neutral against Collingwood.

Appreciate your comments mate. As someone who was at the ground would be good to know what the forward half looked like when we were rebounding off half back. The coverage was back to its typical rubbish last night with close in shots of contests without knowing what's happening upfield. So it was very frustrating seeing us try and handball in circles or take a split second too long to dispose of the footy but if there was nothing presenting upfield it's certainly understandable. Did we have no-one there? We're we outnumbered? Was it one on one contests with no clear targets?

I thought the Cats player us extremely well last night and we were clearly off. For all that we could have hit the lead with 10 minutes left. I still feel pretty positive after last night's game but we can't afford to drop many more games leading into finals.

SDK played as a spare for the first half. After that was generally one on one. Our forwards sat up quite high on the 50 to the centre square, which meant that we ended up kicking too long and turning it over. A couple of times we were lucky and had some speedsters to get out back.

Would have like to have seen our forwards head back to goal to create space on a tight oval. Worst thing that could happen is that we’d get a stoppage.

On reflection I’m disappointed by 2 very simple things:

We got beaten comprehensively at clearance all night.

We played into their hands with our ball use when we won it back in defence. Long down the line to no one. Gawn and Jackson underdone was a problem, but honestly we are so boring with our ball use from the back half for most of the last 2 months.

It’s a very hard ground to counter attack from defence because of its horrific shape, and Geelong’s knowledge of the ground. So if you lose clearances it’s next to impossible to win. That’s the biggest problem. I also think because our forward line is struggling we pushed Petracca forward but it costs us a line breaker around the ground. To be fair it’s a tough ground to break lines on. It’s just so claustrophobic.

    10/10 really well said.

    We improved dramatically under Roosy

North have gone backwards at a fast rate

    no, Roos built solid foundations

It wasn’t pretty footy under Roos. Defensive, uncontested footy as we couldn’t two way run at that stage. But built foundations.

Thank you. I watched this with ni sound so wasn't sure what the commentators were saying but it looked like Foggarty clearly round armed him.

Haha I should have watched it on mute too! The commentators didn’t mention it.. in fact from memory they were applauding another Adelaide player for limiting Lever’s impact.

Here is the moment of impact.

Lever never faces Fogarty, just moves him away from his team mates and congratulates their efforts.

This is effectively a coward punch from Fogarty. He punches a bloke who isn't even looking at him, who isn't engaged with him. It's just assault.

He also did a cheap hit to Lever’s ribs after Lever intercepted a mark in the 3rd Quarter

Andrew Phillips is out of contract again. Not the biggest fan personally, what are people's thoughts? Could he help?

I hate how much he dives in marking contests. If he just stuck his arms ups once in a while then he could actually take a good contested mark!!

  9. B: May, Lever, Hibberd*

    HB: Bowey, Petty, Salem

    C: Brayshaw, Petracca, Langdon

    R/F: Gawn, Oliver, Viney

    HF: Pickett*, McDonald, Harmes

    F: ANB*, Brown, Fritsch

    I: Spargo*, Jackson, Sparrow*, Rivers*

You’re only as good as your bottom 6. Above is our GF team and the * represents my view on them. When these guys play well we dominate. Hunt would be included.

That’s ironic considering you’ve been the most offended on behalf of De Goey. But good news… at 7 posts and 5 replies you’re in the lead!
