  1. Serves the Verucas right. Couldn't handle a year or two of no finals.
  2. Yeah I'll give it a go. When's the draft?
  3. I'm guessing Jon Pierik has been reading BigFooty as there is several flogs on there saying that Jim was orchestrating the whole thing. It's funny also that the main attack dogs are from Richmond and West Coast who should also be in the crosshairs of AFL HQ. On the rotations thing - if I was the coach of a team at the bottom of the ladder with more than a few players out of contract and not certain of a new one, I would give them every chance to prove themselves. If this means having less rotations to provide this opportunity, I would do it every time and would be more than upset if I was accused of 'tanking' by doing it.
  4. The major problem I have with the investigation/inquisition/kangaroo court is that 2012 rules are being applied to 2009 happenings. In 2009 all of this was considered OK and within the rules that applied at the time and still do outside of Caro and these so-called integrity officers. Even worse is that the weakest animal in the herd has been singled out for this retrospective application. Total [censored]. If Vlad and his cronies (Fitzpatrick et al) were fair dinkum an amnesty as suggested by Mark Fine would take place so all clubs perceived of 'tanking' could be looked at and a clear set of rules on what is and what is not tanking can be devised, plus the introduction of a lottery for the first 10 draft picks (all teams that missed the finals). The lottery might happen but I have no faith that any of the rest will. I also want to know who has sold out the club during the 'investigation'.
  5. Didn't he also smash Rhyce Shaw with a rather solid bump? If he could end up like Chappy I would be more than pleased.
  6. I'm not sure if it was suspended, and a quick google search found nothing. I do recall us being around $1.20 for this game and commenting to a mate that it was the surest money in the world. In the leadup to the game Koutoufides was quoted as saying there was no way Carlton would win and it was not in their interests to do so.
  7. If it is an issue in relation to betting on these games, all the sports betting agencies need to do is examine the betting sheets to see who had money on these games. If no-one connected with MFC wagered on the game then as far as I am concerned that is the end of betting being an issue in this investigation. If the agencies suspect something is up before the game has been played they can always suspend betting as often happens when star players etc are under an injury cloud.
  8. Fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and to feel differently about things. I really don't think we can possibly be hung out to dry without at least 4 other clubs getting the same, and I'm not sure AFL HQ will wanting to sanction a third of the clubs in the league as it is guaranteed to end up in a massive shitfight that no-one needs, especially when there is currently no clear definition of what constitutes tanking. If the worst comes to occur, the punishment should be no more than what we gained through 'tanking' if that is what it is, and that is having our 2013 first round pick taken from us. No more than that, and I even think that is too much given the whole thing is subjective and open to conjecture.
  9. Me either. It seems to be the MFCSS people (expecting the worst) plus the anti-Schwab/Connolly brigade (wanting the worst). As supporters all we can really do is let it take its course then react if anything happens.
  10. Well said by Don. If Schwabby gets the arse as a result of this, Brian Cook would be very nice thanks.
  11. Why was Pagan sacked? My understanding is that Carlton knew they had Judd around Round 12 or 13 in 2007, and Denis still trying to win games would jeopardise this, so he was fired and replaced by Ratten who was told to make sure there no more wins and after achineving this was rewarded with the coaching job for 2008. Riley knew he wouldn't be at the Dees in 2008 so I guess the offer from Carlton, which must have come before Round 22 may have had some influence, although I could have coached the team to a win over Carlton that day. Even Caroline Wilson said around the time Carlton knew they had Judd that the Blues would not win another game that year.
  12. The only outcome from this should be clarity on what is tanking and rules that outline this and what the sanctions wil be. All that is happening now is history being rewritten so that what happened can be shown to be tanking to suit the agendas of Caroline Wilson etc.We can't be convicted of something that wasn't breaking any rules at the time it may or may not have occured. Also, the people wanting us to be sanctioned - [censored] off and support Richmond or some other club.
  13. I can't see how pick 4 can be taken off us, as it is a compensation pick. When Carlton lost picks, they still got to keep a priority pick which was used on Andrew Walker. Can't see the difference.
  14. Bate will find another club. Bit disappointed to see him go but Neeld knows what he is doing. Always liked when he marked it on the HFF and banged it inside 50, plus the clutch goal he kicked in the final against the Aints in 2006. Reckon Jetta's 1%er against St Kilda in Round 20 that ended in a goal for Sellar got him over the line. The little fella sure has a crack. On the rookie list, Nicholson and probably Pickles will get upgrades.
  15. Took me a little while to get over Scott Thompson leaving as it was obvious how good he was going to be and the years since have just reinforced that. Now after 6 years of being an average or worse side I'm not so cut up about players going.
  16. So true. My opinion is most of the push for GWS or GC to bid on Jack is from other clubs and repeated ad nauseum by journos (generally [censored] who have an anti-MFC agenda) who want to see us pay overs as they perceive it helps them by each pick after ours being technically one better. The benefit I think for the other clubs is very marginal though.
  17. I actually had him getting 15. Will have to find my tally and see where the differences where. Either way - well done Chunk.
  18. I hope everyone got on. Easy money.
  19. I think the line is around 37.5 points. I'll be taking some of that.
  20. NFL Network games will be ONE from next week and ESPN a few weeks after that.
  21. In my opinion a lot of the implied pressure being put on GWS/GC to bid for Jack is coming from other (Victorian) clubs and maybe even AFL House not wanting us to get a free hit by getting Jack in the second round. GWS aren't stupid - they will take Whitfield at #1 and GC will most likely take Toumpas at #2. If we had pick 9 or 10 this would not be an issue but only having 2 teams that can bid on Jack there is this hysteria that we are getting the steal of the century if neither bid. If that's what happens the other clubs need to suck it up. Who knows, they might be in the same position we are one day.
  22. I thought North still got their standard good run form the umps yesterday.
