Take Oli out of the ruck and put Brayshaw into the spot. Play Brayshaw into form, and see which way we go from there. See what works best for us. Keep Viney inside the mids. And bring some other players thru the midfield to try them out, one at a time. Time to send the kids back, and bring Chunk in, and maybe JJordan.

What has happened to Clayton Oliver?

What ever it is, it's time to get him out of the centre, and give him a different role. Freshen him up and let him free. -

He's only been in once on shoulders; I don't remember him putting shoulders out on field. But if he's not fit don't go out there, get them right. -

And a side note, bruce was giving out hospital passes as well. But I don't think the reasons are the same. -

You kept posting he's got 2 B&F's. so what. Every player has to be accountable. 2 B&F's does not get him off playing carp footy. That's what I was on about. He has to fix this issue of disposal, inside the centre bounce. -

I've noticed it this year, unwilling to bump bodies with opposition. And that fits with his weak tackling this year. -

I said the coaches weren't happy with is disposal ratios, and he wastes a lot of them. And they want him to use the ball better and use it by foot. For him to kick more, as we know. That means they want him to get out with the ball and use it by foot. Not that he receives the ball on the outside, although that would be good as well. He should kick the ball more often, but not slam it onto boot under pressure as he does. He needs to escape with ball, away from the ball up, and use the ball. He can kick very well when he has time. -
Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
MyFavouriteMartian replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sometimes we play better as a team when we lose the midfield battle, and start to defend straight away, we link up better this way it seems. And then we attack from the backline. But we do struggle to move the ball thru the midfield zone. Maybe we should win the footy inside at centre bounces, then come out the back of that contest, and find a target coming off the back. Going straight into F50 isn't working. -

What am I on about. I'm on about, every player has to be held responsible whether they've played 2 games, or 250 games, whether they are 10 year players, or whether they have won 2 B&F's. He is not above the team, nor the club, and really has to get his act together instead of putting his teammates right in [censored] most of the time. He has lost the cleanness he had early in his career. Since I think he has had accolades. -

He's not so lazy in a physical sense possibly, but more in a mental sense imv. I think he shuts off after he reckons his part is done. So maybe lazy in that sense. And doesn't do enough when the ball is not in his area, hence his lack of effort to help out the defence, when the ball is coming back at us. I've seen him more in the backhalf in the past 2 matches, than i can remember. But he is not great, or skilled in that part of the ground. He makes a lot of mistakes. -

How many B&F's again was that. The rubbish is yours, that you think a player does not need to change and to improve. Wake up and look properly at games, and stop playing favourites. -

Pick on. You have a strange way of words about a footy game and the players of that game pf. No one is picking on Oli, but he has stopped progressing his individual game. It's time he got on top of his skill issues, and stepped up. -

And leadership i think was missing. I reckon chunk might have settled them down some what out there. And if Lewis was still out there, he would have calmed them down, and got them focused in the middle. What is happening now with the runners.? -

He's not moving with the ball; he takes a step or two and flick it out. His eyes are always too low, and doesn't look for other options. needs to raise his eyes a bit and also look to see a direct foot pass either laterally or directly forward. He dishes off his responsibility, and mostly puts the next teammate under the pump, because of these Habits. -

What has happened to Clayton Oliver?

he is lazy in that he has not done what is required to change and improve his weak points. His disposal issues have been a part of his trademark. Its become time to act. -

We aren't talking in this thread about other players, this is solely on Oli. And he needs to be saved from himself. Before he goes right off the rails. Everyone needs some discipline or self-disciplne, and Oli has had last 2 years to sort out his disposals. Including handball to kick rations, and his accuracy. He hasn't.! -

One bad game, this has been going on all season and at least part of last. His missing targets by hand and foot has been happening for a looong time. But we supporters have turned a blind eye to it ; its just that its getting worse, and some of us are talking about it more, which brings it to others attention. It's so bad now, that it need to be attended to. -

Of course hes talented, but he is careless, undisciplined. He has to be dropped to shake him up, Or he has to be given a job to do, chasing an opposition forward around, to learn to be accountable. -

Argh, good point.! Yeah, I didn't think of that. It has been since then. Oliver looks like a lazy undisciplined shadow of himself. -

Lets look at Petracca. We gave him the shytes for a season, and got into him to get fitter, and to stop believing his own media hype. What did he do after tall that pressure. He woke up, is what he did. He's gotten fitter, lost some weight, and no doubt is eating better, and generally looks in better shape; and his footy is starting to get better, once more. HE is back on-track. Oliver is now just the same as the old Petracca was. He thinks he's much better than what he really is. he's undisciplined and hes on te way to wasting his talents. It's not the coaches, who are pumping up their heads with Nitrous Oxide. -
Careless; selfish, and just pathetic, are our Mids at this point. Oliver I think has drunk too many bathtubs of his bathwater. Get Max out of there; and let our midfielders earn the ball the hard way, Via skill and reading the opponents ruckwork. Fine our midfields individually, for errors of disposal. if they don't hit the chest of target they can cough it up. $50.00 bucks per time.
