  1. Max says we are not far off our best. [censored]. I think we are delusional. Cricket season cannot come quick enough. That honestly felt like a loss. No score at all in the last.

Brown as a sub in his first game is what poor clubs do. His poor Dad had to wait for the last 10 mins to see him play. Disgrace.

  2. I like the look of Tholstrup. He looks a Melbourne player to me and one that we we normally go for. He has x factor, aggression as there is big scope for development as he could push into the midfield.

Curtain at 6 would be a steal. Curtain and Tholstrup would be a nice pairing.

  3. Not sure what is in that article by Marc McGowan……but imo -

I see the only way for WC will give up 1 is if they get pick 2 and take the local player.

For us to get involved we would need to pay off both WC and North.

North getting pick 3 for McKay is crucial to both clubs entertaining a pick shuffle.

Hawthorn’s offer is decent but think WC want 2 early picks this year.

I think we could still get involved but we will need to pay quite heavily.

  4. Carlton played well with just Curnow as the main target.

McKay played his best footy when Curnow was out injured (in 2021).

DeKoning, Curnow and McKay not sure how that worked. DeKoning resigned.

I can see how this has some legs.

Harry would need to get his head right. Maybe he goes better when he is the main man.

  5. Best for both parties I believe.

Think it was round 3 this year v Swans - came in and played well, nailed a set shot from 50 and I thought we need to keep him in. But he really struggled to show much in the 2nd half of the year with the opportunities he had, albeit limited he needed to show more.

Sure he was the sub in the GF but he played a big part in 2021 and will be rightfully be remembered as a premiership player.

All the best JJ. Please don't go to Essendon.

  6. Flat as everyone else here.

Think this brings to an end the 2021-2023 era. One flag, 2 x 5th place finishes. Think we will see quite a bit of list turnover.

Out: Grundy, Harmes, Jordon, Tomlinson, Melksham, Hibberd (Brown and TMac both contracted I believe so not sure what we can do there)

We need to transition a few guys in - Turner, Woey, Howes, Laurie, AMW.

We have 3 picks inside 25.

Petty and JVR will be our key forward talls next year.

Need to find a cheap back up ruck.

    Hope Gus is ok

    McAdam in

Reason for optimism. List profile still good. Max and May still have some time left.

    Enjoy the summer all.

  7. Our forward line is taking a hit but think it is time to take a deep breath. From the team that played the Hawks Rd 23 these could  be the changes to fwd line -

    Out: Melksham, JVR

    In: Fritsch, TMac

I don’t think we need to bring another tall in. TMac 2nd ruck.

  8. Just watched the long view replay.

He really launched at Brayshaw. Why do you need to jump at a player when smothering and not just jump straight up and down? Brayshaw was clearly going to kick before he could close space.

I have changed my mind here. He definitely had intent.

    3-4 weeks.

if he doesn’t go. I am done with footy. I am out.

  9. Would love Tommy to come in for Melksham but concerned about his movement. If he is moving well he ticks off what we need most.

If Tommy is stuck on the treadmill we are better off playing another runner and play Trac more forward.

Laurie is growing in confidence. Woey and Spargo other options for mine.

Harmes and Jordon are out of the picture.

Funny you mention that as I was going to bring it up the other day, but when the camera showed Petracca on the bench on gameday I thought to myself his eyes look shot and wondered whether he was sick at the time, especially given he was a bit off.

Yes I did notice Petracca eyes on Sunday. He did get a hit in the face in the 2nd quarter where he went down for a bit. Could have been that. But yes he was a bit off Sunday.

Judd Mcvee's performance was to die for

That kick from McVee in the last quarter that setup the Tracc to Pickett goal was something very very special. Unbelievable decision marking and execution. Gee McVee is a smooth mover. He just glides.

  12. 4 goals up at 3/4. Scores level after 5 mins in. Then back out by 20. Great response. Exciting last quarter. I know I left the game pumped.

Talk that crows missed sets shots but in the last it was us that missed 3 easy/gettable chances - Brayshaw, Gawn, Langdon. Also the smith with the umpires call touch. Crows also 2 goals from umpires - Lever down field and Kozzie 50. Crows missed one chance in the last.

Positive signs for me are they we are starting to score again. Tackles inside 50 Adelaide 13 Melbourne 1. We don’t need to be that  lock-in it forward half team all the time.  We can score with our ball movement. Some signs of 2021 returning for me. Grundy/Smith for Brown. Fritsch back at some stage. Need to be able to score to win the flag.
