This is a lower standard than Hawks vs North last week

On the plus side Clarry's hand and touch looking much better.
Yep, he’s been very sharp early.
He’s a much better version when the hands are firing

Windsor VG that quarter for such a young fella.
Just the odd errant disposal but most were doing it and most have alot more experience.
I love how he gets his skates on but still thinks it through, not headless chook style ala Frosty or Jayden Hunt.
He’s very good in congestion too

Screams of Geelong.
They would love the age bracket and he’ll find an extra gear down there, just like everyone else does

Oh boy, just watched the Harley Reid highlights from last night… not sure I can recall in my lifetime a 19 y.o., 6 game midfielder, in a very average side, that is taking marks over packs like a veteran forward 🥶🥶🥶🥶
I think every football supporter has been curious about how good he can be, given the media frenzy.
Some of that pack marking for a 19 year old mid was simply superb.
i find myself watching Eagles games just to see what he will do - that’s gotta be worth so much to the club

I’ve always been of the belief that Jack Watts would be the icing on the cake for our current side - regardless of what you think of him as a player.
Lukosius is of the same ilk and I would be over the moon if he came to us. We are still light on for elite kicking skills, particularly from a tall.
He kicked more goals than any of our guys last year, is a couple of centimetres taller than JVR and is 23.

Sam Edmund is saying Jack Lukosius may be gettable, I’d take that over Smith every day of the week

Our forwards would love guessing where his kicks are going, he doesn’t even know

I feel down the track, JUH becomes exactly like Jeremy Cameron.
Just does as he pleases and burns opponents at will

I was pretty impressed with him tbh, was in the right spots and some of his work with his hands was very good.
I don’t think he was quite ready but part of me wonders if the debut was orchestrated to throw some spark into a clearly tired side.
On the game itself, I don’t think I’ve seen us chase tail like that in a long time. We could not get near it all night

The lions came with a clear plan and executed to perfection. It’s refreshing to see coaches can ask for a different method and make it work, even if it was at our expense.

If it was Oliver’s decision to play, he’s cost us badly

I like the coaches award. Most accurate award in my books. AFLPA MVP is garbage. Brownlow is worse.
It’s interesting that of the top 25 we are only represented by 2 players. Over the past few seasons we have been well over-represented. This year I think it’s reflective of a more evenly distributed team effort.
I think Clarry will come home with a tailwind, feel like we’ll end with 3 in the top 15

Windsor > Hunter
If JB goes out for Hunter, i’d be filthy

I never thought I’d see the day where ANB was unanimously voted BOG

Trac not bad for someone who wasn’t that influential, hey Sam Mitchell.

Agree with everyone else, Tomlinson could not have done much more.

I really like JUH as a player and think he will be a star, just don’t think he’s right for us.
We would get more benefit from a bigger body who has a bigger presence with pack marking ala McKay, Larkey, Lewis

Has the loading myth been busted or as a club do we keep it on the downlow?
Jake Melksham might not necessarily understand loading, so don’t dismiss the theory just yet.
Majority of AFL players are not sports scientists, in fact most are far from it.

Given the system we play with, I don’t think many players would choose MFC as a destination currently.
The type of players we would benefit from (creativity and flair) don’t fit the preferred method of play.

I do. When the guy keeps running across the line to wrestle you and block your jump, jump early with knees up and it won't happen again. I was screaming that at the TV all game, but no one heard me.
Grundy was in front of him well before he could legally jump, smart coaching from the Swans

I'm starting to think.....No Max firing.
No win.
I think it’s even simpler than that, take away Gawn’s marking and the rest of his game falters.
He needs to be taking marks for his confidence to follow

I'm hearing you, but to be fair to Schache, Grundy cannonballed into him and he's much bigger and stronger
He's not a 2nd ruck
And while we're on it, Grundy ran into Gawn ALL night and Gawn did nothing to allay the tactic
Dumb play or dumb coaching?
I think this is the most glaring example of the club/coach/captain’s stubbornness I’ve ever seen.
Grundy rendered Gawn almost useless from the very first bounce and we had absolutely nothing up our sleeve to rectify it.

NON-MFC: Round 07
in Melbourne Demons

My partner just got back from the ‘G (bombers fan)
She said she’s never going to the footy again, the Collingwood supporters were so disgusting.
She left her seat with 10 minutes to go because she genuinely felt threatened regardless if they won or lost.
For context sake, we have a friend who works in the corporate functions team for the pies, so we occasionally get tickets among Pies supporters.
